A striker-fired autoloader, FN’s 509 Compact MRD no doubt packs a full-size punch in a compact package. Available in a 9mm offering, this double-action operation pistol is perfect for commercial, law enforcement and military use.
A patented Low-Profile Optics Mounting System complete with plate adaptors allows for the mounting of more than 10 different optics. The pistol ships with all-black co-witness iron sights. Improved front and rear cocking serrations on the slide make the 509 Compact MRD a breeze to rack.
The 509 Compact’s barrel measures 3.7 inches, and shooters are going to love the ambidextrous magazine release located on the grip behind the trigger guard. The barrel is cold hammer-forged stainless steel and boasts a recessed target crown. Fitted with an improved flatter-face trigger that has a pull between 5.5 and 7.5 pounds, trigger manipulation is easy and crisp. The grip on the 509 Compact has been shortened to aid in concealment, and enhanced grip textures ensure rapid follow-up shots regardless of the shooting conditions. Another pleasing aspect of the pistol’s frame is the MIL-STD-1913 accessory mounting rail.
Weighing just 25.5 ounces and measuring 1.35 inches across, the FN 509 Compact MD ships with a pair of interchangeable backstraps, one 12-round and one 15-round magazine, a locking device and a stylish FN logo soft pistol case. The pistol will accept all higher capacity FN 509 magazines as well.
The FN 509 Compact MD is currently available and has an MSRP is $799.99.

“has a pull between 5.5 and 7.5 pounds”
Why is it that trigger pull weight cannot be made more precise?
Depends on where you place the gauge, low or high on the trigger. Remember a trigger is nothing more than a lever, the more leverage, the lighter the pull will measure.
