Hunter Kills Bear with Spear, Under Armour Pulls Sponsorship

Would you hunt a bear with a spear?

Would you hunt a bear with a spear?

Under Armour’s “dedication” to the hunting community has its limits, apparently.

The No. 2 U.S. sportswear maker recently announced that it will no longer be sponsoring the wife of a man who killed a bear with a spear and posted the kill online. The video sparked outrage among animal rights activists and those unfamiliar with spear hunting, and Under Armour wasted no time disassociating itself from the couple.

Under Armour spokesman Danielle Daly told Reuters that while the company is “dedicated to the hunting community,” spear hunting is a step too far. “The method used to harvest this animal was reckless and we do not condone it,” she said.

The video depicts Josh Bowmar in the woods of Alberta (western Canada) as he stalks and kills a bear with a hunting spear. Bowmar scores a clean hit, but the video does not follow the bear as it runs away. Instead, viewers see Bowmar celebrating his kill: “Can you believe this?” he says, smiling and laughing. “That was something else.”

The Mirror first drew attention to the video, calling Bowmar’s hunt a “sick new low,” “horrific,” and “appalling.” The lede claims that Bowmar “left the animal to die a slow, excruciating death.”

To anyone unfamiliar with spear hunting (as The Mirror’s author clearly is), the kill certainly looks cruel. But, as Josh Bowmar explained to The Huffington Post, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“The bear I speared only ran 60 yards and died immediately, that’s as humane and ethical as one could get in a hunting situation on big game animals. Trust me, no one cares more about these animals than us hunters, especially me,” he said in an emailed statement last week.

He elaborated in an exclusive article published by Wide Open Spaces: “Anyone that knows animals, they run. When you hit an animal like that, it’s going to run a lot further than 60 yards to evade danger. Which means the bear ran until it died. A bear runs roughly 30 mph. That means it runs about 15 yards a second. So with the bear in the fight or flight mode, running at full speed and only going 60 yards he would have made it there within four seconds.

“That bear was dead within four seconds at most, 10 seconds if he wasn’t running full speed. But let’s go further as to say it was a bear that was capable of running slow and live with it’s vitals cut the way they were, there’s no way it didn’t die within 30 seconds. The animal didn’t suffer any more from my spear than it would with a broadhead from an arrow. The author made me out to be unethical and Under Armour is making me out to be unethical as well. This animal ran on adrenaline and died very quickly and humanely,” Bowmar concluded.

Under Armour, unfortunately, hasn’t found Bowmar’s explanation convincing. They withdrew their sponsorship of Bowmar’s wife, Sarah, who represented (ironically) Under Armour’s new women’s hunting line.

Though there was mention of charges being filed against Bowmar as well, those rumors were dispelled today by the Alberta government, which determined that Bowmar’s hunt was legal.

Under Douchers can eat a shit sandwich. I’m glad they, and other such liberal companies, are coming “out of the closet” on these issues. As now, those of us that buy their products can choose other companies’ products that do not inject their personal views and politics into their businesses. But dumping someone because their spouse performed a LEGAL hunt? I think I would be issuing a law suit over that if I were her! Also, as I remember, wasn’t it Lance Armstrong that was their big starter name hero celebrity athlete years ago? Yes, it was, and he turned out to be a liar and a cheat- imagine that!

  • Calvin Henderson February 3, 2017, 10:51 pm

To hell with Under Armpits. Their product is overpriced and overrated. I assure you that if I don’t have anything from the politically correct company.

  • Robert Campbell August 29, 2016, 11:19 am

Man ! Man ! Man! You killed a BEAR with your freaking hands!!!! and a little spear but hell that had to be a 20 foot shot!
But let me get this right??? They are getting into your shit because you used a SPEAR? What’s wrong with this picture???
I’m happy for ya, I once thought I’d like to jump down on one from a tree
till I heard about someone doing that and not turning out well….HHHaaaa
Hey! if I did it I’d blha blha…
All kidding aside I’ve seen Bear Hunts with spears off tree stands and they’re not too safe there either..Congrats!

    • Larry Meredith July 17, 2017, 1:56 pm

Why kill the bear in the first place?? I don’t condone killing any animals other than rats and vermin. I understand in northern parts of this country, the herds have to be culled to keep them from starving to death, but other than that, killing animals for trophies and not because you’re living off the land, disturbs me a great deal. I’m a veteran and no stranger to weapons of all sorts, and definitely not a wimp, but I just feel there is no justification for the trophy kills just for the sport of it. I can’t do anything about it, nor will I try, this is a multi billion dollar business, and my bitching ain’t gonna change a thing! Just venting and saying my piece!

      • Skull October 5, 2018, 12:51 pm

Sooooooo, you MUST be a vegan then, if you don’t condone the killing of ANY animals??? Or are you one of those that like to eat meat, as long as someone else had to raise it, and then send it to the slaughter house, to be processed into your “ethically killed” meat? And don’t tell me you’re not a “wimp”, I reserve judgement on that for myself. From one veteran to another that claims such, which I doubt.

  • Doug Efird August 29, 2016, 2:09 am

I agree with Under Armour. To kill any animal with a spear is disgusting. In excruciating pain the animal would have to run by trees, rocks, or whatever that would be adding greatly to the pain and suffering to the animal. Killing any animal should be performed with the least amount of pain and suffering. A spear would be in the vast majority of cases cruel to have to drag something like that along while it died. This man thinks killing is fun like a roller coaster or something. He must be heartless as he appears jubilant for the killing as if he just scored a basket from half court. He should be humbled to this event and thankful for the food this animal gave it’s life for. I do not consider hunting a sport as it provides protein for other animals like man.

    • Robert Campbell August 29, 2016, 11:22 am

Are you out of your mind??? Read a book, look at a video. take a breadth before slamming a guy, whew!!!

      • JMCHawaii August 30, 2016, 9:23 pm

Seriously? Man has hunted with spears for millennia. It is still the preferred hunting tool in many parts of the world including the US. Many of us would not be here enjoying life as we know it today were it not for our ancestors who looked to the spear for food gathering and protection.

    • Ed August 30, 2016, 5:09 pm

Are you seriously kidding right now? Even the native Americans celebrated a kill and given the statistics cited about run spread and distance to where the animal died, it was a clean and humane kill. I know people that have shot animals that have ran and never been found. This man used a weapon and style of hunting that predates any modern example of firearm. I applaud him for actually having the nerve and skill to accomplish this feat.

    • xLoCxRambo September 14, 2016, 12:11 pm

Dude do you know what a bow and arrow is? An arrow is just a smaller, lighter, and faster spear just launched from a stick with string!!! A spear is just a bigger and more effective tool for dispatching big targets!!! It just sounds archaic because you think spears were only used by Neanderthals and third world countries. Here’s another news flash bullets are just an advancement of the bow and arrow!!!!! Instead of a long stick attached to the tip it’s now a modified tip with powder as a propellant instead of a stick and string to move it towards a target. Wait a minute… is this proof of evolution and the advancement of man???!!!! Oh here’s another thing if you can’t understand why he’s so happy or excited then you have either never hunted or you have no clue as to what happens to the animals after they have been hunted!!! SO enjoy that Big Mac you hypocrite.

    • Ben Slam February 4, 2017, 9:26 pm

So, hunters get maligned because their quarry “didn’t have a fair chance.” “The deer/Bear/etc didn’t have a gun.” Now a guy kills one with a spear the way our ancestors did hundreds of years ago. Now because it’s a spear at close range that’s bad as well now? So what’s good? Trip wires and grenades? Killing is not glamorous, but it is necessary to kill an animal before you eat it. You see if you eat them alive it’s even more painful. Remember the next time you munch on a big mac, or eat a loaf of wheat bread that was grown in a field and took habitat away from animals so you could eat

  • Carl Skelonis August 28, 2016, 9:03 am

Obviously Under Armor is NOT dedicated to hunters, but only interested in profit. Although they make good products, I would suggest a boycott to show them hunters support hunters.

    • Nulterama August 29, 2016, 8:52 am

      Hooah !

  • Lou Von Esh August 27, 2016, 4:30 pm

First of all it seems the CEO is not a hunter and second this gives UA a chance to cut expenses.

  • Lou Von Esh August 27, 2016, 4:29 pm

Two things………..the CEO is not a hunter and this gave UA an opportunity to cut expenses.

  • Bob August 27, 2016, 10:12 am

The kill was humane and legal but why someone would want to post this video online is beyond me.
I’ve killed lots of game over the years and I’ve never felt the need to celebrate with a victory dance.

    • xLoCxRambo September 14, 2016, 12:14 pm

I’ll admit it was cheesy but I could see this as a way to encourage this form of hunting despite the backlash.

  • Beachhawk August 27, 2016, 1:26 am

Facts do not matter to liberals and animal rights fanatics. They regard reality as just another option. What’s important to them is how they feel and how they look to their friends.

  • Al August 27, 2016, 1:06 am

I’m getting a spear. Way cool!

  • Tired of P.C. August 26, 2016, 4:23 pm

America has turned into the land of pansies . Boo hoo a guy spear hunted a bear . I wish everyone had to kill their own meat and clean it before they ate it . Our Grandparents would be so ashamed of how America is today .Do you think animals have souls ? Do you put them on the same level as humans > If you do you are the problem . We are getting weaker and weaker as a society and as a Country . I believe the majority of this Country would starve to death before the killed and cleaned their own food .Most wouldn’t even know where to begin .As far as that goes most couldn’t even build a fire .This guy legally killed a bear get over it . Do I hunt for sport no but that’s not my issue . My issue is it appears people put human emotion with animals which is shear stupidity .Grow up people . Pay attention to the real world and whats going on around us . We haev such weak and timid generations if this Country were invaded and it depended on the population to keep our Republic I’ fear we would lose it .

  • Tommy Willims August 26, 2016, 4:11 pm

And shortly after, all Native American tribal councils in the US and Canada issued a joint statement saying “Huh, WTF??…That’s the way WE always did it! Now we’ll have to find a new supplier for the souviner t shirts we sell in the casino gift shop!”

  • Capt.Bob Jones (Ret) August 26, 2016, 3:20 pm

I have hunted around the world , using a spear, knife, & tomahawk , along with bow and fire arms. I have made my living harpooning swordfish, Tuna, and sharks, What ever tool you uses, it depends on placement, and the creature your hunting! I will say that those whom hunt a wild boar with a spear, gives that boar a great chance of doing damage to the hunter, than one whom hunts from a distance with a scope and rifle. If one believes that killing a bear with a spear is not fair , then let see them try doing it! Or even a deer, mountain lion, grizzly bear, or boar; you are placing yourself more on their level!

  • Dave Parsons August 26, 2016, 3:14 pm

Baiting bears being a very common and legal practice in many states has nothing to do with the subject and is typical of anti hunting propaganda that tries to focus on hunters as cowardly and cruel.
I read through the comments and noticed one hillbilly who proudly says he doesnt wear underwear and calls the guy a chump. He also states baiting bears is illegal in his holler in Kentucky where he is isolated from any knowledge on common hunting practices out side his holler. Then there is the comment from the guy who says the bear was killed with its head in a garbage can that watching the video proves to be not true.
Various comments on how the guy did not stalk the bear as he is clearly seen stalking the bear in the video.
If the bear was eating huckle berries or bait makes no difference. He still had to close the distance to the Bear with superior sight, hearing ,smell to place the spear while being in a kill zone that the bear could have also used had he discovered the guy stalking him as is clearly seen in the video.
Reading the reply from the idiot woman from the humane society where she states the bear was speared in the guts when the video also clearly shows the spear placed right into the vital area of the heart shows the idiot hysterical woman to have no understanding of where a hunter places a wound.
I agree with the comments on the hunter waiting to retrieve the bear until the next day.
I see the man as a very experienced hunter with enviable skills with the spear.
But I cannot understand why he left the bear over night opening himself up for this idiot woman to add all the imagined suffering the bear went through.
Any experienced hunter knows the bear would have went many miles had it been wounded in the guts and possibly never found.
At age 58 and having hunted in my home of north Idaho since age 12 for bear ,elk, mule deer and white tails and Moose.
My first priority as is every one I know is to gut the animal immediately so the meat does not spoil.
I have been forced to leave a gutted elk over night do to killing it late in the day and pitch black darkness is not a situation desirable to pack out or skid a elk in.
Baiting bear is legal in Idaho but not very common due to the millions of huckleberries where bears can easily be found eating them by the gallons getting fat for hybernation.
Negative comments by people in here also make me question there hypocritical comments comming from eastern areas where they hunt deer from tree stands next to farmers fields the deer come to ambushing them.
This type hunting requires little to no skills using the farmers fields as bait and sitting up in a tree ambushing a deer requires no stalking or tracking skills.
Looking at the size of the mans spear tip and comparing it to the size of bullet is not rocket science to see the superior wound it inflicts on a internal organ and the wound channel being massive for bleed out.
I see this video as a documentation of a highly skilled and experienced hunter who does what only a handful of people would have the guts to do and makes a very humane kill.
Why the bear was at the spot being baited or stalked up on while tearing up a rotten log for termites or chowing down on juicy huckle berries makes no difference.
The guy closed the distance on the bear by stalking it and chose his spear placement calmly and skillfuly drove the spear right where he wanted it.
This shows his skills above and beyond myself and every other person commenting in here.
I truly would think it unwise to call him a chump to his face based on his size and build and his willingness to get so close to a dangerous animal armed only with a spear.
I feel this guy could come to north idaho and stalk a bear with out bait in the heavy alder brush or huckleberries and do the same thing and do it buck naked if he chose even though he clearly is smart enough to wear underwear.
There are many companies making under wear that are as good or better.
Its unfortunate that a company would punish the mans wife and I question if she might have a legitimate reason to sue the hell out of the company for doing so.
Anti hunters that are also anti gun maggots have brains like granite and devoid of common sense and brain washed with ignorance cannot be reached with any facts.
We simply need to vote for leaders who keep them from gaining any power to push there ignorance on us.
They will always be out there babbling there ignorance and we can laugh at them as long as we vote to keep them from gaining any power.
But with cases like this where they find companies who will fold to there ignorance we only have the power to boycott and in most cases this doesnt work unfortuantely.
How ever looking back a few years to smith and wesson when they were owned by a british company who folded to the gun control maggots and installed locks. The resulting boycott drove the company to near bankruptcy forcing them to sell.
So boycotts do work as long as enough people join it.

  • mach37 August 26, 2016, 2:52 pm

What was wrong with the video by the spear-chucker was his victory dance. The human race seems to have a shortage of humility in recent years.

    • Alan August 28, 2016, 9:56 pm

In many cultures of the past, a kill was often celebrated for it’s contribution to the tribe.
The human race has a shortage of logic and understanding of it’s past , NOT humility.
Looks like you joined that group.
How many eat meat and NEVER think of it’s origin, or don’t WANT to think of it.
      Yet they criticize this?!?
You speak to a false humility, that’s a crock.

  • ArvadaDude August 26, 2016, 2:43 pm

I guess Under Armor is more concerned about making money than supporting hunters.

  • Hugh Mannity August 26, 2016, 2:08 pm

I would ask each of you to stand up to this SJW move and sign the petition, and ask 2 others to sign. Conservatives need to learn to make their voices heard like the anti-Freedom crowd does

  • William Carrell August 26, 2016, 1:53 pm

All anti hunting on here if you don’t like it don’t read about it. because they take our guns we will shot arrows , take away arrows, we will take up spears, We as hunters will never ever STOP !!!!!

  • Dexter Winslett August 26, 2016, 1:50 pm

Boycott Underarmour! Let them go broke!

  • Richard August 26, 2016, 1:03 pm

I’m suprised how many anti hunters follow this site and post such obviously anti-hunting comments. Ignore them, don’t give them the satisfaction that we take them seriously!

    • William Carrell August 26, 2016, 1:44 pm

Under Armour’s is anti hunting don’t buy there crap !

  • JoshO August 26, 2016, 12:20 pm

The Clinton News Network video above is amusing…such heavy handed editing from the dramatic music to the cut to a shot of a cute bear cub.

That was an impressive spear chuck, but I think he got a little lucky. Or maybe not, maybe he threw that spear thousands of times and was confident that he could hit a bear’s vital zone at that distance. Still, in my opinion his ethics are questionable at best, especially if it is true that he didn’t look for the bear until the next day, with all the meat spoiled. I personally don’t enjoy bear meat, but if you (or someone else) isn’t going to eat it, then don’t kill it.

Also, definitely appeared that the bear came in to bait. Legal or not, that’s shitty.

  • Bookwurm August 26, 2016, 12:08 pm

I would like to see him try spearing a Russian boar in South Texas…..

  • Gary Wills August 26, 2016, 11:54 am

If you had the time to Rome the woods to find the bear he would take the same time moving away. The only way to get close to one is hire a guide who knows where they are or bait them. So to hunt bear you go where there on an island trapped by water and you be the bait if you want fair game. As for sponsors it’s there loss , hunters and sportsmen make and brake companies .
There’s to much liberalism in our country , no one’s allowed to do or say anything without somebody smacking them down. Oh no he killed a bear with a spear , how about trying it if you’ve got the balls.

  • Joe August 26, 2016, 11:54 am

I wanna see him try that on a 9 foot brown bear…
Or better yet, drop down off a swinging vine and rip out the bears throat with his teeth.

    • Joe August 26, 2016, 1:32 pm

      You go first….
You might want to try it first on a dead chicken at Krogers…

      • Mark August 26, 2016, 8:30 pm

Don’t you know how hard it is to swing from a dead chicken?

  • Bob August 26, 2016, 11:48 am

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. The days of taking a trophy just to do it, and stupid stunts like this hurt all gun owners/hunters. That girl from Utah and her dad shooting a giraffe, zebra, and water buffalo are just as bad as this spear-chucking d-bag.

    • dward August 26, 2016, 2:32 pm

For the politically correct who try to make things sound bad; think on this, spear hunting is an equal opportunity sport. While one could take down a bear at 100yard with a rifle, or at 30 to 50 yards with a compound bow, a spear hunter must be within feet, not yards, of his game. Bears run fast, faster than hunters, so unless you are a very good aim, the chances of the bear overtaking you and doing you in is far greater using a spear, than any of the other methods. The interesting part however is that the spear is in fact the weapon that does the quickest job of killing an animal. Its very broad head, which is also very sharp, does far more immediate damage than the others. A rifles bullet, unless a direct heart shot, takes loner to kill – into the minute plus range. An arrow, again unless a clean heart shot, also takes minutes + most times to kill. So, as the hunter said, his method is/was in fact the most quick and humane. So, before the unknowing, unlearned and politically correct half-wits, mouth out about things of what they know nothing, try thinking once and a while.

  • Chance Preston August 26, 2016, 11:20 am

I am an avid bow hunter who wears underarmour about 80 % of the time. I also wear underarmour shoes and clothes to workout. Underarmour sponsors hunting and has several different hunting brands yet the pull their sponsorship for a legal bear hunt? A woman or Man in a suit or dress with perfume on can kill a bear with a rifle at 100yards, what this guy did was what our ancestors 100s of years ago did yet underarmour cowers and pulls sponsorship! Maybe they need to pull Football as well with all the Tramatic Brain injurys or maybe close down because all sports are too dangerous! I for one will be changing all my gear to another company! I hope many others will do the same! Those of you sponsored by UA better switch brands quick or they will soon be dropping You!

    • Bob August 26, 2016, 11:51 am

Spearing a bear with his head in a bait barrel is your idea of sport, is it? Head up Arse.

  • j. mack August 26, 2016, 11:01 am

what an asshole. he got really lucky not to wound it. lucky the bear died. quick.

  • Johnny August 26, 2016, 9:20 am

Nice spear throw, but baiting Bears or any other animal is super lame and not cool.
“Stalking”, as the article states is false. They obviously had a bait barrel in picture.
Same as hunting in Africa. Baiting is not fair, to stalk is to get near the animals on natural terms.

    • BA August 26, 2016, 11:13 am

      He wasn’t baiting the bear.
It was found scavenging trash in the area – notice how the Alberta government cleared him of any wrongdoing?
If he had been baiting, which is illegal there, he would have been charged.

      • Brandon August 28, 2016, 1:37 pm

Surely you are being sarcastic, right? Yeah, because I am always coming upon trash cans in the middle of the woods. It’s a real good place to put one to collect trash. Oh, and the clamped lid on it makes it real easy to put trash in it for whomever you think is using this trash can in the middle of the woods. No, he baited the bear. But let’s be honest, that’s how 95% of bear hunters are doing it. And bear hunting is going on all over the country like this. So let’s no be ignorant about how this is taking place. I definitely don’t think it’s the sportiest way to take prey either, but this is how bear hunting is done. Otherwise it would just be taken from a couple hundred yards away with a high powered rifle like most other big game, which isn’t much sportier to me.

  • Jonathan G. Van Winkle August 26, 2016, 6:57 am

To bait any animal is illegal. He is no hero. He is a chump. This does not prove his manhood in the least. Legal hunting I am for. To kill only for a trophy is a sad sad thing. This guy is not much of a man. I dont wear underwear anyhow being that I am from Kentucky. This kind of action is why so many people are against guns and hunting with any weapon. I think he is a poor sport. He is a champion spear chucker from some shit hole. No way this shows what a great man he is only a chump.

    • Tripwire August 26, 2016, 9:07 am

You need to learn look at state laws before speaking, baiting is in legal in many places in the US and I know for a fact they bait bears in Canada, he took a bear on foot with a spear, like it or not it took guts, I see nothing wrong with it. I’ve found dear and Elk dead from gun and bow shots and lost, it happens and any true sportsman hates it.

    • Paladin August 26, 2016, 11:02 am

You are obviously an ignorant moron. Many states and Territories allow bait hunting. It doesn’t matter how the animal is killed. Hunting only exists as a game management tool to thin the herd, you idiot. That fact that you don’t like a method of take is solely your disinformed, useless opinion and entirely irrelevant. Get some facts before you open your pie hole next time.

    • Hugh Mannity August 26, 2016, 2:12 pm

The guy killed a bear with a spear, which is why “so many are against guns” ?

You are for “legal hunting” but you are not for the legal hunting that he did?

He is a poor sport for going head to head with a bear, using a spear? What did you use when YOU went head to head with a bear, please tell us.

    • Al August 27, 2016, 1:02 am

When putting on your pants just remember: Brown to the back yellow to the front.

  • David hamilton August 26, 2016, 6:46 am

    My communication to under armour:

It is unfortunate that your support for sarah bomar has ended due to her husband’s spear hunting activity. After all, it was not sarah who threw the spear. Additionaly, this form of hunting is no more cruel than bow hunting, if conducted with skill. I’ve had black bear run farther after being shot In the heart with a rifle than this one did before it died. I’m only one person but my clothing and sports equipment dollar will be spent elsewhere from now on. You may not be directly making an attack on the sport of hunting, but the people you are trying to placate often are. Guilt by association works both ways.

    • Steve Km August 26, 2016, 9:15 am

I will stop buying Under Armour products. Too bad because as a golfer and outdoor enthusiast, I do like their shirts and shorts.

I will make sure to retell this story to all of my friends as well (golfers, hunters, and all who have common sense).

I have stuck with Nike and will continue to do so. Blow me Under Armour and that ghetto city of Baltimore that you reside in.

Not all hunters will be able to duplicate this precision, leading to unnecessary suffering. Why take a animals life for sport? That said if a company is sponsoring a trophy hunter they should have known what it is about. Maybe they can make skin tight shirts with grocery carts on them to keep people warm in the frozen food aisle and give them a sense of identity.

Poo Poo on UA for pulling their sponsorship for a legal hunt!! Now I have to find another company to buy my underwear from…Grrr! Bravo for the spear kill on a nice black bear!! While it’s not a hunt I would do…..How can you get more ethical than that? Man vs wild bear….with a SHARP STICK!!! No gadgets or fancy technology….how can you get any more fair chase than this hunt? Other than maybe jumping out a tree onto its back with a bowie knife….I don’t know how much more you could level the hunting field. I can only imagine the rush of being that close with only a spear. As I said…not how I would hunt…..But I don’t see any thing un-ethical, immoral, or illegal about this hunt. And yes, we all celebrate a little when we take home some game. Wouldn’t be human if we didn’t.

Although personally I would have retrieved the bear on the very same day and would have not waited until the next day like this hunter did, the reactions from some “animal right activists” are completely stupid and out of context.

Why? Because they first should have gone to a museum about pre-historic times. How did the first human hunters killed gazelles etc. to have something to eat? You’re right, with a spear. You don’t even have to visit a museum to learn about that. Everyone who was sitting in front of his computer and played Age of Empires back in 1997 has experienced that virtually.

If you shoot an animal with a gun, animal protestors hate you and the anti-gun community hates you anyway. If you now go back to human roots and kill an animal with a spear, well that is cruel to them either. Guess mankind should have, in their eyes, just eaten plants and even this can today be cruel to some stupid people. I think there are too many activist groups out there today, who believe that they are God and can tell us what to do and what not. I say screw them. People should be free to do what they want and when they want it, according to the law of course. Again, the only mistake this hunter did in my belief was to wait until the next day, before retrieving the bear.

The Times we live in are so twisted. When the life of a game animal carries more value than the human who hunted it. I’ll eat what I kill any day over a humanely killed chicken processed by machines after it been pumped full of hormones and antibiotics. Just to fill an order of mc nuggets. Which in turn makes mutants that have no immune system and blindly vote for criminal/murderers like Clinton. Our species has been killing and eating just about anything that moves since the dawn of time. BUT, let’s go against every natural instinct we have accumulated in thousands of years to worry about all the bull puck we are shovel fed on a daily basis. I vote survival of the fittest. Let nature wipe out the rest.

“I vote survival of the fittest. Let nature wipe out the rest.” I couldn’t agree more!! If we would allow natural selection to take its course, there wouldn’t be as many liberal idiots in the world today…..they would have done something stupid and gone extinct……but some joker thought we had to save everyone from themselves and the consequences of their own stupid acts….now we have Hildabeast running for president. Proof positive that we need to bring back natural selection.

Yeah, almost makes you wish for a SHTF situation, where these idiots would have to fend for themselves. But, they would being knocking on your door, and breaching your security when they smelled the black bear rump roast barbecuing on the spit in your back yard.

Another reason not to by Under Armour’s over priced, foreign made clothing.

        • Jim Turner September 16, 2016, 11:42 pm

I agree if Under Armour wants to sale hunting gear they need to learn about hunting. This was a perfectly legal kill and way more humane than the bear would have been to them. My god it is called hunting for a reason. Animals die and 4 seconds is as fast as it would die from a rifle. 30 Seconds maybe not depends on where you hit it. I will not be buying anything Under Armour, or supporting any sports team that does.

  • Will Drider August 24, 2016, 9:56 pm

Any company can pull their sponsorship, I have no problem with that. I do take issue for the reasoning behind it. “Under Armour” disapproves of a lawful hunt as reckless? Well then, whats the difference between this and bow hunting? How about trappers, thats the lawful taking of wildlife? Maybe they only condone one shot kills (we prefer them) and condem hunters that need a follow up shot. This is one more company that caved in to pressure from animal rights terrorists. Thats right “TERRORISTS” right by the FBI definition.
Under Armour needs to start a marketing campaign to get PETA customers because they may well loose a lot hunters with their pick and choose mindset.
People and hunters can say what they like about this spear hunt but they can’t say any part of it was illegal. The press is making the post kill celebration into some kind of perverse act, don’t we all celibrate a good shot, a successful hunt, don’t we give hearty congratulations to hunters young and old on their achievements. What in the hell will the press say when he gets it mounted or rugged! The horror, the horror!

Every time you condem a legal act you undercut the freedoms of others as well as open the door to threaten yours.

    • Jim Turner September 16, 2016, 11:45 pm

Could not have said it any better. I think they may as well get out of the Hunting Gear Sales if they are going to cave in to Peta over something like this. They will get none of my money I will spend it on people who support hunting and support the people they hire as sponsors who do nothing wrong.
