The CAM Loader plunges ten rounds at a time into your magazine, and it does it well.

It’s likely that if you enjoy shooting, the only thing you don’t enjoy about it is loading magazines.

Elite Tactical Systems was showing off their Gen II CAM Loader at the range during SHOT Show 2022. It’s remarkably simple to use and it loads ten rounds into a magazine all at once. Other mag loaders often make it much easier, but still require loading one round at a time.

It’s also remarkable that the CAM Loader is universal and works with almost all the magazines on the market.

Start by seating the magazine in the loader.

ETS CAM Loader

The CAM Loader is made from low-friction polymer. It’s lightweight and there’s a model for rifles and a model each for 9mm/.40cal, .380, and .45. Each model works with nearly all magazines of that caliber, which is surprising.

You just load the magazine, and they emphasized that although you need to seat it all the way in, you also shouldn’t slam it home like you were loading the magazine into a gun because you may damage the internal guides. So take care, but seat it all the way in.

Scoop ammo from a tray.

Next, you scoop up ammo out of a box, then turn it over, and slide the plunger down. Suddenly you’ve got up to ten rounds loaded. You can then scoop up more and plunge them into the same magazine to top it off. Check out this video from their website that demonstrates it all.

The loader for rifle mags works similarly and here are some of the models it’s compatible with:

  • AR15
  • AR10
  • AK47
  • AK74
  • FN SCAR-16/17
  • G36
  • Steyr Aug
  • MP5
  • Scorpion EVO
  • Colt SMG
  • UZI
  • And more

Turn it right side up and plunge.

For the handguns, it’s easier to list the models it doesn’t work with. The list is very sort:

  • STI 2011 mags
  • Taurus PT709 mags
  • Walther CCP mags
  • SIG P938 (and probably Colt Mustangs and Kimber and Springfield clones of the same)

Et voila! Your mag now has up to ten rounds in it.

These loaders should fit into your range bag with ease, and take up less room than a spatula in a drawer at home. They have a lifetime warranty, and for just $29.99, they won’t take a lot out of your wallet, either.

Elite Tactical System’s Gen II CAM Loaders are available now for $29.99.

I got one a couple years ago and it works sometimes. You have to carry a can of WD-40 or Rem-Oil with it to get it to work. They didn’t say if the Gen.2 fixed the issues or not.

Interesting item on the surface. But…….. it is not a tool I’m going to be using in a gun fight. This is a bench/range tool where time is generally not an issue. And this design requires me to own at least 3 of them to cover all the pistols I own.

On the other hand I can use ONE UpLula pistol loader that will load single and double stack mags in 380ACP, 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP, and IIRC 10mm as well. And even though it loads one round at a time , it it still very fast. It also allows me to load alternating rounds should I desire to do so. ie 1 FMJ, 1 HP etc.

Not trying to stink on your parade ETS, as innovation is always desired. I can see where this may fit for some people, I’m just not seeing me swapping out my UpLula for this item.

i have one. I still bring it to the range particularly at events in New Jersey where I can’t bring preloaded magazines into the state. I have had it work sometimes. Nice when that happens. If around takes a little bit of a twist and hangs up and you can’t push it through you end up dumping them all out. If someone was to challenge me to race to load 10 magazines it would be unlikely that I would reach for this device. If someone did see me loading one string after the other and was impressed I would take the opportunity to sell it to them– but not if it was someone I would see regularly again at the ridge. YMMV
