Gun-control group calls NRA ‘pathetic’ for ‘Firearms and the Blind’ video

NRA News commentator and former Navy SEAL Dom Raso published a video on Monday in which he argued that when analyzing basic Constitutional rights, we ought to err on the side of freedom.

“Every law-abiding blind individual should be able to have whatever guns they want,” says Raso. “And if you disagree with that statement, but you haven’t thought it all the way through, you don’t take your rights seriously enough.”

Well, Ladd Everitt from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence emphatically disagreed with that statement and the notion that visually impaired individuals should be allowed to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

“At this point, it’s hard to be surprised by any comment made by the NRA, no matter how extreme or daft,” said Everitt, the group’s communication director in an email to GunsAmerica.

“Even a child would understand the obvious danger posed by a blind person carrying a loaded weapon in public (or at home, for that matter),” he continued. “But the NRA, in their quest to drive up gun industry profits, sees only dollar signs. Pathetic, but also telling.”

I know a woman who has a Utah concealed carry permit and a pistol. She has been blind from birth. I am satisfied that she is safe and that she can beat any attacker in the dark (when most violent attacks happen).
