During the 2018 SHOT Show, Nikon released several new additions to their wildly popular BLACK line of optics. While perusing the new products at the Nikon booth during the Show, one product, in particular, the BLACK RANGEX 4K Laser Rangefinder, caught my eye. Chatting with the Nikon representative, he stated that the unit was capable [...]

XD-E- Now Available In Men’s Sizes.
Updated: March 4, 2018So in a nutshell, all of the reasons to carry the XD-E I might not necessarily agree with. Some of them don’t apply to me specifically. But I can understand why they were done.
M&P-10 Sport – Bargain Bin Price That Is Big On Performance.
Updated: March 1, 2018I must confess that sometimes I am a bit of a gun snob, especially as it relates to rifles. I don’t have any full custom second mortgage guns, but I generally look well above the price point of the M&P 10 that came in for review this week. As a retired military sniper and [...]
Sight Swap! Put XS F8 Tritium Night Sights on Your Glock
Updated: March 1, 2018XS sights install slightly different than most but are still easy to do (Make sure to watch the video!) The rear sight is held by set screws, pre-embedded in the sight block. The sight dovetail is like a pyramid, getting wider at the bottom

See Why Clay Switched to this New Everyday Carry Knife: The Tecpatl from CRKT
Updated: February 22, 2018In testing, I found the Tecpatl to be a fantastic weapon. In fact, it is my new everyday fixed blade (since I live in a free state, I can carry a fixed blade).
Riton Optics — A Season Afield of Use & Abuse
Updated: February 21, 2018I love new toys. While in the hunting and shooting world there are many tried and true brands and models, I’m always eager to give new stuff a try. Riton Optics is most definitely the new-kid-at-school in the optics world, but that’s not always a bad thing. Founded by a team of veterans – of [...]
Best Entry-Level Rangefinder: Vortex Impact 850 — Full Review
Updated: August 3, 2024As Vortex’s entry level rangefinder, the Impact 850 outperforms its price point. As someone who does a variety of hunting, I look for diversity in my gear. I want equipment that’s going to function whether it’s spring or fall, archery season or gun season, and good conditions or poor. When it comes to a rangefinder, I’ll be looking for optics that can function for bowhunting deer, shotgun hunting turkey, and rifle hunting elk.
Get All The Bag You’ll Ever Need: Voodoo Tactical’s 3-Gun Weapons Case
Updated: February 14, 2018One major problem that has plagued multi-gun shooters since the advent of the sport is how do you carry all your stuff? Some people modify baby strollers or golf bags, which kinda works. Except you look like a nerd.
New Burris Tri Modular Prism Riflescope — SHOT Show 2018
Updated: February 14, 2018Burris has taken a step away from the big ticket items this year, reaching back into the prism realm. New for this year, the Tri-Modular Prism riflescope, or TMPR. Available in 3x or 5x, these are the same size as the previous models, with a 40% gain in field of view. Illumination is now push button instead of dials, slimming the package. The reticle switches from red, green, or blue, and now features night vision settings to match the daylight ones.
