Most online streaming programs are, shall we say, garbage. “Reacher” is one recent counterexample. It is absolutely worth watching if you enjoy a strong main character righting wrongs in the world with reckless abandon. Season one debuted in 2022 with astounding results for Amazon. Setting viewing records, it became Amazon’s top show, amassing 1.8 billion minutes of viewing within just the first three days of streaming.
The program is based on Jack Reacher, a character developed by author Lee Child. Reacher, a retired military police officer, has been the protagonist in nearly 30 books by Child. Tom Cruise played the role in a 2012 movie called, you guessed it, “Jack Reacher.”
Alan Ritchson plays Reacher in the Amazon series. Though Ritchson and Cruise are physically quite different, the role of Reacher is always the same. He is a drifter, a fighter, and a winner. Though he prefers to be left alone, he simply won’t tolerate bullies or other predatory behavior. Trouble seems to find him, and then he takes care of business.
The only thing wrong with the Amazon series Reacher was that it ended. The wait for season 2 has been a long one, but that wait is over. December 15 the next episode drops, and Ritchson has posted on social media that there will be a season 3. I wholeheartedly recommend watching Reacher.
