Ideal for rugged backcountry ventures when rifle weight is paramount, Tikka’s new T3x Lite Series of rifles tip the scales, depending on caliber, between 6.9 and 7.1 pounds.
Customization can be found in many areas, including barrel length, which allows shooters to choose between lengths of 22.4 and 24.4 inches. The magazine is detachable and holds three rounds. The fluted bolt gives the rifles a sexy look while reducing weight. Of course, in true Tikka fashion, the bolt proved to be silky smooth. In addition, the over-sized bolt handle boosts functionality.
All T3x Lite rifles are streamlined in design and showcase a grip that is ergonomic and engineered to resist moisture. Plus, grips are interchangeable to allow the shooter the ability to modify the grip’s angle. An additional attachment point means one can change the width of the stock’s fore-end easily. When it comes to customization, this rifle delivers it in spades.
Other sure-to-be-cheered features include a widened ejection port to ensure easy ammo feed and reduced ejection issues. Plus, all T3x models sport an extra screw on top of the receiver to allow for the attachment of a Picatinny rail, even for those who chose to use a large scope. Shielding the rear of the bolt body and the firing pin is the Robust Bolt Shroud.
The T3x Lite family includes models cloaked in Veil Alpine, Veil WideLand, Black and Desert Tan. MSRP starts at $1,100 — an incredible price point that was being discussed regularly by SHOT Show goers. The rifles will be available in early March.
