Former president Barack Obama and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton took to Twitter Friday to say a few words about “National Gun Violence Awareness Day,” an annual celebration that through misinformation attempts to convince the public that the optimal way to stop violent men from acting violently is to disarm responsible citizens.

Likewise, Hillary mentioned the children, suggesting that we need to do more to keep them safe.

Both Obama and Hillary are right in the sense that we need to do more to protect kids. But they’re wrong if they believe that we make kids safer by taking guns out of schools. In recent months there have been at least three instances where armed resources officers foiled would-be school killers.

One in Lee County, Illinois; one in Great Mills, Maryland; and one in Ocala, Florida. Unlike the situation in Parkland, Florida, where the on-duty resource officer failed to take action when the bullets started flying, Resource Officer Mark Dallas, Resource Officer Blaine Gaskill, and Resource Officer Jim Long put their lives on the line, confronted the gunman and saved lives.
In the video above, you can see Resource Officer Mark Dallas being honored for stopping the shooter in Lee County. Unlike Hillary and Obama, he avoids vague platitudes and instead offers sage advice to the politicians currently in office as to how to actually keep children safe.
“I’m honored and humbled by those who have referred to me as a hero, but I respectfully refuse that label and I much prefer dad,” said Officer Dallas.
“You [politicans] have the power to be heroes of our children when you support the training and placement of resource officers in our schools,” he continued.
If we’re serious about keeping children safe, then we need to listen to Officer Dallas. Not the lip service being paid to the anti-gun lobby from a has-been and a wannabe.
