We saw the Heckler & Kock VP9SK at NRA 2017. If you’re a fan of HK, then I don’t need to tell you anything else. If you’re not into HK, no worries, move along, nothing to see here…
But seriously, this HK is subcompact goodness! Ambi controls, HK VP precision strike trigger, interchangeable grips and backstraps, patented charging supports for easy racking, Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 rail, corrosion-resistant machined steel slide, cold hammer forged barrel all in a striker-fired package chambered in 9mm.
There’re two purchase options, though I’m still trying to nail down the exact date of availability:
Part No. 700009K-A5, VP9SK, 9mm with 1 flat and 1 extended floorplate 10 round magazines, MSRP: $719
Part No. 700009KLE-A5, VP9SK, 9mm with 1 flat and 2 extended floorplate 10 round magazines with night sights, MSRP: $819

HK also wants you to know that 13-round and 15-round extended magazines will be available in November.
My one note in handling these fine pistols today was that I much prefer the extended floorplate magazine over the flush. I have large hands, so that added room for my pinky really made a difference.
I’d also say that I’m not sure I like the look of the extended magazine version. While more rounds are always merrier if you’re in an actual gunfight, for daily comfort and concealment I think the 10-round extended floorplate is the way to go.
This is a gun that I can’t wait to try out at the range. I’ve always thought that tweeners (carry guns that fall between full size and single stacks) were for people who just couldn’t pick a lane. But this one has me questioning my stance.
