The SPC has very familiar controls, and mounting options for needed accessories

B&T typically builds firearms to meet the requests and requirements of law enforcement and military units. The new SPC 9mm was born from one of those requests, though they didn’t tell us specifically who made the order.

The SPC has ambidextrous AR-style controls along with a non-reciprocating forward charging handle similar to that found on an HK MP5.

Ambi controls support left-handed shooters or support-side shooting.

The SPC is manufactured in five different upper receiver configurations, 9-inch or 4.5-inch inch barrel versions with 3 lug suppressor adapters, a nine-inch integrally suppressed version, a 16-inch barrel version, and a 4.5-inch integrally suppressed version.

The SPC is blowback operated and utilizes a hydraulic buffer system to mitigate recoil. Very little muzzle rise or recoil was noticed while firing the SPC at the range. The SPC is a very controllable pistol caliber carbine.

The SPC 9mm comes in one of three lower receiver configurations designed to take different magazines. Lowers can be ordered to take B&T magazines, Glock magazines or SIG 320 type magazines.

One of the most interesting points of the SPC and its associated suppressor is B&T’s new quick detach mounting system. The suppressor presses straight back onto the three-lug barrel and simply snaps on! Make sure you watch the video!

To remove the suppressor simply depress the large button at the rear of the mount and pull the suppressor straight off the barrel. This is the simplest quick-detach mounting system I’ve seen. It also seemed to seal the contained gases very well as no blowback was felt while shooting. And there was no build-up at the mounting point.

The full-sized RBS9 SQD suppressor worked very well; reducing noise as well as making the SPC more controllable. B&T is the largest suppressor manufacturer in the world and is launching a whole new line of suppressors here in the United States.

B&T will be offering a variety of suppressors with various mounting systems. Direct thread, the three prong quick-detach as highlighted above as well as quick-detach for other barrel adapters.

The SPC should be available starting mid-2022. Pricing hasn’t been firmly established, but MSRP is expected to be around $2,000.

MSRP of the RBS9 SQD suppressor is expected to be very reasonable at approximately $650.
