Probably the most enlightening conversation I had at SHOT Show 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada, was with Barry Covert, an attorney who specializes in Constitutional law, including the First and Second Amendments.

We got a chance to speak with IraqVeteran8888 at SHOT Show 2015. What a genuine dude! We talked about open carry and the constitutionality of NFA items.

Until recently, when I thought of an air rifle I usually pictured something akin to a BB gun and the little silver CO2 cylinders. I know there has been a history of bigger bore and more powerful air rifles. Lewis and Clark had one with them for example. But modern air rifles are pushing the envelop and the chronograph on what can be accomplished with compressed air and AirForce is leading the way.

The Troy PAR, or Sporting Rifle, is an odd gun. The pump action, AR inspired rifle has some exquisite engineering, and lives up to Troy’s reputation for quality and accuracy. And now they’re releasing the gun in other calibers. And if that isn’t up your alley, the little PDW just might be.

TrackingPoint makes rifles that don’t miss. It is a tremendous concept. Tag your target and pull the trigger. When everything lines up again, the gun will go bang, and whatever is down range is going down. How far do you want to shoot? And how much do you want to spend? TrackingPoint can handle both.

Ploymer80 makes 80% lower kits. Now they’re making them in .308, too. How easy is it to put one of these together? We’ll find out. By the time you read these words, they should be getting ready to ship. Who wouldn’t want to cut their own AR-10 style lower?

If you’re considering purchasing an AR-15, odds are you’ve looked into Daniel Defense. If you haven’t, you should. Their guns are a cut above. Their dedication to producing their own pieces and parts places them in a separate class of manufacturers, and allows them much tighter control of quality. and it shows. They’ve just released a new competition rifle that’s bad-ass, and they have bigger things coming this spring.

Stag Arms is known for their no-nonsense black rifles. These are hard working guns that privilege performance over fashion. Now they’re out into 9mm. But Stag isn’t content to offer yet-another-pistol-caliber-AR-pistol. They’re making full-sized carbine, and stretching out the performance of the 9mm.

Lasers on guns are growing increasingly popular. I’m seeing Crimson Trace grips on many of the guns coming in for review. And as I get used to them, I’m starting to see their appeal. And now Crimson Trace is going green. They’re expanding their line up, and the available colors.

Rhino Arms brought a shotgun prototype to the show last year, and it got our attention. When we got to SHOT this year, I went looking for an update. We’ve got the update on the shotgun, and more. Much much more. If you don’t yet know the Rhino name, get ready. These guns look good.

Bushnell has taken long-range shooting solutions to a whole new level with their new Elite 1-Mile ARC CONX rangefinder. With a simple technological advantage, a single shooter can now read a variety of conditions and effortlessly crunch the data for an efficient assessment of hold-over.

Ergo Grips makes everything you need to deck out your tactical rifle or shotgun. And now they’re making big changes to the way we grip wheel guns. While some of their new ideas are simply logical, these new revolver grips seem completely revolutionary, and they work, too.

At SHOT Show 2015, we talked with the host of UrRepublic Autry Pruitt, a progressive libertarian and pro-gunner.

ATI continues to make aftermarket upgrades that allow for serious overhauls at reasonable prices. The furniture has a distinctive look and fixes some of the more basic issues that others take for granted. Check out what they’re doing with a basic six position stock.

We stopped by the Kimber booth at this years SHOT Show to see what new products they had for 2015. Some of the stand outs to us are the Adirondack rifle in .300 Blackout, Solo Sapphire, Micro Raptor and the Onyx Ultra. Still, it is hard to pick one favorite in the Kimber booth.

If you have any interest in perfecting your IWI Tavor, you should check out Geissele’s new Tavor trigger. Does it get any better? For the rest of us, ALG has two new AK triggers. These clean up the biggest issue with the Kalashnikov. And they’re incredibly well priced.

Some pistol caliber carbines seem like someone simply converted a 5.56 AR to 9mm, and forced everything to work. The UDP-9 from Angstadt Arms is an obvious exception. This pistol maintains AR familiarity, but doesn’t take the 9mm for granted. Is this the best in its class?

The Leupold D-EVO is harder to describe than it is to understand. It is an optic that allows you to see magnified targets. It also allows you to see targets at close range, unmagnified. At the same time. It is kind of like a badass bifocal, and it is going to change the way we think about optics.

As our legislators actively work to limit what we can’t responsibly own, we at GunsAmerica are often left holding up the rational end of the conversation. And the latest nonsense concerns body armor. If you don’t own any body armor, now is a good time to buy. We stopped in at the AR500 booth at the SHOT Show and got the skinny on their latest vests and plates.

The AR-15 is hardly a heavyweight rifle. Still, the speed of the .223 allows it to punch above its weight. Still, if you carry one all day, day in and day out, you may complain about the rifle’s weight. And now Battle Arms Development has designed a new rifle that weighs in under 4 pounds. We at GunsAmerica are devoted to the 300 Blackout. There’s nothing that makes us happier than seeing its popularity grow. And Sig Sauer is doing their part, too. Their new MCX line comes in a number of calibers, and is a great option for those looking for modularity.

Is 2015 the year of the big-bore semi-autos? Probably not, though there were a couple of notable additions in 10mm. Sig’s new P220 in 10mm is a beast. It is loud, but manageable, and offers a hard hitting round to hunters or anyone else looking for stronger terminal ballistics.

We’ve looked at several things from A*B arms–all related to changing the way people think about the ergonomics of the AR-15. And now they’re expanding this concept to bolt rifles. Check out this new chassis. That old Remington 700 needed an overhaul.
