HAVA Hosts Disabled Veterans at Rockcastle Family Day

Park City, KY – September 23, 2019 — Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) announces the very successful completion of their 7th Annual HAVA/Rockcastle Family Day at the Park City, KY shooting complex on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Over 300 disabled veterans, family members and volunteers assembled to share a day of shooting, gift bags, prize winning, good food and great fellowship with fellow military veterans who have bravely protected the American dream.

The day started with the national anthem sung by double amputee Rick Cicero supported by double amputee violinist Chris Fleming, both HAVA managers; and an impressive archery exhibition by world renowned trick-shot artist Bryon Ferguson. After lunch the fun started with 10 stages of 3-gun fire.  Younger participants had fun in archery and air soft training and other kids-fun with several bounce houses and games.

After dinner the free adult raffle featured guns and other products from Ruger, Sig Sauer, Hornady, Glock and Remington to name a few of the contributing sponsors. Several dozen veterans’ kids also participated in the Kids Raffle with 100% of them going home a prize winner.

“The Fort Campbell and Fort Knox military communities have supported each of our Rockcastle Family Day events since 2014,” said Tom Taylor, HAVA Chairman. “Our focus, to serve the complete family unit, addresses the fundamental issue for these great Americans in trying to re-construct a normal life in the face of life-altering realities. Our message is that the best of life is yet to come for these veterans and we encourage active outdoor activities as its cornerstone. With promoting renewed hope for the future and an active lifestyle as our goal, it is our great privilege to serve, and to be the conduit to them from a grateful nation and the outdoor industry.”
