From Hickok45:
“Nothing too scientific here, just a little fun trying to determine if a good handgun is totally worthless as compared with a submachinegun. 🙂 If I had done this six or seven times, not sure what the results would have been, but my educated guess is that the difference would be small and that I would have likely gotten faster with the G17, which I don’t think I shoot as well as the G19. I was pretty deliberate and slow with the Glock, but I wanted hits.”
“With carefully looking at the times, I think I get a one – second difference, with the subgun being one second faster. I like the hits a lot better with the Glock.
“With this video, I’m sure there will be a lot of ‘You Should have done done it this way or now do this or that.’ We might do it again sometime when I get another fully auto to drop in. Just as an FYI, I actually won some bets by years ago when I had my Uzi. I’d bet that I could take out five pepper poppers (steel knock–down targets) with my 1911 before someone else could do the same with my Uzi. I never did lose those. It’s hard to beat aimed fire, although a subgun DOES have its place, not doubt about it.

If you can knock down 5 targets with a 1911 (or any semi-auto) faster than someone else can with a full auto, either the full auto guy really sucks, you’re controlling something that doesn’t make sense — like insisting on the magazines having the same capacity or some other unrealistic constraint — or the targets are built to withstand a slower firing or smaller round from the carefully chosen full auto (like the Uzi you mentioned) vs. a faster velocity bigger caliber semi-auto (like a your 1911, which I assume fires a minimum of a 9mm like the Uzi with at least double the muzzle velocity).
Keep the same guns, everything stock, and replace the 5 targets with 5 living things, and I’ll guarantee the full auto wins every time…I mean, for it’s intended use, sure a .460 or .500 magnum will probably kill a bear before it mauls you better than a stock Uzi will. That being said, in 99% of cases, any fully automatic weapon with a 30 round mag will kill something or a group of somethings before it kills you much more effectively than any semi-automatic weapon with a 12 – 20 round mag.
You keep your Glock 19; I’ll take my p90.
FPS Russia had a bit different result. Besides, a century of military data proves full-auto rules. if you deploy a full-auto like a semi-auto you will get poor results. if you treat your full-auto as if it were
full-auto you get good results. its also helpful to have a weapon thats acts modern.
the first time HiCock did this it was with an UZI that sounded like it had a ROF of 350 rpm, the gun in this vid not much better. an AR 9mm at 1200 rpm or an Mp5 or would have smashed those targets in no time, especially if you weren’t swinging all wild left target, right target, left target. reminds of an old martial arts flick when 20 guys surround one but they all take turns coming at the one guy. nope, they are all gonna bust out all at once to maximize their effectiveness and that is precisely when the smg shines. if you don’t believe then read about the initial Soviet deployment of the PPSH41 against the Germans in WW2.
TO MUCH TALKING COULD CARE LESS WHAT HE HAS TO SAY WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE ACTION, THE SAME AS ALL VIDEOS THAT ARE POSTED ON HERE
