A Democratic congressional candidate was caught on camera telling supporters that although she wants a ban on “assault weapons” she can’t say so publicly because it would hurt her chances of winning.
“When I was at this thing today, it was the first table I was at, a woman said, ‘How do you feel about assault rifles?’ And I said they should be banned,” said Tedra Cobb to a group of teens at a May 18th event.
“And I said, you know, people were getting up to go, to go get their lunch because it was a buffet, and I just said to her, I want you to know Cindy, I cannot say that,” continued Cobb, who is hoping to represent New York’s 21st Congressional District.
Cobb went on to say that she was following the advice of Tricia Pleau, a member of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, the gun-control organization funded by former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.
“And she [Cindy] said, ‘Well, I want you to’ and I said, ‘I won’t win,'” explained Cobb. “I said Moms Demand [Action] says, and Tricia Pleau said, ‘Do not say that you want an assault rifle ban because you will not win.'”

Instead of coming clean and admitting what her true motives are, Cobb released a statement to The Post-Star that punts on the question of whether she supports a ban on black rifles.
“There are a lot of common-sense things we need to do right now to make our kids safer without getting stuck on a stalemate issue like an Assault Weapons B an (sic) that would not pass this Congress and would not get signed by this president,” she wrote. “It’s a moot point, and voters in the North Country know that. Let’s talk about the things where there is common ground, where we can make progress right now. Our kids deserve no less.”
What’s humorous about all of this is that Cobb willingly entered the Post-Star’s “no-lies” pledge, which seeks to hold the candidates responsible for their political chatter along the campaign trail.
“This is an easy commitment for me to make,” wrote Cobb. “I will conduct the general election campaign in the same manner I conducted my primary campaign, with honesty and integrity.”
Really? How’s that honesty thing working out for you Ms. Cobb?
TEDRA is an abbreviation for – “TEDious RAnt”.
Give her time – when elected she will show her true intentions to ban all guns
it’s hard to get as worked up about this stuff as it used to be when gun owners don’t have ANY allies any more. dems don’t seem any worse than repubs when we have a repub president who calls for confiscation and a repub senate that can’t get a simple reciprocity bill out of committee.
Quals for political orifice in the people’s republic of n.y……honesty, integrity, uphold The Constitution? Naaaaa.
Spoken like a true democrat. Just like obama, she’ll have more say once she’s in office.
And by “assault weapons” she really means “all guns”. That is the ultimate goal. So-called assault weapons are just the tip of the iceberg.
How would it be news that a politician would lie to get elected, it’s SOP.
2A supporter here….
Most of them (all parties) lie to get elected or re-elected.
Just look at Bitch McConnell as another example…..
poor excuse of a Conservative…..Cannot believe the people keep falling for his BS….
We upstate NY’s do not need another Commie Democrat . The state is corupt enough.
And let us not forget that they take an “oath of office” to support and uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and then turn around in an attempt to over power any and everything that gets in the way of them achieving their treasonous agenda
Is it lying if she just avoids talking about it? That is not a lie by omission, is it?
Following you “logic” I’m unarmed if I keep it concealed
Ok – she says winning is her goal and if she has to lie to win she will lie. She is no different than everyone in the Democratic. Party whose doctrine is Lie to win.
Strzok lied his way thru yesterday’s hearings just as he was trained to do by the FBI. But as he lied without a waver in his voice his body language and facial expressions told us differently.
