Hillary the Golden Goose for Gun Control?

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Authors, S.H. Blannelberry, This Week

Hillary Clinton is the great white hope for the gun-control movement. What president Obama failed to do in terms of rolling back the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners, many hope that Hillary will be able to achieve should she be elected in 2016.

Specifically, anti-gunners are hoping that Clinton will aggressively push for a federal ban on AR-15s and other commonly owned and widely popular rifles, a federal ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and universal background checks that would cover private transfers and sales.

While banning black rifles and 10-plus round magazines is high on the agenda, arguably, the most pressing goal is universal background checks. The reason it is priority number one is because polls have shown widespread public support for UBCs, including a 2013 Quinnipiac University poll that showed 90 percent of Americans favoring background checks for every gun sale.

“As Hillary runs for president, she has a tremendous opportunity to educate the American public about how effective background checks are and the need to finish the job,” Dan Gross, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, told the Hill.com.

“Background checks are more popular in the United States than baseball and kittens,” added Gross.

There’s little doubt that Hillary will promote background checks on the campaign trail. However, when she is touring in the Midwest, the Rockies, the deep South and in other places where gun culture is greatly valued, I wonder if she’ll be as expressive in her support of those other legislative objectives?

In January 2008, while running against Obama — who played it rather coy on his anti-gun beliefs — Clinton did make it clear that she wanted to reinstate her husband’s former ban on “assault weapons.”

“I would also work to reinstate the assault weapons ban,” Clinton said at a Democratic primary debate. “We now have, once again, police deaths going up around the country, and in large measure, because bad guys now have assault weapons again.”

More recently, in 2014, Clinton touted the merits of a ban on black rifles, though in this statement she confused the semiautomatic rifles that are in common use with very rare and costly automatic weapons that are heavily regulated by the National Firearms Act.

“I don’t think any parent — any person — should have to fear about their child going to school or going to college because someone, for whatever reason — psychological, emotional, political, whatever it means — could possibly enter that school property with an automatic weapon and murder innocent children, students, teachers,” she said at the CNN town hall.

But then again, there were times were she tried to persuade the electorate that she was an avid hunter and sportsperson.

“I’ve hunted. My father taught me how to hunt. I went duck hunting in Arkansas. I remember standing in that cold water, so cold, at first light. I was with a bunch of my friends, all men. The sun’s up, the ducks are flying and they are playing a trick on me. They said, ‘we’re not going to shoot, you shoot.’ They wanted to embarrass me. The pressure was on. So I shot, and I shot a banded duck and they were surprised as I was,” Clinton said while on the campaign trail in 2008 in Wausau, Wisconsin.

It’ll be interesting to see how Clinton handles gun ownership this time around. Her handlers and policy wonks must be aware of the fact that, as Pew Research showed in 2014, more Americans think it is important to protect the Second Amendment than believe it is important to control gun ownership. Certainly, this information — along with the tried and true phenomenon that gun owners show up to the polls — must give them pause to consider how vocal they want to be with their anti-gun agenda during the campaign. Too much kowtowing to anti-gunners and too much heavy handed gun-control rhetoric could cost Clinton her shot at taking back the White House. She must know that. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Hillery is a crook period. We can’t let her in or she’ll finish the job Obama started of ruining the country for future generations. Also, on the agenda is insurance for gun control owners. NO, it’s a back door anti- constitutional way of registration. Beware of the traitors!

Hillary is the type of person who you invite into your home and later discover she’s stolen some of your personal property.

Hillary Clinton….. Ha ha ha….she’s a goose egg alright. But there’s nothing golden about her or her Alfred e. Newman look alike husband, billy boy. She is an evil bitch and can not be trusted at all. Mrs Clinton or frumpy as I call her has never had any business being a secretary of state let alone our president. It’s bad enough we’ve had obamanation in the White house for two terms and he totally f…..up everything. If frumpy is elected were done…..BOHICA people.

Handguns are the ones used most in crimes…not rifles or shotguns…and SURELY not automatic/assault weapons.
Criminals will circumvent any and all background checks…universal or not…people just have to accept that fact.
Prosecute the laws on the books now…make penalties for illegal gun ownership and use strict and harsh…
Want guns off the streets? Forget drug testing…do searches of government subsidized housing for guns and ammo.
They have dogs that can assist. Find a gun? See if it was purchased legally. If not? Loss of housing and benefits…for life.
Not PC…will affect too many young minorities…will never happen. BUT…would make an actual difference in gun crimes I bet.
Also…train ALL police dogs to detect guns/ammo…so you can detect on the street or in a car as well.
I don’t fear the background checks. I buy but have never sold a gun.
Going to line the pockets of gun transfer dealers or going to make criminals out of some currently legal gun owners.

Interesting solution you proposed there. Yes I think it would help but agree political incorrectness nixes it. As for universal background checks: the jihadis who did the mass shooting at Charlie Hebdo had fully-automatic machine guns in a country that requires not only an extensive background check, but permission from the government and a plethora of registration procedures which are strict everywhere in the country and even more strict in cities like Paris, before a law-abiding citizen can legally own or transfer even a single-shot .22. That was a big help to the people who got massacred, now wasn’t it?

If you want to know who Hillary`s allegiance is to then google the following
    June 6 2008 Chantilly Virginia
The Deal was done that day and the fix was in. Mister Zero got to be Prez and The (Female Dog) told to play second fiddle with a shot at the title in 2016.
The Election took place in June of that year not in November. The banksters they met with trashed the world economy and caused untold suffering around the world…and have reason to fear retribution. Not from their puppets which is why no bankster has done the perp walk. No they are afraid that as more learn of what they are and what they have done then no government can protect them from that retribution. Which is partly why they seek to disarm Americans.

Hillary Klinton is a congenital liar! She grew up in Park Ridge, IL which is in anti gun Crook County.

This article would actually be decent if it wasn’t riddled with grammatical and spelling errors.

  • srsquidizen May 4, 2015, 8:15 am

The small city I live in has lost 3 cops to criminals in the past 2 years. NONE of the perps used a so-called “assault rifle” but ALL of them were criminals with a history that should not have been on the street.

The problem, Hillary, is that we are locking up non-violent criminals (except the ones with money and influence like you) for way too long and turning the violent ones loose on the street. Then they get weapons the old-fashioned way. They steal them. Requiring old codgers to run a gauntlet of federal red tape before they can give a shotgun to their grandson is not going to reduce crime either–even if 90% of the idiots your pollsters ask are dumb enough think it will.

Gun control in the US is becoming the Third Rail” of American politics verses Social Security. I would be very surprised if she pushes the issue on the campaign trail and will leave it alone until after she is elected. I sure am not going to vote for her. She has way too much baggage and gun control is only one line item.

The right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Period. Duck hunting is not what we have that right for and nobody cares if you allegedly shot a duck. Get your rifles and high capacity magazines now before Hilary Clinton or one of her equally liberal un-American friends make it more expensive or impossible. Also if your reading this and you haven’t got a 35 dollar NRA membership you are basically just helping them. Hilly doesn’t see the need for assault rifles, which let’s be honest they are, because she has the secret service protection. We the people don’t have luxurys like that. why not redistribute that force to protect schools instead of your unqualified run for president. If ar15 and ak style rifles are made illegal then only the criminals will have them the criminal doesn’t care about gun laws or gun control why is this so hard to understand. Having an armed guard at all schools might not be accepted at first but then again it would create jobs, good paying jobs for law abiding people And it would help combat the threat of massacres. Moreover there are millions of semi autos in the country and they will never get them from the people who intend to do bad with them.
