BlindGrass offers a variety of products, and among them is the BlindGrass DryShell Bag. It does have some advantages, especially if you find yourself in wet, damp, or consistently miserable conditions.
Blindgrass makes a variety of great waterfowl products. I have discussed them in previous articles. The DryShell Bag has plenty of access for both shells, keys, phone, federal duck stamp, or anything you need to keep dry. Weather and water have a way of finding dry things.
For the Rough Conditions
I hunt both layout, marsh seats, and dry field. Dry field is often not a true definition of the mud and wet conditions present. The DryShell Bag will help me in all of those conditions.
Two boxes of 3” shells will fit while still in the box. I do not think more than one box of 31/2” shells will fit if still in their box.
With the DryShell Bag, you have the option of dropping in boxes of shells, but the design is more for loose shells. You know, the ones that end up at the bottom of the boat or blind that find water. I like the idea that I can add shells and simply leave them in a place I can access easily. That would be the bottom of the boat, hooked to the blind panels or just tossed outside the blind. It also provides those extra backup shells just in case you struggle shooting. There are also times when a hike is required, and you want to carry a small load. Having your phone and the shells you need in a waterproof bag makes this easier.
The DryShell Bag seals while you roll it over three times and clinch the straps. A carabiner makes attaching it securely to just about anything very useful. The bag is sealed well with a rounded bottom to better accommodate items.Regardless of the conditions, the Blindgrass DryShell Bag will keep your important equipment dry.
DryShell Bag Capacity
The DryShell Bag can hold a couple of boxes of shells, and you can see through the outer transparent panel to read what you have in the bag. The material is durable, and the dry bag comes in both Blend HD and Pintail brown camo. Clips secure a water-tight seal, and a carabiner lets you clip it to a shell bag, backpack, blind interior, or anywhere you need to secure the bag.
I used the bag to store two boxes of shells and left them in the layout boat while using the boat. This was my backup if anything happened to my other shells. I also stored my duck stamp in the bag.The DryShell Bag comes in two types of camo: pintail brown or Blend HD. The transparent other material makes it easy to see what is in the bag.As you open and close the DryShell Bag in inclement weather, condensation may occur. If closed up, it will stay dry, but I found I needed to wipe out the bag when I used it in really bad weather.
DryShell Bag – Multi-Purpose
The DryShell Bag will fit two boxes of shells, but it is tight, and the phone might be a close fit. When the shells are loose, most phones will fit easily. However, if your phone is in some kind of case, it may or may not fit. The transparent material is also touch-sensitive, so you can operate the phone through the material. I was also impressed that the phone responded to face recognition through the material.
DavidVaught began hunting waterfowl at a young age due to his father being a waterfowl biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Today he hunts both public and private waterfowl grounds and is always working on something related to waterfowl throughout the year. He loves to turkey hunt and fish for walleye and crappie in the spring. David is a university professor, holds an NRA Level II coaching certification and works with youth in trap and skeet shooting in the summer with his annual trap-shooting academy.
