We’re fans of a good pistol caliber carbine. Every year we see more options for those who want a gun that offers increased accuracy and better ergonomics. Yet it is hard to beat some of the old-fashioned workhorses of the past. The M1 Carbine, with its rich pugilistic lineage, can be a serious tool for home protection, and a fun gun too. But .30 carbine isn’t easy to find these days, and it isn’t as cheap as it should be, either. 9mm, on the other hand, is back on the shelves just about everywhere. Why not chamber an M1 in 9mm? Citadel has done just that.
They had the 9mm M1 carbine at SHOT Show last year, but it has yet to make it to the market. According to the representatives at the show booth, the wait is almost over. They say to expect the rifle in March or April. The Citadel uses Berretta’s 92 style magazines. It will have an 18 inch barrel and will come with either a synthetic or wood stock. The MSRPs will be $539 and $642 respectively. This little 5 lb. 8 oz. carbine has the potential to be a lot of fun and easier on the wallet than .30 carbine.
I would like to see the carbine in the 5.7mm. I measured it and I think it would work. What a hot little jeep/truck gun.
Seems to me this has been done already. Someone already had an M1 Carbine
available in 9mm with a Choate pistol grip stock on it years ago. Universal maybe?
Marlin camp carbine was the only one that I know of that Choate made stocks for.
Took a look at 22 cal. carbine at the gun store today. A plastic bayonet lug,please!! I wonder if sarco’s replacement m-1 carbine which is metal would fit on this barrel? Any thoughts on this guys.
Any word on whether they actually listed to their customers and upgraded the shitty plastic sights and bayonet lug to quality metal?
Nope, I held one today. Still crappy plastic 🙁 Camp Carbine or TNW’s Aero Survival Carbine for me.

going to order one today i bought a james river armory M1 in 30 carbine and it is a great little weapon.
i have some left over m9 mags from the army and this will work great.
Well, let`s see. Originally Citadel made it in .22 and now plan to bring it up a single notch, to only 9mm? They should have brought it up to 40 S&W. C`mon.
With only a zillion Glock magazines in circulation, what ever possessed them to use Berretta 92 style magazines? I know the military uses them but this will be marketed to the civilian population. Just wondering…
As had been said, I too had the pleasure of owning a VERY NICE INLAND DIV. ,but I was made an offer I could’nt refuse I I took the money and bough a Beretta CX4 Storm, in 9mm. There is everything from a15 to a 32 round avalible and the accuracy is great. The weapon looks great and comes in .40s&w,and .45acp, also! This weapon that wantsto take a beautiful little M1 Carb, and disfigure its classic lines by sticking a pistols mag in it and distroying the beautifully classic lines of such a beloved little weapon. Make a mag that looks correct and you might have a winner!
I had an Inland Div. M1 carb in the best shape I ever saw. I sold it for $2,000.00, and was well pleased! Loved it but I took the money and rand to the gun shop and bough a Beretta CX4 Storn, in 9mm and never looked back! It is superbly accurate and has mags from Beretta that are 15, 20 and even some 32 rounders! It can eject to right or left and has rails to connect lights , fore grips etc. and they cost under 1,000.00…A very good looking weapon and it comes in .40s&w, and .45acp, also!
I HAVE A MARLIN CAMP CARBINE CHAMBERED IN 9MM, AND IT IS AWESOME, ACCURATE, AND CHEAP ENOUGH TO SHOOT THAT I CAN PLUG MY 30 ROUND MAGAZINES IN AND HAVE A BLAST.
I had the PC9 for a while- great little shooter. Ruger’s problem was that it was a one of a kind design. If it could have used mini14 or 1022 accessories they might still be in production.
Corey, mentioned the Ruger carbines, and I saw them at the 2004 NRA convention in Pittsburgh. I liked them but I figured I would wait for the .45 auto, which I thought for sure they would produce next. It didn’t happen and they dropped the 9mm and .40 S&W versions to boot. I think they missed a chance to sell a lot of their carbines, IF they would have produced them in .45 auto. I made this suggestion to Ruger but I guess they didn’t hear it often enough. Am I the only one that thinks a .45 auto version would have sold well? Maybe its something they could be talked into doing now?
I think a gun like this will be a big hit with the prepper crowd. Before they became too expensive the Berretta CX4 storm was on my wish list. I shot one every week at the range and I had a slug of 92 mags. If Citadel can offer quality at this price point I will have to put one on my wish list. It is cheaper then an AR conversion kit but I might wait a year to see if any big problems are reported.
Too cool! Now, if they would make it an option to either use the Beretta mags, or XD’s or Glock’s, then you’d really have a great thing. Oooooh, and how about offering it in .40 S&W AND 10mm!!!!

I agree,10mm using Glock magazines would have been perfect for this. How come nobody makes a 10mm carbine?
Because it was a dead caliber that has had some recent popularity.
years ago late 1985 or so at newburg new york gun shoow there was a older gentleman who was selling converted m-1 carbine in 10 m/m ,was around for few years never heard anything bad about his work .about the time the blues sky korean carbines show up on market and i had a few thought it was time to let him convert one over.but never heard of him again a shame lost chance at good idea ,
How about if they were made New Jersey compliant, no bayonet lugs. flash hiders, or muzzle brakes or 15 round mags only. They would sell here.
Or you could remove the communists you have running your state and just get real guns like the rest of us.
actually because they have no other “evil” feature it would actually be allowed to have a Bayonet lug OR a flash hider, one of the other. you could have a muzzle brake on the weapon though. Muzzle brakes and Compensators are NOT illegal in NJ
The M-1 in 9mm and/or 45 will be welcomed to all who have this caliber weapon so it will be more efficient in the purchasing of ammo. To me that makes a big deal because it will save money.
I have a WWII era M-1 Carbine (.30 Cal) and it is the best general purpose rifle I have ever had. I am a gun enthusiest and have many types of guns and I can say without a doubt, this M-1 Carbine in 30 Cal is as good as any I have which consists of makers; Springfield Armory, S&W, Ruger, Remmington, Mossberg, Wilson Combat and more.
Considering this M-1 is as old as it is and used the available technology of the time, it is as accurate and reliable as any. I love this little rifle.

Did Ruger already do this, PC9/40??? Never sold well, but it’s a nice carbine…
I agree, the 92 magazine does not seem to be at a good angle to me. At that angle the round would seem to be pointing up at a 20 to 30 degree angle. Doesn’t seem conducive to reliable feeding.
Citaldel’s M1s have a terrible reputation for fit, finish and reliability, and are often found on sales sites such as this one for far below MSRP. Will this be any different? Past history suggests that it won’t. And that 9mm magazine looks absolutely terrible.
Citadel hah a problem with the 22lr version when it first came out. The suddenly disapeared from the market place for almost a year and than reapeared. Since then, I bought 2 of them – 1 wood stock, 1 black stock. My daughter & I have taken them to the range quite a few times. No problem and fun to shoot. I don’t like the mags but they have not been a problem.
We can thank our Imperial President in the White House for the shortage of affordable M-1 carbines in America. Obama’s ban on allowing surplus WW 2/Korean War era weapons to be reintroduced here has driven the price of existing M-1 carbines to more than $1000 for a workable weapon. Obama along with his cool aid sippers won’t be satisfied until only the government has guns.

Active collectors and home defense consumers find these little rifles very desirable.

Why wouldn’t they use the Glock mag. they would sale a ton of these even if they are junk?
