One of the biggest questions one faces when considering concealed carry is, well, where do you put the gun?

Ideally, one is looking for a spot that is comfortable, safe and readily accessible. It goes without saying, but the clothes one wears often dictate or, at the very least, impact the decision on where to carry.

Since guys and gals typically have different wardrobes, what works for him may not necessarily work for her. In a nutshell, that was the impetus behind the Fashion and Firearms Concealed Carry Extravaganza held on Saturday in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Over 300 women attended the event designed to showcase both stylish and safe ways to carry a firearm.

“There are ways to carry, whether you’re wearing a cocktail dress, shorts and a tank top,” Cathy Brown told Fox59.

Safety was a priority, according to Brown, who was asked about the Michigan woman who died last month while trying to adjust a firearm located in a bra holster.

“That’s why we’re doing this. It’s all about safety,” she explained. “There are four rules to gun safety and when all four rules are followed, accidents are very unlikely to happen.”

One attendee talked about what compelled her to become a gun owner.

“I never thought I would be a gun person,” confessed Dawn Hillyer. “It’s about protection and women taking control and being your own hero and being able to protect yourself.”

Hiller was stalked by a man for a period of about six years. She lived in fear. But that changed when she began to learn how to safely use a firearm.

“He gets out of prison in 2017 and I’m not going to live like that again. I’m not gonna run. I’m not gonna hide. I’m gonna stand right up,” said Hillyer.
