Design & Optics

The 4–20×50 Veracity PH sits in a 30 mm one‑piece main tube, offering a 5× magnification range and ED glass optimized to reduce chromatic aberration and boost light transmission. That translates into sharp, high-contrast visuals even in dawn or dusk conditions. The glass delivers crisp edge‑to‑edge clarity and excellent low‑light performance. The scope handles well in supported shooting systems, though it’s heavier than minimalist designs at about 29 oz.

Revolutionary PĒK Elevation System

At the heart of the Veracity PH’s technology is the PĒK (Programmable Elevation Knob), a click‑less digital elevation turret. There are physical markings at ¼‑MOA scale, but dial inputs are registered via an internal sensor accurate to 0.1 MOA, eliminating traditional detents.

The click-less PĒK elevation knob uses internal sensors to dial precise corrections—no clicks to count.

Rather than relying on mechanical clicks, each turret rotation is translated by the sensor into data displayed inside the scope via a built‑in heads‑up display (HUD). The HUD shows your dialed distance (in yards, meters, or MOA), wind‑hold corrections, rifle cant and angle, and battery status—all without breaking your cheek weld.

BurrisConnect App & Ballistic Workflow

The scope links via Bluetooth to the BurrisConnect app, which becomes the command center for ballistic setup. You input rifle and ammo profiles, environmental data, and elevation offsets. Once you’ve fired your zero round at 100 yards (or any distance), you set both the mechanical zero (dial turret back to native zero) and the digital zero inside the app and HUD. From that point on, turning the elevation turret to match the HUD’s readout equals dialing to distance—fast and intuitive.

Users can also fine‑tune the ballistic curve within the app by adjusting for muzzle velocity or BC deviations at several distances. That tightens the internal calculator, improving real‑world accuracy.

Setup & Zeroing – Field Experience

The scope zeroed easily. Once bore‑sighted and a few confirmation shots were sent, the process of syncing the mechanical and digital zero was straightforward. The mechanical zero turn‑stop makes resetting simple. With no clicks to count, the system feels different at first, but the digital readout removes any uncertainty.

Tracking tests also showed the scope performed very well. Returning to zero after dialing multiple distances was consistent, and the scope’s adjustments tracked accurately to the point of impact.

Performance at Distance

The Veracity PH makes dialing for long‑range shots easy. The HUD tells you exactly how far you’ve dialed and shows cant correction. In your own tests, the scope’s point of impact lined up perfectly with turret inputs, which should give confidence to shooters pushing their rifles out to extended ranges.

When it came time to stretch things out, I ran the Veracity PH to 675 yards on steel. Using the HUD made the process almost effortless. After ranging the target, I simply dialed the elevation knob until the display matched the yardage. No counting clicks, no second-guessing, and no referring to a DOPE card—it was as simple as turn, check the HUD, and shoot. Each shot impacted exactly where expected, and returning to zero afterward was just as quick. This kind of intuitive dialing takes away the mental math and lets you focus entirely on reading wind and making a clean trigger press.

Field Usability & Reticle

The Veracity PH comes with the Wind MOA FFP reticle, and in the 4–20× you can choose the Rapid Cross MOA illuminated reticle. The reticle remains visible and precise across the magnification range, though at the lowest powers in dim light it becomes less prominent.

The Wind MOA reticle gives precise holdovers for long-range shots while staying simple enough for hunting

One drawback: the scope is only offered in MOA. Many precision shooters would like the option of a MIL version for consistency with other optics and spotting gear.

Limitations & Battery Considerations

Some users note that once you set the digital zero, the HUD won’t display distances below that point unless you reset the zero. I don’t see this as a problem, but it’s worth being aware of.

One drawback worth mentioning is that the Veracity PH does not have onboard environmental sensors. The scope uses whatever temperature, elevation, and humidity you originally programmed through the BurrisConnect app. Suppose conditions change dramatically, such as going from a low elevation range session in summer heat to a high elevation hunt in the cold. In that case, you will need to update those numbers in the app or accept that your ballistic solution may be slightly off. It is not a dealbreaker, but shooters who move between drastically different environments will need to keep that in mind.

rifle scope turrets
The Veracity PH uses two CR2450 batteries, but the scope remains fully functional even if they die.

The scope runs on two CR2450 batteries to power the HUD. The turret and reticle remain mechanically functional even if the batteries die, but the digital display will go dark until they’re replaced.

Some states don’t allow any electronic features in scopes for big game hunting. Regulations typically target deer, elk, and other big‑game species, not varmints. In those states, using the Veracity PH for coyotes or ground squirrels is usually fine, but you’ll need to check the rules.

Personal Observations

From hands‑on use:

  • The scope zeroed without any hassle.
  • Tracking held true through repeated adjustments.
  • The HUD was helpful for staying on target without breaking shooting position.
  • The only real wish is for Burris to offer the scope in MILS, not just MOA.

Overall Impression of the Veracity PH 4–20×50

The Burris Veracity PH 4–20×50 blends advanced technology with practical usability. The PĒK elevation system and HUD simplify dialing, while BurrisConnect provides an easy way to manage rifles, ammo, and environmental data. The glass is sharp, the field of view is generous, and the scope tracked reliably under recoil and repeated use.

rifle scope
The Veracity PH isn’t just tech-heavy—it’s a practical hunting optic for coyotes, ground squirrels, and more.

For varmint and predator hunters the Veracity PH provides an undeniable edge. For big‑game hunters, it’s a great tool when legal, but make sure your state regulations allow it.

This is a forward‑thinking scope that performs as advertised. With easy zeroing, accurate tracking, and a simple interface, it’s one of the most approachable “smart” optics on the market.
