AR-15

Last year I was talking with master barrel maker Paul Craddock of Craddock Precision about Projekt 457. He mentioned a new barrel and gas system he had created specifically for SBR length-suppressed AR-15s. It sounded perfect for the Civilian Defensive Rifle and I was intrigued.

Midwest Industries has been around for a while and they have been consistently offering reliable products at a competitive price. Their 10.5” combat rail has just been another continuation of that legacy, and I have had a great experience with mine being installed on my primary AR over for over 2 and a half years.

The goal of this rifle build for me was to build an ultra-light semi-auto long-range rifle that was capable of multiple precision shots out to 1000 yards and weighed less than 7 lbs

If you are piecing together an AR15 upper you have most likely wondered what bolt carrier group or BCG you should go with. These days many manufactures are spitting out BCG’s each with its own set of pros and cons. Listing all of your required features will help narrow down the search to a handful of different BCGs. When I pieced out and built my 11.5” AR15, my requirements were that the BCG had to be affordable, full-auto rated, and TiN-coated was preferred. Enter the Brownells M16 Bolt Carrier Group with the Titanium Nitride coating.

Midwest Industries recently announced their Night Fighter M-Lok rail which is geared toward Night Vision shooters. This rail is designed to be more rigid to reduce lasers’ point-of-impact shifts. By bulking up and keeping more 6061 aluminum in this rail compared to some of their previous options, the Night Fighter looks promising. Having a history of providing great products at affordable prices, I was immediately very interested in this new option.

When I heard that Crimson Trace had come out with a new line of red dot sights, their Rapid Aiming Dots (RAD), it made complete sense to me. After all, Crimson Trace has been in the firearm laser and light business for decades, and in more recent years has introduced their scope lines, so adding electronics into optics to get new electronic sights seems to be the natural progression.
