Overview

Burris has come to market now with some serious scopes in their lineup, notably the extreme tactical rifle scope or the XTR II.

Available in a variety of magnification options, including 5-25 and 8-40, they have the set up to cover any application. Available in this scope is the SCR reticle, purpose-built for speed in competitive ventures. Most of the reticle is in ½ mil increments for holdovers, but the crosshair line also features .1 and .2 mil subtensions for real precision work.

Impression

Burris makes great riflescopes.  That’s not news to anyone.  What I’m really excited about is that the XTR II is now available in flat dark earth.  The color change is a welcome addition. If you are hunting or in the tactical business, a scope all in black is a pretty big object that sticks out. Painting one is always nerve racking, no matter how well you taped it off. At least with a rifle, if you screw up, you can scrape the paint out of the trigger group.

Taking a scope apart is beyond most users, including me. This wasn’t fun even when I worked for Uncle Sugar, who would buy me a new one if it broke. Burris has done a solid by taking this out of our hands, and sending the scope in a color that already blends in most places.

Also available this year, Burris is making its own scope level. Don’t leave home without it.
