Grey Ghost Slimline Medical Pouch

With trauma shears for size reference.

Of the most neglected items I see in kit setups, medical is by far number one. If you do dangerous stuff, someone is going to get hurt eventually, that is a fact. Whether it is wishful thinking or just oversight, I have preached many times that it needs to be corrected. You shouldn’t carry medical gear. YOU HAVE TO carry medical gear. And our buddies over at Grey Ghost Gear just made that a little easier on us with the Grey Ghost Slimline Medical Pouch.

Slimline Medical Pouch is Sized Just Right

This week, we got a chance to look at the new Slimline Medical Pouch, and it is a doozy. It is just big enough to carry some trauma kit for short duration care and small enough to not feel like a backpack on your hip. Designed from the ground up as a minimalist option, the SMP takes up just two Molle channels, via MALICE clip attachment. It has a full-length zipper down each side for accessibility, and a pull tab Velcro closure up top to keep you from having a yard sale in the woods.

Interior

The interior features elastic loops to segregate kerlix, tape, pressure dressing, etc, and has a small back pocket for things like flat pack meds. The front has a bungee retention system for a tourniquet and loops for trauma shears on the sides. There is even a hook and loop backing on the front if you prefer to mark your trauma kit with a cross patch or blood type patch.

Other Uses

As a medical kit, this thing is dynamite. But for once, I can recommend not one but two. By happy accident, this pouch is also perfectly sized for NVGs, a red dot magnifier, or a small set of binos. With dimensions of 8 inches tall, 4 wide, and 2.5 deep, this is a very useful pouch to have around.

Construction

MALICE clip attachements included

Construction is high grade, which we have come to expect from Grey Ghost Gear. The pouch is made of 500D Cordura, and double stitched for a long life cycle. A drain hole in the bottom ensures you aren’t carrying extra water after a river crossing, and the pull tabs on the zippers mean lighting fast access. This should absolutely be on your short list for medical pouches to add to your kit.

I don’t get it… You but a pouch to put your chit it, in this case your med kit… But you end up strapping most of it to the outside where it will get snagged up, pulled out and lost… But hey, I guess everyone has bills to pay
