An Italian poacher illegally hunting boar may have accidentally shot and killed his father after mistaking him for game. The two were poaching boar together in the Postiglione national park.

The 34-year-old man, who has not been identified, said he heard noises and saw a shadow moving in underbrush and took a shot in the dark. The father, who has been identified as Martino Gaudioso, 55, was shot in the abdomen.

The son immediate took his father to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police are charging the man with “culpable homicide” and have confiscated their rifles.

Hunting boar is illegal in the national park, according to local media.

Italian animal rights activists are calling for harsher punishments for poachers who they say are turning the Italian countryside into a “Wild West.”

“It is a real national emergency,” said Michela Vittoria Brambilla, according to the BBC.

Last year Italy’s environment minister called to end all hunting in Italy after three others were shot and killed under similar circumstances.

It sounds like if they just keep letting Poachers do what they are doing the problem will take care of it’s self.
In this case Moron Number 2 shot in the dark and killed Moron Number 1.

I don’t see this as a loss and view it as a positive thing.

I have zero respect for poachers whether they be in Africa killing Big Game for their Tusk, Asia for their Tiger Balls, South America for the win Parrots or Europe and the US for the deer and pigs.
I say Good Riddance and may it happen to them all.

The son wasn’t a child, he was a 34 year old man. I might feel sorry for him if he was a child, but he was old enough to know better. He’ll carry that burden the rest of his life as he should

I feel bad for the son, that’s a heavy load to carry,
His Dad, apparently, just just as lacking in teaching his own son about common sense gun safety as he was about being a responsible hunter & law abiding human being.
Looks like, this time, the boars win. Yay, boars!
