Kimber Adds Three New Models to K6s Revolver Product Line

in Authors, Industry News, S.H. Blannelberry

Kimber has expanded its popular K6s revolver product line to include three new models, the K6s Deep Cover (DC), K6s Custom Defense Package (CDP) and the K6s Stainless 3″.

Marketed as the “world’s lightest small-frame six round .357 Mag. revolver,” the K6s has gained an impressive following since its launch in Jan. 2016.  These new additions are likely to build on the momentum that the New-York based gun manufacturer’s generated with this EDC/concealed-carry platform.

“K6s set the bar for quality in production revolvers when we launched the platform last year,” said Winslow Potter, Kimber’s director of product management.

“We work hard to ensure that we continue to raise that bar to better meet the specific applications and individual personalities of the American gun owner, and these mid-year K6s models do just that,” he continued.

The K6s CDP is complete with Kimber’s signature Carry Melt treatment that further rounds edges for snag-free carry, a smooth black DLC finish on the frame and brushed stainless barrel and cylinder and small parts, checkered ergonomic rosewood grips, while boasting a set of low-profile tritium 3-dot night sights.

We’ve had the chance to put the K6s through its paces and reviewer Jon Hodoway had no problem plinking steel from 50 yards out.  What really impressed Hodoway, though, was the trigger, which he called, “the best trigger in its class.”

The only downside is the price.  The K6s is not an inexpensive wheel gun.  But then again, like most things in life, this is a case of you get what you pay for. Premium products warrant premium pricing. Check out the full review of the Kimber K6s.

I bought a k6s 3″. I have a first generation Ruger SP101 that I have shot and carried for years as a comparison. I am not dissapointed so far. Fit and finish are what the Ruger could be if I tuned it up with some custom work making the price of $800.00 attainable. Need to put more a month downrange but the more I shoot it the more I like it.

All of you who say you won’t buy a firearm from a anti-gun state like NY.
Where do you think Colt & Ruger come from? I live in Connecticut which is a very anti-gun state.

Go to gun shows and local gun shops find one of the older model Smith-Wessons or Colts in very good condition some times in excellent condition can be found . You may pay a premium in some cases but you will have no regrets as with some of the new stuff coming on the scene that look good but function is not up to par.

I’m probably one of the few guts who’d love one of the 3inchers in 38spl. It’s my favorite round tof handload and if need be I can make it do 357 stuff and I’m smart enough to keep those rounds away from my 14oz guns

  • Lilburn July 22, 2017, 5:31 pm

These guns may be top of line, but they are truly ugly!

  • Treeindixie July 21, 2017, 8:39 pm

Bought their Solo to learn it only eats certain ammo. Gun broke on the 5th shot and wouldn’t function sent it back to get it returned fixed. My 4th kimber and my last. Their Montana 308 would only shot 3” at 100yds and they claimed that was acceptable. Done with Kimber wouldn’t trust the revolvers either! Besides pay $1,000+ for a revolver to lose it for at lest three years if you shot someone with it. Not happening. Go for it KIMBER fans Im aware some love them it’s a Ford Chevrolet love!

I commented on a Kimber 6S piece not long ago, all I said was I would love to own one but not for 900$, but now Kimber shortens the Barrel and the price tag goes up 256$?? I can buy 2 SW J frames, carry one on my ankle and the other in my pocket and have 10 rds of capacity and twice as many guns. Come on, 900$, you saw the barrel off and now you want 1155$, really??
It’s a cute revolver and all but not 1155$ cute, some would say “Oh the quality” and I say Ruger and SW are just as good. I just think they might be gouging a bit which seems to have turned me off of the Kimber name.
I don’t know but I could be wrong there might be some gold plated parts in for all I know. But for me it’s a “NO”.

S&W And Ruger are far better!!

  • Zupglick July 21, 2017, 1:04 pm

Too little gun for way too much money. I agree with not buying from a NY or Commiefornia manufacturer.

  • Nick July 21, 2017, 11:21 am

Really like Kimbers but won’t buy any firearms from NY or any other communist like state. If Kimber does like other companies and move to another state then there are several models i will own. Till then I’ll stick with my Ruger sp101 as my edc. I’ve been interested in a six shot for awhile and have held and like both the colt and kimbers new revolvers and i would own the kimber tommorow. But Kimbers taxes go strait to NY state were there against gun rights for citizens of a free country. The six shot I am leading towards is 327 fed mag LCR because it’s not supporting NY and still a nice peice. But I love shooting and reloading 357 rounds and the overall versatility. Just remember its in the gun owners best interest to not support the Bloomberg anti self protection machine the New York government is bought and paid for by.

so kimber(or colt, remington, Mossberg, and countless other gun manufacturers) should spend all that money, time, effort, etc. to move to a new state to appease you? they should leave all their(presumably pro-gun) employees without jobs(and have to find all new employees with the same skills, and same experience)? they should take their kids out of their schools, move away from their families and friends, etc. just to be in an already gun friendly state?
if anything, I think it is important to have gun manufacturers(especially large ones) in anti-gun states. they have been shown to have influence over legislators, especially when it comes to jobs.

      • John July 21, 2017, 9:10 pm

He’s right, they should move and take their families and money out of states like that. I also don’t buy anything made in NY, refuse to support legislators and a govt that takes rights away from their citizens. You sound like a red coat sympithizer and shouldn’t allow yourself to settle for loss of freedoms or an excuse to support the loss of American freedoms.
        America think you suck

      • Charlie J July 21, 2017, 10:48 pm

Food for thought, there. To each his own, and all that. Regards.

  • William July 21, 2017, 10:42 am

Don’t purchase a K6s without night-sites. I have an early version, without. Now, I can’t find anything other than the over priced Kimber night-sites.

  • James V Szewczyk July 21, 2017, 10:41 am

I’m still looking for THE 10mm wheel gun, come on Kimber there is a B I G market waiting for you.

  • Bud Knox July 21, 2017, 10:13 am

Got one looks like the competition better pay attention..

  • Bruce July 21, 2017, 9:58 am

Quoted as based on the lightest production .357… but the smallest Kinber K6 is the”D.C.” Deep Cover and is 23 oz empty… more than double the weight of the actual lightest production .357, the 340PD (?).

  • William Chacon July 21, 2017, 9:48 am

Maybe I’ll get one when Dennis at kimber retires

  • Tx5053 July 21, 2017, 8:21 am

When is Kimber gonna come out with a 44 Magnum and 45 Long Colt models???

  • Griffendad July 21, 2017, 7:37 am

Kimber claims there are site options and they’re replaceable. If you can find them, let me know.

  • Pistol Pete July 21, 2017, 7:00 am

How does the durability of the Kimber K6 compare to the Ruger SP101?

    • John July 21, 2017, 9:29 pm

the sp101 is not a fair comparison to the cyclider on the way thinner cyclider on the k6. I think maybe comparing it to a jframe or lcr in magnum would be a closer comparison. Sp101 is the strongest small frame revolver you can see that by just holding one nextvtobanyother small frame revolver. Also forcing cones are much thicker than any of the others also. I would love to own a k6 though. Maybe someday if I can see sending my money to NY. But did just buy my first Kahr yesterday. There made in the USA now.

  • ron July 21, 2017, 6:33 am

For that price, a titanium barrel shroud and cylinder would be nice.
