A peaceful Chicago neighborhood received a shock last month when an 80-year-old man defended his home from two intruders.
The homeowner, who is a holder of a valid FOID card, was inside his home in the 8500 block of West Catherine when two individuals knocked on his door at 10:30 am. Upon opening it, the intruders, a man and woman, forcibly entered the home and a scuffle ensued.
However, the determined homeowner didn’t give up without a fight and managed to fire a shot, striking the man in the chest. The second intruder, the woman, escaped unharmed.
The homeowner sustained several injuries in the altercation, including a severe head injury, and Fox32 reports that he was rushed to Resurrection Hospital in critical condition.
The two perpetrators fled the scene but eventually sought medical treatment at the same hospital. The perp who was shot was admitted in critical condition. Since then the police have gained custody of both intruders. Charges are still pending.

Many neighbors expressed a great deal of shock over the occurrence, one saying, “I was in shock when I heard it, because it’s like in the middle of the day, in the morning, and something like that happens so close to your home, it’s really scary to hear.”
When interviewed, Boris Stojakovic, another neighbor of the homeowner, told WLS, “This doesn’t happen here. This is a pretty rare event.” He also informed the news outlet that the people of the neighborhood are taking precautions and keeping their doors locked.
In this eventful happening, a brave homeowner fought back against two intruders and exercised his 2A rights, defending himself and his home.
The story serves as a testament to the necessity of staying prepared and cautious, as well as how important it is to know how to use a firearm.

Big shocker! The trash has overflowed the barrel and has started moving into different neighborhoods. Similar to where I live in Ohio (and i think we still have it pretty good). Drugs, Homeless, Clinically insane, and just plain Evil are being coddled by are politicians.
They don’t actually want to help the law abiding, that doesn’t gain funding from the federal government. The funding they do receive is wasted on a solutions that will never really fix the issues.
Working for a local municipality I’m not allowed to carry while at work even though myself and several other coworkers have had threats made and altercations with very upset and unstable individuals. One just walked in our building screaming, yelling, looking to fight because one of the guys I work with passed him on their way to work. Boss Never even called the police for that or several other instances. A flower shop worker was bound, beaten, and almost raped in the middle of the workday. Police shot some maniac trying to car jack a lady in the middle of the day as she was going to work out. High speed chase at the same time school was letting out last week. The list goes on and on. I think most areas are starting to see increased lunacy in our country.
Its getting less safe and I’m afraid the wild west is starting a comeback. The difference is that the government back then realized the safety issue and “ALLOWED” you to protect yourself with a firearm.
I hope this man is alright! My prayers are with him. Be ready to protect whats important to you.
Many of our politicians are trying to get rid of firearms altogether and you know who gains if they get enough bills passed to do so, the criminals gain, they would then be able to commit crimes without worrying about us fighting back, and they’d be able to get firearms even if All Firearms were banned to its citizens, the Government knows this as well as you and I, some states already have laws to keep the everyday citizen from getting a “Carry Permit”, I live in New Jersey where very few people are able to get said permit. Whenever there is an election in your state, find out where he or she stands on firearms, it they are against them then Do Not give that person your vote, why help them to take away our given rights by our Constitution, these same politicians would love to get rid of the Constutution also, don’t help them do it, why would you want to be a slave in our Country, just say NO!
The 2A wins again !!! Saved me once at a a rest stop near Seattle. I got cornered by a couple of illegal looking Mexicans. The prevented me from leaving the other-wise empty bathroom and my micro 9mm convinced them to leave me alone. And, yes, I was ready to pull the trigger if they didn’t back off.

Exactly why you don’t open your door for strangers. Do your communications through a closed door, be armed and call the police! They may not show up, like where I live, but at least there’s a record of it!

Im guessing the criminal should have realized being 80 years old and the thought of spending the rest of their life in prison vs being dead was not a deterent to their intended victim. Note to criminals. Dont mess with old people. Spending the rest of their life in prison at 80 years old and believing the elderly wont fight back will get yourself killed
Old western saying- “God made all men, Sam Colt made them equal.” The small, old, weak, women, those who normally would be helpless against large men, or more than one intruder, can find help through having a firearm. These examples are hardly ever seen in the media we have, so I am glad this was printed.
And of course, Biden and company want to make people helpless.

FOID Card. Firearms Owners Identification Card. The requirement for this card is Unconstitutional. The right to defend ones self with a weapon is an individuals “Natural Right” of life. The 2nd Amendment protects individuals from government infringement on this ancient right.

statement made. After serving for over 30 years as a law enforcement officer, I can tell you that it takes time to have 911 contacted, be dispatched, arrive at a crime scene and take action. It is Critical that you are able and willing to protect yourself and family during that time.
