You may already know about these two groundbreaking bullpups. The big thing for a long time on both the KSG and the RFB is getting one. Everyone wants one and they are extremely hard to get. Kel-Tec has added a whole new wing to their plant this year and are ramping up production on these in-demand guns. We hope to get one of each soon.

I saw them at “Larry’s Pistol and Pawn” in Huntsville, Alabama a couple of weeks ago.

  • RoyBoy October 21, 2012, 12:47 am

Kel tech is gonna screw around till someone steals their design of the pmr 30 and mass produces em. Patent Schmatent. Ill buy one! They must be completely stupid for not taking advantage of the market demand. Their entire management staff should be fired- At.

  • ALPHAPYR0 July 7, 2012, 5:19 am

its strictly 12 Ga. 2 models on that is strictly set to take 1.75-2-75 inch shells at 7+7+1 or the 1.75-3 inch chambering which 3 inch shells are only 6+6+1 the 2.75 inch model can have a 3 inch shell chambered but only one at a time. If you see prices for above $622.00 your getting ripped off thats what I’m gonna buy at instead of like one of the first people in my county who bought on for $2500.00

  • Jonathan Smith February 10, 2012, 2:19 pm

Davidio Flavio… great post and glad to see delers lik you out there. For the record I too wont buy RUGER or S&W products (like i mentioned) because of the “selling out to the feds” issue. It is nice to know that there are dealers with more integrity than greed. Thanks!

  • steve February 5, 2012, 8:36 am

I Don’t blame kel-tec for the scalpers, It’s the distributers and dealers who are robbing us. I’ll just wait till the price comes down OR DO WITHOUT!

  • Sean waters January 30, 2012, 12:41 am

Rediculous…too many good guns to buy than wait for them to get they’re
Act together. Most of my military buds think its a joke-don’t offer whaT
You CANT deliver. I already picked up a tactical shotgun and have moved
On-if you need 14 rds to hit your target …well ,that should tell ya something
…most of my dealers think they’re cheaply made and not worth the hype. Movin on…

  • Crazy Case January 26, 2012, 2:59 pm

I think it was a good sales demonstration & I had no problems hearing any of it. I would up grade to the new model for self defence/home defence. 14+1 12 gauge shotgun sounds like alot of fire power to unleash on anythang!

  • Bovril January 25, 2012, 9:49 am

To answer the last three posters questions.

FAL magazines are available new and made in the US from DSA and Thermold, Thermold in point of fact recently changed their FAL mags by removing some external ribs so now they fit and feed perfectly in my RFB

Kel-Tec customer support has to date, for me, been exceptional, timely, fast and helpful. In point of fact I had to get my RFB directly from KT as I needed one that was NJ legal and the only way to get it was by selling me one of their Canadian variants. It took me over 6 months, they made a one off exception for a direct sale but they came through. I don’t see any of the big boys ever doing that, do you?

There CAN be a California variant, just need a supplier to add a bullet button and swap out the flash hider for a longer muzzle brake, Google is your friend, this turned up in 2 seconds

    http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=424662

  • Cowboy. S. January 25, 2012, 4:07 am

Video is fine, blah blah blah, the big question is ? Will there be California legal version available of either
Gun? And of course when can I have it.

  • JoelB January 24, 2012, 11:54 pm

The upside? I purchased a Sub 2000 for a backup to my service Glock 22 and couldn’t be happier. The PF-9 I purchased as an off-duty carry piece has been equally as nice. Feed it ammo it likes and it runs like a sewing machine, no problems at all. The downside? I don’t see another Kel-Tec anything in my future. Customer Service is completely non existent, and when I finally found a parts supplier they stuck it in dry and broke it off. I’m almost {not quite} ready to forgive S&W at this point but luckily there are other firearm companies out there who actually want my business and they will get it. I would add a KSG but there are plenty of fine shotguns on the market in the $200 – $500 range and they are on my dealers shelf, RIGHT NOW! If you get the head out of the dark hole before you go under maybe we can do business in the future but not right now or for the forseable future. Good luck.

  • Eric January 24, 2012, 8:08 pm

Great, another rifle that takes Fal mags. When are you guys going to; 1-make some more, 2-make some really good plastic ones? The price for Fal mags has become stupid.

  • bobby_the_v January 24, 2012, 5:51 pm

sound fine here–nice shooter, can’t wait to get mine….

  • Davidio Flavio January 24, 2012, 5:49 pm

Well, as a dealer, I got one RFB from my distributor with intent to keep it, and when I received it, and really examined it, I decided to flip it, because of a number of reasons.

One, the ergonomics are horrid, the hard plastic construction of the grip, etc, was slippy, cheek weld to the sighting plane just did not fit well against my face, and I found the construction lacking places, notably, the cocking handle, it was a piece of 1/8″ sheet metal, with a hard plastic cover riveted on, and it just screamed “Broken” if it ever fell and hit hard concrete, I figured a 1/4″ or bigger diameter pin, with a molded over solid cover, or better, a knurled or stamped assembly that had no plastic at all.

Its supposed to be revoloutionary construction methods, but frankly I find them cheap.

When I first saw the Glock on paper, I was not sold on a plastic gun, but, its fit, and design sold me on the radical construction at the time, this comes off as exactly the opposite, made from plastic and sheet metal to save money, not offer a better product for less, if its quick and easy to make, then pass the savings on.

I can get an FAL or G3 clone for less than this, all of which have proven designs, unless my ONLY need was to have a short gun for a suppressor, maybe the RFB offers something, but, for all else, its a loser in my book.

BTW, put it on GB and made 700 bucks on a buy it now, overnight, thanks to Kel Tec for that, if nothing else.

Also, when my customers come in and have asked about the availability of these, I tell them to check back in 5 years, don’t get me wrong, I have carried a Kel Tec 32 or 380 micro for years, but, recurrent trigger issues, are forcing me to look elsewhere for a replacement, I hate Ruger, and have since the owner sold out 10 round or higher magazines to the feds, and I have always supported the little guy, but, its been a consistent record of slow production, initial problems with the first series of weapons, and dismal customer support, that has made me rethink my relationship with Kel Tec, and if “I” the dealer don’t trust a manufacturer, I won’t recommend them to my customers.

  • Hrsepwer January 24, 2012, 4:58 pm

Jonathan Smith- I agree with you, but remember this is how ALL businesses work. Supply and demand and what people will pay to be the first. I went to buy a Mustang GT500 and it was marked up by $20,000 a couple of years back and Ford says they can’t control what dealers charge, as in “Manufacturers suggested list price (MSRP) “. Now they are selling below MSRP because of the economy and the “gotta have it” is way down. I’m sure it’s the same with Kel-Tec.

  • Hrsepwer January 24, 2012, 4:51 pm

Also, I had no problem with the sound. Could be the serving company.

  • Marksman January 24, 2012, 4:29 pm

I mean seriously come on…………I am using a state of the art computer and I assure you I have never had ANY audio problems before. The sound on this is jacked up!

  • Jonathan Smith January 24, 2012, 3:56 pm

BTW Great Job on the new models and Hopefully you will appreciate your customers.

  • Jonathan Smith January 24, 2012, 3:54 pm

Wow, Admin I was waiting for your rebuttal for or to Frank. I too understand the word “coming” . I dont understand why if they are “coming” does some unethical dealer exclusively have them. Luckly I dont have to have one, and I feel that the more you (KelTec) screws the customer, the less buisness you are going to get in the long run. I didnt have an opinion going into seeing the video and rarely ever make comments. But when I see something I want to buy I normally expect not to spend 200 or 300% more than MSRP. Instead of the ol “sell as many as you can extremely high until you fleece everyone you can, then drop down to the MSRP when its not HOT anylonger” why dont you guys try this: HONESTY? If you remember the Smith & Wesson Fiasco years back, It almost ruined them. I STILL REFUSE TO BUY S&W PRODUCTS! We consumers have long memories. Personally I consider KelTec one of the bottom rung manufacturers Akin to HiPoint, so if you want to step into a classier, more loyal Market by building the higher quality weapons that you have been building, then that is only PART of the formula. You also have to build TRUST and Integrity before I will put down my SIG or Colt and buy from someone who is BLATENTLY SCREWING THEIR LOYAL FOLLOWERS! Good luck

    • Savage2025 February 1, 2012, 10:45 am

Colt makes a good product but talk about overpriced it’s like buying designer cloths you are paying for the name. Stag and Bushmaster make the AR just as well if not better and you aren’t paying extra for the name. I own a High Point 9mm carbine and it is about the most fun you can have at an indoor range without spending a ton of money on ammo. I have had it for three years have pumped about 2,000 rounds through it and although I take great care of all my firearms it is still a solid carbine. I paid 300 for it new and I know tons of FFL dealers and range employees that feel the same way as I do and own one. So try and not worry so much about the name on it and judge the weapon itself. Brand Name doesn’t always mean best price or product.

  • Mark January 24, 2012, 3:11 pm

At that price, I wont be getting either one of those.Oh well,I still like Kel-Tec, I had one of the .40 cal.(P40?) long time ago.

  • Vuksta January 24, 2012, 2:51 pm

The RFB and the Stag AR platform are the only real options for south paws as far I have seen. The Stag comes in 223 or 6.8 SPC caliber and the RFB come in 7.62 caliber. RFB has a 16”or 24” barrel option and the Stag has a 16”or 20” barrel option for the general public. I handled the RFB 16” version in the gun store. It was a very nice weapon system and it has the largest straight from the factory over the counter caliper of the two, which weighs in heavily as a deciding factor. With the lower of the Stag you have many options as to how you can configure and that will aslo be a deciding factor. If I carried a rifle for a living I would buy the RFB without a second thought or reserve over an AR platform. It is just perfect for what is intended to be used for.
That KSG Shotgun was cool 15 rounds…Nice!
Too bad it was not semi auto, if it were, It would be a MUST own!

  • John January 24, 2012, 1:59 pm

Is the RFB available in 5.56?

    • Jeff January 24, 2012, 4:30 pm

      5.56….. THAT would be sweet!!

  • John January 24, 2012, 1:53 pm

Yes, my dealer called me a couple weeks ago and informed me that he finally got a KSG in, but he had to “pay a premium” to get it. Because of this “premium”, my price was $1,800.00. (Which he, himself admitted was ridiculous…I appreciate his honesty and I think he’s an honest man running an honest business.)
For over a year we’ve been waiting for the KSG to be made available to us. In your video you still continue to reinforce the fact that they are “coming”…we’ve heard this…a year ago… we get it..and we STILL want it (even at full MSRP). It’s simple; Here’s what we want to hear from Keltec: “Okay, gents they’re available now, you can pick one up the next time you’re at Walmart shoppong for milk and eggs.” Yeah, that’d be nice…
    Then again, I don’t suppose I HAVE to have one…… Are you kidding?! …YES I DO!…can’t help it… Just too cool of a shotgun…FOURTEEN + 1 rds?!?! …Bullpup!?!…26.1″?!?! OH Yeah!, I gotta have one!!… BUT, I can wait for a decent price…or can I?

    • Savage2025 February 1, 2012, 10:33 am

It’s pretty cool but like a few others said it is pump I have the Saiga in 12gauge it can fire 2.75 and 3 inch it is semi auto I have several clips and the 10 round runs great. You can pick it up new for $600.00 and it is basic AK-47 action and it will probably run forever just make sure you get it from then Russian Milatary Manufactorer or all bets are off. Great gun not expensive and you see plenty of them in three gun now. Wait awhile and see how it goes with the Kel Tec and how well it holds up after allot of use and the price drops. I never go to a movie the first night I wait for someone else to see it and then I find out if it is worth me dropping my own money on same works for guns so relax and if you want a good semi auto pick up a Saiga. As far as the rifle I didn’t catch the caliber either until I read the posts but there are so many out there no reason not to wait.

  • Frank January 24, 2012, 12:24 pm

Administrator: I completely understand the word “coming”. Check out the websites I mentioned, somebody’s getting them. The ones on the websites are most likely, just a small percentage of the ones that have/are being shipped. What part of the word “gouging” do YOU not understand. I didn’t post here to get into a verbal fencing session with you, just to point out that gouging for these great guns does nothing to promote the shooting sports or help out the trade in general.

    • Duray January 24, 2012, 7:47 pm

Conducting an auction is not gouging.

      • h8yuns February 13, 2012, 12:35 am

But conducting an auction on a product that is in limited supply to very few people and making the minimum bid twice the msrp, hence ensuring that you will pay at least that price, is textbook price gouging. That would be almost the very definition of gouging in that context. Hell, if you think about it, it’s worse. Cause not only are you getting double the fair market value, you can get more still from people who have the money to throw around and actually get competitive in an auction like that. Hey, that’s capitalism. Good for them, eh? But if you’re one of those poor fools who anticipated the release and looked forward to a price at least comparable to msrp and thought “When I get my tax return, I’ll get myself one of those”! like oh, say… me, it’s a bit of a let down to see only a tiny shipment get released, snatched up and scalped. That’s just how it goes. Good news is that, hopefully, the design will be refined and improved by the time it becomes more widely available. That’s important for a product with these unique features.

  • 1whobuys January 24, 2012, 11:54 am

How about weights and prices, and how soon is “coming soon?” A local shop has one of the shotguns for $2499.00..Give me a break and stop trickling them out to Pirates that only want to screw us. Get them to real dealers who have regular customers that are the ones that are supporting you Kal Tec.

  • MotoJB January 24, 2012, 11:45 am

“How about we stop whining about video, sound quality and giving English lessons for a minute and talk about the damn guns. This is a group of men talking here isn’t it?”

What HE said…all the blather here is annoying “guy’s”.

    • JP January 26, 2012, 12:02 am

      Thank you Moto!

It wasn’t worth sifting through all the pissing, moaning and bitching to cipher out the caliber and cost!

  • Jim Shoulders January 24, 2012, 11:41 am

I agree that the demand has been created. When will these guns be available to the ordinary guys like me? The dealers at the Texas Gun Shows can’t get them and they say their distributors have no idea. I understand gauging demand prior to manufacturing, but come on.

  • S.Dufresne January 24, 2012, 11:27 am

I have no doubts that ”mike” ?!?! is a good customer service manager for Kal-Tec,However Kal-Tec would benefit by hiring or sub-contracting a good marketing and/or communication firm to make those presentations sound a bit more professional..Again ”mike”!?!? seems like a good genuine employee but this impromptu presentation was not for the better of Kal-Tec,,
for a while there I thought I was watching my neighbor trolling me to buy Amway products..

  • Happy Killmore January 24, 2012, 11:26 am

Yay. Another KelTec product they won’t make enough of. I’m still waiting on a PMR-30 that my dealer ordered well over a year ago. He ordered over 50 and never got a single one. It’s interesting to me that the folks selling them on Gunbroker for 2x MSRP always seem to be the same people who are able to get them whenever they want. (I bet it’s the same folks getting KSGs as well.) I also find it interesting that the MSRP on the PMR-30 increased by $100 almost overnight. At one point, I emailed KelTec to find out what was going on with PMR production. (This was after the who retrofit fiasco as well.) I was told they were still working on the back-log of orders and trying to get them out to dealers in partial shipments. Again, why has my dealer not received his first pistol in over a year of waiting but Gunbroker scalpers seem to be able to get them at the local drive-thru? I knew it would be the same with the KSG. When the “new is off the penny” I’ll buy both.

In response to Bladerunner, this is not b!+€h!ng. The free market is what it is. I just wish the company would be honest in dealing with the public.

    • Duray January 24, 2012, 7:45 pm

“and trying to get them out to dealers in partial shipments.” Kel Tec does NOT sell or ship to dealers, they ship to distributors who decide what dealers to play ball with.

  • SR January 24, 2012, 11:12 am

    Sound works fine, thank-you

  • Bladerunner January 24, 2012, 11:01 am

Man I get tired of hearing all the b-t-h-ng all the time by the American so-called male. Women don’t do it as much as the guys who post feedback on the net do. Buck up and wear the pants guys.

  • Dave Martin January 24, 2012, 10:57 am

How about we stop whining about video, sound quality and giving English lessons for a minute and talk about the damn guns. This is a group of men talking here isn’t it?

      Geteeer done!!!!!!

    • Mark January 24, 2012, 3:05 pm

      Thank you Dave.

  • Marine4ever January 24, 2012, 10:32 am

Audio and video perfect all the way thru. As stated above: Must your computer or download speed.

    I WANT ‘EM ALL!

  • Frank January 24, 2012, 10:15 am

Sweet guns, but just try to GET one..lol I just love “Coming to a dealer near you!” Really, just TRY to get one, at retail at least. Numerous individuals are offering them for sale at Guns America and Gun broker and not one anywhere near MSRP. All are around 2X that. Got to love the way these guns just seem to end up with the dealers bent only on obscene profits. Great way to further the shooting sports. Some of us who know what they really cost vs. retail would be happy with just getting MSRP out of them, that’s a plenty fair margin. Good ‘ol free enterprise. BOHICA! Sound works fine for me, nice vid.

    • Administrator January 24, 2012, 10:34 am

I’m not sure what part of the word “coming” you don’t understand. It would imply that they haven’t been there to date.

  • JvK January 24, 2012, 10:12 am

Sound was fine, video was just ok, black on black looses some detail in the video. However, I would have like to see in the video the item firing, and more mechanical action then just sitting on a table for the major part of the video.

  • Marty January 24, 2012, 10:05 am

I reluctantly post this as it is just a gripe, so apologies up front for being picky. One word heard in virtually every video from the Shot Show is ambidextrous. It is constantly mispronounced as “am bee dex tree ous”. There is no “tree” in the pronunciation folks. Say it with me: “Am bi dek stres”.

    😉

    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ambidextrous.

    • Bradley Hill January 24, 2012, 3:48 pm

AMEN brother!! I was just about to post my feelings here. The administrator answered my question about the

      size load for the RFB being .308 Win./ 7.62 X 51 NATO.

  • Jack January 24, 2012, 9:57 am

Enjoyed the video and look forward to getting the KSG. Regarding the comments on the sound, my computer has stereo and I was getting 95% of the sound only in my left ear. At first I only had my right earpiece in and the sound was very low; after checking my sound level settings, I picked up my other earpiece and could hear it even before I put it in my ear. Most YouTube videos are recorded in mono so there is no difference between the right and left speaker… the issue here is one of recording and playback settings, I’m pretty sure. If recorded in stereo, then the listener must be listening in stereo or he loses the sound. If recorded in mono, both sides of the stereo headset sound the same. Sorry the sound issue distracted the discussion regarding the excellent firearms offerings. I think one of the greatest advances in modern sporting/defensive firearms is utilizing the full length of the firearm for the action rather than having 1/3 to 1/2 of the firearm being solely buttstock. I really appreciate this development. For rifles, moving the action completely to the back allows a longer barrel for greater muzzle velocity and increased accuracy in a much more compact gun. Great job, Keltec!

Where have you been? Keltec didn’t invent the bullpup. 1970’s technology. Didn’t you see Die Hard?

      • logan May 18, 2012, 8:39 am

I believe he’s arguing that in spite of it being old technology, keltec is the first name that comes to mind to have bullpupped a shotgun successfully.

  • KenJ January 24, 2012, 9:52 am

I also didn’t know what caliber it was and I watched the video, with audio, through the whole presentation.

  • Leon January 24, 2012, 8:58 am

the sound was fine for me…. wish Kel Tec would pump out those sub 2000’s ….

  • Dan January 24, 2012, 8:40 am

No problem with the sound here. I have one of the first 400 RFB’s that were released and the thing is awesome. I would like to have a KSG but I’m not going to go crazy about one simply for the fact that it’s a pump. They need to build it as a semi auto and give some competition to the AA12.

  • Ralph Z January 24, 2012, 8:40 am

Both the audio and video worked perfectly for me. Enjoyed the presentation by Mike, but he failed to mention the calibers of the weapons he was describing. Other manufacuters are offering their RFB’s in calibers having 45 ACP and in 6 mm. Watched these on the Military Channel recently. Thanks.

    • Administrator January 24, 2012, 8:47 am

The RFB is a .308 Win./7.62×51 NATO. There are no other guns like this so I don’t know what you watched. The RFB ejects the spent shells forward from a hole in the front. When we get one we will do a full review of it.

      • Dave Martin January 24, 2012, 10:54 am

Do you have any idea what the RFB will be selling for?

  • Marc January 24, 2012, 8:26 am

Sound was okay for entire video

  • Mark January 24, 2012, 8:18 am

Sound is fine, it lasts the whole video…

  • Joe Zirbes January 24, 2012, 7:44 am

Sure wish there was sound on this video…..just saying!

    • Administrator January 24, 2012, 7:50 am

It does have sound all the way through it. It is your computer or download speed.

      • Martin McKenzie January 24, 2012, 8:39 am

I’m appreciative for your videos shared, but also agree with the comments of other viewers regarding the audio / sound quality, which I found to be a distraction to the presentation.

    • Sam LaPonza January 25, 2012, 2:41 am

Just played it and it had great video and audio.

  • R Beland January 24, 2012, 5:27 am

The Most Wanted Guns that ARE NOT in Distribution and YOU CANNOT BUY! :))))))))))))

    • Mike January 24, 2012, 10:41 am

I purchased the RFB just before Christmas from my favorite gun store. Apparently they had gotten 5 in and they were quickly snapped up

      • JLA January 27, 2012, 2:42 pm

I looked at an RFB last September at my favorite local ship. I didn’t have money to actually buy one, but if I had they were willing to sell me one!!!

  • Frank January 24, 2012, 4:19 am

I hate to say this, however, the sound goes out on the video at 0:11. I guess this is an FYI.
