California Assemblyman Miguel Santiago wants the state to close down gun stores indefinitely in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

An FFL may carry out the requested activities through a drive-up or walk-up window or doorway where the customer is on the licensee’s property on the exterior of the brick-and-mortar structure at the address listed on the license.

The Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund is putting up big money this year to register thousands of young voters ahead of the 2020 election.

“What Rep. Steube has done is introduce a bill that would hold ATF accountable,” he continued. “No more variable wait times that consistently last over a year. We applaud Rep. Steube for his leadership on the matter, and look forward to working with him to help spread the message and push his legislation.”

“The Second Amendment does not require that gun stores be singled out for special treatment and allowed to remain open during the most significant public health crisis of the last 100 years,” said Eric Tirschwell, managing director of Everytown Law.

It went on to add that while 163 cops tested positive, another 1,272 officers around the state were in quarantine and 1,435 were “out for other reasons.”

Amanda Marcotte, a political writer for Salon.com, believes that now is not the time for the public to be arming itself.

More than a handful of other states have taken the exact opposite approach to ensure gun stores stay open during the crisis so that citizens can continue to exercise their right to keep and bear arms.

“I don’t want to get to the point of being alarmist, but we are scaling all of our considerations,” he continued.
