H/T to our friends over at TTAG for reporting this story. One of their readers, Oneifbyland1776, sent them this message about an older WEC fight:

So, I’m flipping through the channels tonight and I stopped at MSG+ to watch a World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) event for a few minutes. I’m not really a fan, but every once in a while, I stop and watch for a few minutes. As I’m watching, I notice one of the fighter’s shorts keeps getting blurred out anytime he faces the camera…so, I get to wondering, what the heck could he have on his shorts that would be so offensive that even an Extreme Cagefighting event would have to blur it out…so, I do some searching and low and behold, this is what I find . . .

Fighter Rob McCullough is sponsored by GunsAmerica.com…and that was just too much for MSG+ to show on TV in between the pictures of the bloody faces as the two fighters beat the crap out of each other…that’s apparently okay, but an advertising for GunsAmerica is just too far over the line.

Well said! To clarify, the reason our GunsAmerica ad was blurred out was because of a deal the UFC made with Fox back in 2012.

Fox gave the UFC a bundle of cash, reportedly the seven-year deal was worth upwards of $90 million, for broadcasting rights. But as part of the agreement, Fox decreed, “absolutely no firearms, ammo, hunting or knife companies will be permitted as sponsors in any Zuffa-promoted events.”

Zuffa is the parent company for both the UFC and WEC. And Fox owns MSG+.

So, for all you Fox lovers out there (Fox News, Fox Sports, Fox whatever), you may want to contact them and voice your displeasure with their perplexingly inane stance on this gun ads.

Aaron, I don’t know when you last watched FOX! But be real if it wasn’t for FOX we wouldn’t know any honest news at all!!! CNN is in the same category as MSNBC, 110% morons!! Here’s my description of all the main stream media! ABC( Anything But Correct ), CBS( Can’t Believe Stories), NBC( Nothing But Crap),CNN( Clinton Network News),MSNBC( Mostly Stupid Nothing But Crap), PBS( Political B—S—), and the crap is never ending!! I’ve been watching FOX News and FOX Business for over 15yrs( since 9-11-01 when I started watching news constantly). They have some people I don’t like for their Fair and Balance format, but in comparison to the other bozo’s there is no choice!! But I’m going to call them out on this ammo and gun crap, Sean Hannity and Judge Jeanine Piro and many others including Tucker Carlson are gun owners and if they allow this type of nonsense in their company I’ll voice my displeasure accordingly!! I’ve convinced many people I know around the country about watching FOX News and FOX Business, the others I’m not familiar with, I can/t stand HIPPOCRATES!!!! WE legitimate gun owners are sick and tired of being made into something we are not!!! Weapons of all kinds are a threat in the wrong hands, it’s the idiot holding them that’s the problem, NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ANYTHING ANYMORE!!!!! Joe L.

My family will ALL STOP watching and buying anymore ufc./wecfight clothing from anyone until they start re sponsoring the buy guns and gun promoters, were just 5 people but that what we all liked. .a r will not pay to watch anymore either. Our money stops. Now,,,,and I will tell my friends to do the same

That was not the purpose of this article. As a commenter explained, there are laws in other countries that forbid the advertising of guns, and worldwide distribution was of course a business decision we would all make.

Screw them. The shorts are cool. You guys should sell them. Start a line of clothing based on your logo. I’d buy it

Aside from John Stossel, Fox is just as bad as CNN. They ruin the conservative brand in America and contribute to democrats getting elected. They’re just as statist as CNN.

The only positive about the station is they blur out very traumatic, violent footage. CNN will show guts, bloody murder weapons, dead bodies and dying children.
