SAF founder Alan M. Gottlieb stated that Gov. Grisham lacks authority to suspend the Second Amendment even during alleged emergencies.

“I have emergency powers,” Grisham told The New York Times. “Gun violence is an epidemic. Therefore, it’s an emergency.”

However, the implicit trust that customers place in the company should not be taken for granted. It should not expose them to potential breaches of privacy by Big Brother.

“Nobody claims traffic victims are killed by cars or trucks,” he noted. “Instead, media reports acknowledge 30 percent of crashes involved alcohol-impaired drivers, 37 percent of the people involved test positive for drugs, and another 28 percent were speeding. People do those things, not the cars they drive, just like guns don’t have a finger to pull their own trigger.”

“People need to realize this is just the next step in the anti-gunners’ longform playbook to enact backdoor universal registration of firearms, and eventually, to confiscate all firearms. They will not stop until that day,” he added.

“Make no mistake about it, Executive Law 228 is designed to punish law-abiding gun owners. It’s another example of egregious government overreach designed to make it more difficult and expensive for law-abiding gun owners to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
