Giffords launches multi-state ‘Protect All Women’ campaign

On Tuesday in Portland, Maine, pro-gun control advocate and former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords launched her 9-state ‘Protect All Women’ tour aimed at making it more difficult for domestic abusers to obtain firearms.

“We can lead the way,” Giffords said during the event. “We stand for common sense. We stand for responsibility. We can change our laws. We can win elections. Please join your voice with mine.”

Since federal law already prohibits convicted domestic abusers from possessing firearms it’s not exactly clear what Giffords is hoping to achieve with this campaign, but Portland Police Chief Mike Sauschuck stands behind the approach she and her organization, Americans for Responsible Solutions, is taking.

“The only way to get this conversation started, to get your foot in the door … is with the domestic violence approach,” Sauschuck told The Associated Press. “Because it’s that important and politicians are that scared of it. Because they should be.”

In addition to Maine, Giffords will be making the rounds at New Hampshire, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Minnesota, Iowa, Oregon and Washington state.

It’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, Giffords accomplishes with the ‘Protect All Women’ campaign.

This Campaign of the Gifford’s Isn’t going to work, Why Not Empower Women to Stand Up and Protect Themselves instead of Cowaring in the Corner or Waiting for the Police? Because We all know that when You need the Police, They are just Minutes Away!!!!!! And Gifford’s Husband Doesn’t have any Shame, Pimping His Wife Out for the DemonRats Anti-Gun Bullshit Agenda!!!!!

Gifford uses her shooting almost every time to “drive her point”, however. Not once does she EVER mention that if current Arizona law had been enforced, she never would have been shot in the first place.
She also NEGLECTS to mention that not only is she still receiving her dull congressional salary, she is getting the best care available. Well, at least available to her, McCain, and their ilk.
We need to take these politicians down a notch or two.
AMY that want to restrict any individual right should be recalled immediately!
And term limits need to be the law of the land.
The founding fathers wanted lawmakers to be “citizen law makers,. In other words, serve one or two terms, then go back to their job. They did NOT want 30 and 40 year professional politicians.
That’s why lobbyists have so much say. They write big checks so the average people cannot have a voice. That would be too dangerous for them. (Big federal money for football, movies, you name it) They don’t buy politicians without the expectation of a high return on their investment.

Most men know the Domestic Violence approach is a negotiating point for a divorce and is used to get more money and custody so it is a weak method and only preaches to the choir.

How do you make firearms harder for domestic abusers to get? Why, by removing all firearms, of course! That is her aim. She wants it to happen by unrealistic smart gun laws that operate far ahead of the technology, even further ahead if our ability to afford them. She is just a tool for the anti’s that want all our guns so they can control everything we do.

“The only way to get this conversation started, to get your foot in the door … is with the domestic violence approach.”

In other words, “domestic violence” is just being used as an entry point for more extensive/restrictive gun control legislation. It’s a Trojan Horse because keeping guns away from convicted (and that’s important right there) domestic violence offenders has such appeal.

Isn’t going to help. Isn’t going to help. Isn’t going to help.
Take away every firearm in the nation and you wind up with the violence seen in Great Britain and Australia. A woman armed with a firearm equalizes the equation. Most women are not as physically strong, ergo, the physical abuse they receiver. Empower women! Support programs that teach women to protect themselves and stop relying on laws and police that are rarely there on time to do it!

It is most disingenuous that a former (albeit) Democratic Congresswoman like Garbrielle Giffords is as passionate about limiting the rights of all people to attempt to punish the minority of CDV offenders whom use a plethora of objects (weapons) to commit the acts of violence against women. Especially when she hails from a state where concealed carry has been an established fact of life for decades and as well that the man whom went on the active shooting rampage which ended in her wounding and the deaths of the 6 people (wounding how many eludes me at the present time), was a registered Democrat supporter of the Obama administration. That is one inconvenient fact that you never hear discussed when the subject of this shooting comes up.

Another thing that irks me with this
‘ privileged family’ is that when her astronaut husband purchased a firearm a while back, he had to fill out a form stating that he was the owner/ recipient of the purchase. He then gives the firearm away to the PD to get it off the streets. I thought that it was a felony to falsify information on this form and yet NOTHING was done to him for this act. Anyone else would still be in jail

This woman is beyond stupid. She is achieving nothing with the fear campaign. As the article points out , it is already ilegal for domestic abusers to posses a firearm so what is her point. In other hand , an armed and prepared woman can avoid any further abuse or death from anybody by defending herself. Gifford is still traumatized. She should not be in politics anymore. She is not mentally capable and only being used.

You are absolutely correct in saying that she is being used. It was disgusting to watch her own husband trying to capitalize on her for his own political promotion. Sickening.

Real sad exploitation going on there.
        Hard to watch.
I have a better idea for protecting women.
Give them free firearm safety & training classes.
Once completed let them take home the gun they trained with.
