GOA: ATF’s Brace Rule is Incoming – Here’s What You Need To Know

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Authors, Industry News, S.H. Blannelberry, This Week

Gun Owners of America put together this rather exhaustive list of everything that’s wrong with the Biden administration’s pistol brace ban (see video above and doc below).

Needless to say, the second Biden rolls out the new regulations on pistol braces, which may require one to register their brace-equipped firearm under the NFA, the lawsuits will start flying!

Of course, GOA is urging its members and 2A advocates to, in the meantime, try and stop the inevitable by telling their lawmakers to support the (Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today) SHORT Act.

The SHORT Act would remove the red tape and tax burden that comes with the purchase of Short Barreled Rifles (SBR), Short Barreled Shotguns (SBS), and Any Other Weapons (AOW).

“By deregulating these NFA firearms, this legislation prohibits the ATF from enacting an unconstitutional pistol ban through a simple rule change — safeguarding the Second Amendment and preventing Americans from being subjected to the Biden Administration’s tyrannical, gun-grabbing tactics,” said Congressman Andrew Clyde (R-GA), as GunsAmerica previously reported.

It’s highly unlikely that the SHORT Act clears the House, let alone the equally divided Senate. And there’s zero chance Biden would ever sign it into law.

Yet, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to make it a reality to keep the gov’t from sticking its nose where it doesn’t belong.

Call this number to contact your lawmaker and tell them to support the SHORT Act: (202)-224-3121.

    COMANCHE OUT!!!%

The SHORT act is flawed. Instead of simplifying the NFA by removing SBRs, it complicates the NFA by adding an exception. The more complicated and verbose a law, the more loopholes for the ATF to exploit.

I live in Michigan. This proposed new break law is unwarranted. All pistols in Michigan are registered with our local police and state police at time of purchase. When purchased legally it is a pistol and it is staying a pistol. Making an AR PISTOL into a SBR does not change the firearm or the owner. Everything is the same except our FEDS get another $200. PURE HARASSMENT and BS by this gun grabbing BRANDON IDIOT

We could make life simple if the law were changes to make every firearm 26 inches and under a handgun and everything over 26 inches a long gun regardless of cconfiguration.

For the life of me, I cannot understand how a brace makes a handgun more concealable or more destructive.

Add the condition “in its shortest operable configuration when measured perpendicular to the bore” and It’s what I have been advocating since the proposed rule was first published.

Considering the current state of the Federal Courts I don’t see how the ATF could lose.

Federal court in north Texas. The Second Amendment Foundation sued in Jan. 2021 and have been beating the ATF in this case for almost 2 years. The judge is fed up and ordered the ATF to publish their final rule by Dec. 19. The ATF is scrambling and it wouldn’t surprise me if they opt to drop the case.
