A young Missouri archer fatally shot a purported thief in defense of his neighbors. The minor, whose name is being withheld, shot the thief with an arrow after catching the man attempting to steal a tractor on the property of family friends.

Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak described the incident that happened earlier this month near the town of Dittmer. Marshak identified the man killed as 40-year-old Michael Stotts of Dittmer, MO.

According to reports, the young man was on his way to a tree stand for some deer bowhunting when he encountered the trespasser in an apparent attempt to steal a lawn tractor and a wood splitter.

The boy called his father and the man confronted the suspected thief, but during the incident, the suspect turned and ran toward the boy. After multiple warnings, the boy “in fear of his safety,” according to the family attorney, loosed an arrow at the advancing man.

Deputies did not take the boy into custody and are not currently pressing any charges. They also confirmed that he had permission to hunt on the neighbor’s property.

The sheriff’s department is investigating multiple other thefts from the property.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. If you’re a grown-up and you charge towards a kid, and said kid is holding a lethal weapon, then “Stand by to stand-by m*****f****r!”. Better yet, Mr. Grown-ass man, DON’T STEAL.

Who says the news is never good?

The ‘point’ of the story…don’t try to steal tractors in Dittmer, MO…and, as reported, the ‘point’ was made.
Now…is he going to have the whole animal stuffed and mounted…or just the head?

By-the-way…Rodney…read the article. The kid was protecting his own life as the ‘animal’ was charging him.

    Hey Rodney,

If you read the story, the boy was not defending the tractor. He was defending his own life!

  • Rodney October 6, 2021, 7:01 pm

I was not there but a tractor is not worth a life and a lifetime knowing that he took a human life

      Rodney …
What about “the suspect turned and ran toward the boy. After multiple warnings, the boy “in fear of his safety,” do you not understand??
Could have been if he didn’t take the shot he maybe would not have to worry about a “lifetime”??

I just love reading a story with happy ending. Just imagine the money this young man has saved the taxpayers.

We must limit unchecked bow & arrow violence. These are “weapons of war” that don’t belong “on our streets.” A new bill introduced by (insert any Democrat) would ban all production, sales, and possession. Additionally, “high capacity” quivers would now be restricted to only 2 arrows. Buy back program is proposed.

I like your humor! Now if someone with Rodney’s low mentality can not understand the situation – he is then a lost cause!
