Defense Distributed, a leader in the field of homemade guns, is showing off their new Ghost Gunner 3, a tabletop computer-controlled milling machine that makes receivers from aluminum stock. They’re making the announcement with an arthouse short film demonstrating the machine and a receiver.
The Ghost Gunner 3 is capable of producing an AR receiver out of bar stock smaller than a complete receiver by machining it in three discrete sections, a receiver body, a magwell base and a buffer tower extension.
A general-purpose mill, the Ghost Gunner 3 is capable of machining anything small enough to fit inside of it. It comes with plans and can make standard and large-frame AR lower receivers, AK receivers, 1911 receivers and complete 80 percent receivers as well.
The purpose of the Ghost Gunner 3 is to promote private gun-making in the home, particularly in the face of increased regulation of 80 percent receivers and kits. While the ATF is currently considering a new rule on 80 percent parts, many local jurisdictions are enacting their own restrictions on the right to make arms at home.
“People are gonna make guns,” said Defense Distributed founder Cody Wilson to Reason. “They’re gonna choose gun privacy. They’re gonna choose ways to acquire weapons outside of government oversight.”
“There’s a world of things that are not gun parts,” said Wilson. “We will give you the technology to turn these things into guns and gun parts.”
An extension of the previous-generation Ghost Gunner and Ghost Gunner 2, the Ghost Gunner 3 will work with existing jigs and plans to make firearm receivers and other components.
“Ghost Gunner 3 allows you to manufacture firearms with confidence and ease, in the privacy of your own home,” says Defense Distributed. “GG3 removes material 5 times faster than GG2 and the new unibody construction provides greater rigidity, drastically improving finished part quality.”

The Ghost Gunner 3 ships with a set of plans to make popular firearm receivers but also works with third-party plans for other projects. It can even be used with engraving software to make custom parts with logos or other markings.
The Ghost Gunner 3 runs $2,500, and can be reserved with a $500 deposit. They even offer layaway options for home gunsmiths working on a budget.

They should have selected a different company name. Their company name alone will be a lightning rod for the anti “ghost gun” folks.
Maybe some along the lines of 2nd Amendment Mfg or Roll Your Own Mfg or Brandon Mfg.
You mean like Defense Distributed?
Who cares if anti-gunners are offended? They don’t care if they offend us!!!
Yep, I have always been perplexed by the idea that those who wish to take away our rights should be handled with kid gloves.
