In the survival world some products are in a class by themselves. I decided that this would be the case with a new discovery I made last week called “The Pocket Shot.” Originally I had intended to cover slingshots and slingshot arrow shooting contraptions, and in my travels I discovered The Pocket Shot, but when it got here I quickly realized that it deserved its own space. The Pocket Shot is really just a thick rubber balloon, held by a plastic ring. But this simple device is not a toy, and a serious weapon. It fires standard slingshot balls, and there is a full arrow kit. As something that you can slip into a bugout bag, where nobody would even suspect that it is a weapon, I don’t think that The Pocket Shot has an equal.

This week I’m just sharing a pretty cool find with you guys that I scored on a website called Banggood. I often laugh at survival advertisements that feature a guy in camo and a bandana on his head, with a dirty face of course lol. Live of the land! Sharpen a stick and spear deer with it. Eat roots. And for most of us, dead in two weeks, including the idiot with the bandana on his head.

In a perfect world we all have enough secure storage for all of our guns, and not only do our homes offer us ample space for giant safes, those safes also magically appear with no conspicuous delivery and team of installers. For the real world, there is the bolt together, take apart Snap Safe. It still arrives by truck freight, but the box does not resemble a safe, and you can take the pieces in one by one, inconspicuously, up the stairs, whatever, without advertising your safe to the neighborhood.

I want to vomit sometimes when I see the lame stuff that is being thrown out there into the prepper market. Prepping has become a hot topic, but I think very few people in America understand just how grave our situation has become. I recently covered some of the disinformation when it comes to long term storable survival food, and this week I’m getting back to the topic of radiation. DHS just released a request for Wearable Intelligent Nuclear Detection (WIND) devices, but the concept of “dosimeters” has been around for decades. Just check your dirty bomb fear porn at the door. Radiation is one of the more dangerous topics when it comes to surviving after the collapse. This is a brief overview, and some inexpensive resources.

The title of this article sounds more like a scientific paper than a survival topic, and that is by design. I would prefer that the dufus brigade not read it. Canning food demands attention to detail, and though this method of canning is a fringe, do not try this at home kind of idea, it is still canning. You need to pay attention to the details. I would not suggest canning with just paraffin wax except in a genuine “use or or lose it” food survival situation, but it does work.
