Those who have followed my writing over the years will, no doubt, remember that I am a self-avowed Smith J-frame addict. That being said, more than one friend has encouraged me to take a serious look at Ruger’s little LCR. This assignment was just the nudge I needed.

Ruger LCR – Goodness in 22
Published: June 12, 2021 { 22 comments }I recently evaluated the Ruger LCR in .38 Special. As a follow-up, I wanted to evaluate the LCR in .22 LR. eing a fan of the Smith & Wesson J-frame, I am fortunate to own a Model 43C which is also chambered in .22 LR. This review also gave me an opportunity to compare the LCR with the Smith.
The Unique Chiappa Rhino 30DS X
Published: April 30, 2021 { 23 comments }It’s ugly! It’s heavy! It’s clunky! It’s expensive! It’s unconventional! Yes, it is! But damn if it doesn’t shoot! The Chiappa Rhino revolver is probably the most uniquely designed revolver produced in the last 100 years or more.
Colt’s Combat Commander Custom Carry
Published: April 25, 2021 { 16 comments }Colt went well outside the box on the new Custom Carry by selecting some of the best parts on the market. While the name sounds rather benign, this Custom Carry is one of the most well thought out, and feature rich, 1911s on the market today.
Wheelgun Perfection: S&W Model 640
Published: February 7, 2021 { 37 comments }The stainless construction, combined with the longer barrel, made the 640 significantly easier to shoot when compared with the alloy guns. My friends have told me that I’ve never met a J-frame that I didn’t like. That is not quite the case but certainly, the new 640 has a lot to offer.
$5000 Revolver – Korth Mongoose Silver
Published: January 23, 2021 { 38 comments }The Korth Mongoose sells for close to $5,000! I have no doubt that this may be the most expensive revolver ever covered by GunsAmerica. Yes, you can buy three and a third Pythons for the cost of the Mongoose.
Smith & Wesson Model 19 Classic – Return of the Combat Magnum
Published: November 22, 2020 { 50 comments }Smith & Wesson’s K-frame series is, without question, the most prolific series of revolvers ever produced. If my count is correct, Smith offers, at least 14 models based on the K-frame. Calibers includes .22 LR, .38 Special, .357 Magnum. However, the Queen of the K-frames is, and will always be the Model 19 Combat Magnum.
Kimber K6 DASA Combat – Self Defense Wheelgun Extraordinaire
Published: November 1, 2020 { 49 comments }In my opinion, the K6 series of revolvers are some of the best personal defense revolvers on the market. In a world of polymer wonder nines, I appreciate that Kimber has dedicated significant resources to designing and manufacturing a solid wheelgun.
S&W Model 649 Bodyguard
Published: October 4, 2020 { 15 comments }It has been 61 years since the Bodyguard was introduced. The fact that it is still in production is a credit to a design that has proven timeless.
S&W Model 638 Bodyguard
Published: February 29, 2020 { 16 comments }It has been 65 years since the Bodyguard was introduced. The fact that it is still in production is a credit to a design that has proven timeless. I have always had an affinity for the little J-frames and the 638 has found a home in my daily lifestyle.
