Kentucky Concealed Carry Permits Now Available Online
Kentucky is entering the digital age, by that I mean law-abiding residents can now apply online to obtain a concealed carry permit.
It’s great news, not only because applying online is easier than doing so in person — no traveling to post office or to a Kentucky State Police office to get the requisite paperwork — but also because the turnaround time for processing digital application is 15 days as opposed to the 60 days allotted for paper applications.
Before one obtains a permit, one must complete a state approved firearms training course and pay a $60 application fee.
In 2013, Kentucky issued more than 59,000 permits. By comparison, in 2012, the Bluegrass state issued 27,400. With CCW applications now available online, one can expect the numbers to spike like they did in 2013.
