From Miculek’s youtube channel: “Jerry tests the classic western myth (As seen in movies such as ‘The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly, ‘Back to the Future Part III’, and much more) that you can cut a rope and save the day with just your gun, a bullet, and some superhuman aim; Using period correct rope and ammo, and taking it to the extreme with a .50 cal sniper rifle. The results might actually surprise you!”

One thing I noticed when he shot the 45-70 was that he cut the 1 strand that was still intact which made it look like he cut the rope. Id say he needs to do it again with a fresh piece of rope to be 100% sure. Was impressive shooting nonetheless.

Holy Toledo, you proved me wrong! I was sure that was really impossible. I’m sure it was a lot less “probable from 50 yds back and sitting on a moving object, but at least I now know it wouldn’t require magic to do the job… only a superhuman eye and unbelievable stability.

Impressive shot, by the way – even at 10 ft. That’s a thin line to penetrate.

There are two kinds of people in this world, my friend. Those with a rope around their neck, and those who have the job of doing the cutting… Tuco (aka “The Ugly”)

I love a good Western flick, especially Sergio Leone’s “Spaghetti Westerns” starring Clint Eastwood. I really enjoyed this segment, it’s sort of like “Mythbusters” only with guns…
