Milwaukee County, WI Sheriff David Clarke and Marc Lamont locked horns Monday over the impact that the Black Lives Matter movement is having on America.
Pointing to the murder of a Texas deputy on Friday, Sheriff Clarke argued that the BLM movement is fostering an anti-police sentiment that is encouraging activists to go out and attack officers.
Meanwhile, Lamont argued that BLM is a force agitating for social change, particularly when it comes to holding accountable officers who use deadly force against unarmed black people.
“I think very fair in light of the anti-cop rhetoric that is sweeping the United States of America, fueled by this group, some of the vulgar, vile, vicious rhetoric coming out talking about killing cops,” said Clarke about BLM.
“That’s some of the nice stuff. Some of the stuff I can’t even say here on TV. But there’s no doubt in my mind that the two New York officers, [Rafael] Ramos and [Wenjian] Liu, were gunned down by an individual who made Facebook postings about wanting to kill pigs. And he was going to go out and hunt officers down,” he continued.
“There have been officers across the United States who had their cruisers shot at and struck while they patrolled in St. Louis — the same thing,” said Clarke. “This is part of a pattern. You would have to stick your head in the sand to think this wasn’t fueled by this vile, vulgar, slimy movement.”
Lamont said we shouldn’t rush to link the BLM with the suspect who murdered the Texas officer.
“[E]ven if you think those people didn’t get what they deserves, as a police officer, I hope you wouldn’t say two wrongs make a right. If anything, we should be emphasizing due process and investigation here,” said Lamont. “In this case, the people handling the case in Texas themselves have said, they clearly — we don’t know the motive. So, you are essentially saying that your colleagues in law enforcement who say we don’t know the motive are wrong and you know the motive.”
“The second piece I want to say is your characterization of Black Lives Matter is incorrect,” Lamont continued. “The argument of black lives matter is not to say that police officers should be killed, that police officers should be demonized, that police officers should be marginalized. The argument of Black Lives Matter is that police officers should be held to standards of accountability like everybody else. The increased number of black bodies, which die at the hands of state violence needs to end. While we regard all lives, we cannot exclude black lives.”
What are your thoughts? How do you see the Black Lives Matter movement?
Sorry Mr. Lamont, the black bodies increase at the hands of the ‘state’ is a myth. More whites are killed by police than blacks. That is a fact. And please, let’s get over this ‘unarmed’ B.S. If a 5’9″ 160lb police officer is attacked by a 6′ 3″ 240lb unarmed person, the laws in almost every state clearly acknowledge that the larger person is a deadly weapon but virtue of his superior size, thus deadly force can be utilized. I do agree the police need better training as it pertains to Concealed Carry Permit holders and there are some police officers that do not need to be in that position, but removing them from that position should be done by due process. Also when you look at some of these incidents, the black community has called for the immediate prosecution AND punishment of the officers involved. Now if a person the black community were subjected to this, you would crying racism, unjust punishment, in other words you would decrying the lack of due process, the same due process that you would withhold from those officers. Can’t have it both ways.
can’t you find any new articles???????????? and yes they are???????????
BLM is the new face of racism. Racists voted for Barack Hussein Obama just because he was black, without looking at his record – now the new racists think black criminals should get a free pass for being black and Hilary thinks she should get a free pass just because she is a woman, without any scrutiny of her record. (And for the record, I was not born in the US).
can you say YES, just a front for the NEW BLACK PANTHER MOVEMENT
Lol reading comments on this site regarding anything about race is airways hilarious to me. Never fails to bring out the closet racists. Why do white people get so upset when racism is addressed in this country? Is it because you are so upset about being reminded of your past? Not lumping all white people together, only Quakers and John Brown get a pass, everybody else is a perpetrator or silently agreed by their non action. Germans, at least, acknowledge their past history of the holocaust and have made strides to reconcile them but Americans want to bury their collective heads in the sand when it comes to their treatment of African Americans… Let alone the indigenous people you massacred to steal “Your Country” from…

since we have a president that stirs up racial divide, instead of equality, there will always be racial divide in this country, but now more than ever, blacks will act like they have carte blanche whenever they get any chance to stir up the ever present racial division we will endure until our Lord and Savior returns and claims His Church!!
