3/8″ Thick Combat Knife Has Lifetime “PRY” Warranty – Hoffner Knives SHOT Show 2020

in Authors, Paul Helinski, SHOT Show 2020

When it comes to knives, a lifetime warranty is very often a bunch of bunk. If you break it, the company is just going to say “well a knife isn’t made to pry off such and such,” and you will be out of luck.

I reached a point in life where I refuse to carry a knife that is over $100, and generally I don’t even approach that number. It just isn’t worth it, when there is a virtual guarantee, in my case, that I will use it for “something stupid,” and break it.

Enter the “Beast,” a 3/8″ thick monster from Hoffner Knives. It comes with a lifetime pry warranty. That assumes, I guess, that no matter what you use the knife for, it’s covered.

I would like this better if it was a folder, because I’m not carrying a belt knife every day, but maybe we’ll get one in from Hoffner at some point and put it through it’s paces. I know I have at least one storage trailer that has a ridiculously sticky door.

The most important detail, and we talk about this in the very short video, is that Hoffner has been in business since 1985. With a “lifetime” warranty, lifetime can mean your lifetime, or the company’s lifetime. In this case, it’s probably a good bet that your warranty will last at least as long as you remember that you have it. At $179, and totally customizable, I think it’s a decent buy, and a great investment.

As soon as the weather warms up and I finish my 2X72 belt grinder, I’ll be making a few, kind of like that, and 3/8″ thick for myself!

The link for that knife states that it is 5/16″ thick, which is definitely not the same as 3/8″. Nothing wrong with 5/16th, but I would like to see a knife that is 3/8. Just sayin’….. 🙂

I’m holding a Hoffner Beast in my hand right now and I can truly attest that is indeed a full 3/8ths of an inch thick from tip to butt. It’s similar to a crowbar with a cutting edge and point than just a regular knife.

I’d just get a Busse and I know it won’t break for my life time or anyone else’s that gets it after me.
    I’ve tried, can’t break them.
