Two gun control bills are awaiting the signature of Colorado Governor Jared Polis while another is in the final stages of passage after being approved by both chambers of the legislature.

That would mean Chipman’s nomination would require 50 votes, plus one. Given the Senate is split evenly, this would mean Vice President Harris would be the tie-breaking vote. Obviously, if given the chance, she would vote to confirm.

“The faster we get people across the finish line the more lives we save. That’s all there is to it,” Gov. Justice said Tuesday. “If the tab just keeps running the cost is enormous. The hospitalizations are enormous. We have to get all of our folks across the finish line.”

“If no guns are made they can’t be sold and the right to keep and bear arms is lost without passing a gun ban,” he added. “This is a sneak attack on the Second Amendment.”

“These ads are a reminder that background checks aren’t a partisan issue, and that the vast majority of Americans support common sense steps to keep guns away from dangerous people,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety.

“It’s just an indication of the problem we have with the scourge of gun violence in this country that we need to do much more at a federal level to stop,” Art Acevedo, chief of the Miami Police Department, told CBS’ Face the Nation.

“Enough,” he continued. “Once again, I urge Congress to take immediate action and heed the call of the American people, including the vast majority of gun owners, to help end this epidemic of gun violence in America.”

In effect, the rule would mean that many manufacturers would need to get pre-approval from ATF for new firearm designs.

The Firearm Carry Act of 2021, or as it’s also known HB 1927, cleared both chambers of the Texas Legislature and will now head to the desk of Gov. Greg Abbott.
