The Seattle Police Department has shared bodycam video from an officer-involved shooting that happened on April 17 in Tukwila. The incident, which took place during a sting operation, resulted in a suspect’s death and left an officer with a minor injury.

Around 3:14 p.m., during an operation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce at a Southcenter Parkway hotel, police tried to arrest a 67-year-old man suspected of preying on children. Believing he was meeting two young girls, ages 7 and 11, he was confronted by officers inside a hotel room.

The situation escalated when the suspect pulled out a gun as officers attempted to arrest him. A struggle over the weapon ensued, and it discharged. Police responded by firing at the suspect, who was later pronounced dead.

An officer involved in the incident sustained a graze wound but did not require hospitalization. The Crime Scene Investigation Unit has been processing the scene for evidence, while the Tukwila Police Department investigates the assault on the officers.

The Seattle Police Department’s Force Investigation Team is also reviewing the shooting, continuing their commitment to thorough investigations. This marks the department’s first officer-involved shooting in eight months and the first fatal one in nearly two years.

Officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave, a standard practice during such investigations.

As the leading agency of the Washington Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, the Seattle Police Department emphasizes its ongoing efforts to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation. Reports of child enticement have significantly increased, highlighting the rising challenges in this area.

The police department promises more updates as the investigation progresses and encourages anyone with additional information to contact the Force Investigation Team.

This incident underscores the unpredictable nature of operations targeting online child exploitation, demonstrating both the risks officers face and the critical need for stringent investigative procedures.

During the autopsy, they found out he weighed a pound less, after they pulled all the slugs from his carcass.

… and there it is. That’s perfect justification for the police and law-abiding citizens to have standard capacity magazines. Sometimes overkill isn’t just underrated it’s HIGHLY DESIRABLE! Great job guys, one down and lots to go.

We need to have the Supreme Court review the decision in the 1970’s that ruled capital punishment cruel and unusual for rape. When they are clearly guilty child rapist and ordinary rapist should swing from the gallows. The victims would still suffer but at least they would know he wasn’t going to hurt them again. And in countries where capital punishment is swift and common crime rates are extremely low. Tip of the hat to Saudi Arabia there. Semper Fi and Can Do

Why would a pedophile show up to a meeting with a 7 and 11 year old? This was a planned abduction in my opinion, one way or another the planet needs to be cleared of these predators…

I wonder what goes into the thought process behind these various sting operations. Maybe a 1st floor room would have been a better choice for this operation?.

Why are so many federal cases involving only potential firearm violations ending up house raids? Why are people like Roger Stone raided at 3AM where he was dragged out of his house? Why was someone like Shawn “Puffy” Combs house raided raided during the day light hours when this potential sex trafficker was out of town? Maybe the directors of federal agencies should be held accountable for choosing to conduct house raids.

      Good question. More DemRAT corruption.

    • Allen Williamson April 27, 2024, 11:55 am

Most of these things are dictated by the suspect. If he says to meet at such and such room at this hotel, the cop playing bad guy on the phone can’t question or push too hard without making someone who is most likely very nervous back out. He obviously was wary because he brought a gun to his blind date. Floor doesn’t matter.mplus hemhas a long way to go to escape the area. You can trap him on an upper floor petty easy.

To your second point that is a head scratcher. I guess when your boss is the one trafficking kids from the border you don’t want your employees ruining business.

the headline seems a bit harsh for the situation! I would have worded it as “police perform post natal abortion on pedophile”!
I do love these feel good stories!!!
