Texas police fatally shot a man at an Applebees restaurant after the suspect pulled a gun.
If you watch the video, you’ll see a textbook use of a green-laser.
Police responded to a call about some stolen beer at an East Texas Walmart. They followed James Bushey, 47, to an Applebee’s bathroom and the body cam footage captures the ensuing violent encounter.
Sgt. Gabriel Green and Officer Kaylyn Griffin initiated contact with Bushey, asking him to step outside to be questioned. Bushey complied, but once out of the restaurant the suspect drew what was later determined to be a pellet gun.
The officers acted swiftly and both opened fire on Bushey, fatally shooting him.
Palestine Police Captain James Muniz issued a statement regarding the shooting, calling the event “unfortunate.”
“It’s very unfortunate that the police officers were put in this position,” said Muniz. “They felt that they had no choice but to defend themselves at that time.”
The shooting was determined to be a “good shoot” and both officers were cleared by a grand jury.

My only question is why the police saw no need to frisk this person and handcuff him before proceeding outside?
Yes I know it’s easy to sit and play arm chair quarter back but anymore anyone should be considered a threat and cuffed before anything else takes place.
You can’t fix stupid, on the victim’s part, but you can protect him from harming himself or others.
You can offer an apology for excessive police action were he found not to be a threat but you can’t call a bullet back.
The shooting and of itself was good but I question police procedure prior to the shooting.
If they had attempted to ” frisk this person and handcuff him” inside the establishment, then the ensuing result would have possibly been one of the officers accidentally shooting the other, and possible having one of the patrons catch a spray round. With the open area, the officer was able to push the suspect away from them, knocking the suspect off balance, giving them time to arm themselves in response to the threat. The pellet gun sounds not life threatening, a hit in certain areas of the neck can cause serious wounds, and can end a career with a shot to the eyes.
I feel sorry for the cops who have to carry the memory of this stupid person.
My question is with video evidence like they had, body cameras running, why did there have to even be a grand jury?

It looks like an obvious suicide by cop. The guy knew that he would be immediately shot and by using a pellet gun he obviously knew he had no chance to hurt anybody at all. Peace to his soul, please don’t be harsh with him, a suicide is always a sad thing.
