IWI’s Carmel Rifle — NRA 2023

At NRA 2023, we got a chance to catch up with IWI US. Specifically, we got our hands on the CARMEL rifle.

This new semiautomatic rifle features a short-stroke gas piston system and a locking, rotating bolt system for maximum safety. Made from superior steel, aviation-grade aluminum, and high-strength impact-modified polymer, the IWI US CARMEL is designed for outstanding performance in all environmental conditions.

The CARMEL rifle is fully ambidextrous, making it easily customizable with MLOK rails at the 3, 6, and 9 positions for compatibility with various accessories. It also has a 2-position gas regulator, allowing the user to switch between regular and suppressor mode. The rifle’s cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined, free-floating barrel enhances accuracy and prolongs the life cycle of the weapon.

One of the key advantages of the CARMEL rifle is its ergonomic design, optimized for maximum comfort and ease of use. The side folding stock has a variable length of pull and comb height, allowing the weapon to be fired with a folded stock. The safety lever, magazine release, bolt catch, and non-reciprocating charging handle are all fully ambidextrous, making it easy to operate for left and right-handed shooters. The enlarged trigger guard also allows for easier access for glove use.

I wonder if the bolts and carrier will be interchangeable with an AR 15. Probably not the carrier.
Parts availability is very important to me. I have a tavor 7 and an X95 that I can’t get bolts, bolt rebuild kits or bolt/barrel kits for. I been on the notify me list since I bought the guns, several years ago for the T7. I even emailed IWI twice begging them to make those parts available, still no luck. I would buy a couple more T7’s, great rifles but I won’t if they can’t supply parts. I am not sure they even make the T7 anymore, I haven’t seen any new ones for sale in a long time.

I wonder if the bolt is interchangeable with AR15’s. I assume the carrier probably isn’t due to piston driven. Parts availability is important to me. Currently I have a Tavor 7 and a X95 that I can’t get bolt rebuild kits, bolts or the barrel bolt kits for.

I been on the notify me list since I purchased the rifles, read years for the T7 as I got the first one I could find when they came out. I have also contacted IWI USA twice begging for them to make spare parts available, still no luck. I would buy a couple more T 7’s but not if I can’t get parts. Not to mention new Tavor 7’s are scarce as hens teeth. I am not sure they are even making them anymore?
