Chicago Labor Day Weekend Leaves 6 Dead, Including Dismembered Infant

in Authors, Brent McCluskey, Rapid Fire, This Week

Chicago’s Labor Day weekend was riddled with violence, including 6 deaths, 27 injuries, 30 shootings, and the dismemberment of a toddler.

It was supposed to be a time of celebration and reprieve from the daily grind, but this year’s Labor Day weekend was instead filled with morbid scenes of violence.

On Friday alone there were three deaths and 13 shootings. Saturday brought nine more shootings, but thankfully no further fatalities. And on Sunday there were three deaths and eight shootings.

Worst of all, police discovered a dismembered toddler floating in the Garfield Park lagoon, leaving the city puzzled as to why and how that could happen.

Remarkably, this year’s Labor Day weekend isn’t necessarily the worst that Chicago has seen. In 2013 there were eight deaths, and in 2014 there were 36 wounded.

So far this year Chicago has seen 1,729 shooting victims and a total of 308 deaths.

ISNT CHICAGO ONE OF THE HIGHEST GUN RESRICTED CITY? THEN THIS MUST BE FAKE NEWS. OH WAIT, ITS ALSO ONE OF THE HIGHEST CRIME CITIES TOO. GOOD THING WE RESTRICT RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS FROM OWNING FIREARMS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES BUT HAVE NO REAL PLAN TO STOP CRIMINALS FROM GETTING ILLEAGAL FIREARMS. GOOD JOB UP THERE IN CHICAGO. MAYBE SOME DAY FOLKS WILL SEE THE LIGHT.

It’s a sad state of affairs when this kind of crime happens anywhere. And no one can honestly say that all crime will go away if everyone owns a firearm. You will always have sick individuals who want to cut up infants and throw them into the lagoon or adult children who beat and stab their parents(Atlanta) and break the gas line to blow up their house, or women who drown their children by driving their car into the lake. But there is a lot of crime that would not happen, if those would-be-criminals knew that everywhere they went, there were armed law-abiding citizens armed and ready to defend innocent people.

I prefer counting number of people shot, rather than number of shootings.

I get flak for reading the Chicago Tribune every day, but I like knowing how much worse they are than Kansas City. Even though we just had a similar set of tragedies over the past couple weeks.
