At SHOT Show, we got a chance to catch up to our friends over at Blac-Rac. You might have seen a video last year of me attempting to defeat the system they designed for law enforcement. I failed, miserably. I was, however, able to compromise their competitor’s system.

Impression
The Blac-Rac is multiweapon compatible, easy to use, and quick to deploy. With 30,000 units serving law enforcement and military customers around the country, they’ve certainly established themselves as a go-to source for weapon retention systems.
The good news from SHOT is that Blac-Rac now has their sights set on expanding into the civilian market. They are building models not only for cars and trucks but also for UTV and Four Wheeler applications. This is great! You’ll be able to safely travel with your firearms without fear of theft.
If you carry a truck gun, which I encourage, this is an option you need to see. The model 1070 retails for $399. For more information or questions about pricing, visit Blac-Rac.com.
Can they hold the rifle with the mag in?
J.B. – Yes – all our products allow you to leave the magazine in your weapon.
30 round AK mag ? ? ? ? ?
HI Brad. Not sure you spoke to here at Blac-Rac , but you can buy the 1070 model direct from us. I have one of these in my truck. This model is now available to the general public for $399 plus whatever mount you need. Feel free to contact me and I be happy to assist you.
I called in just now and they do provide product to consumers. Limited to the model 1070
those are neat for sure but when I called to buy one, I was told they only sell to LEO’s and departments. I’d really like one for my truck.
( respectfully ) You put that in Your truck with the rifle sticking up vertically were it can be even partially seen then you better be living out on a private ranch in tiny town USA were You know everyone by name. If You drive into even a mid sized city Your truck window will be smashed and vandalized in attempt to get a hold of Your rifle or Your truck will be stolen because of the wonderful bonus rife that comes with it …..just saying
No requirement that they be mounted vertically… Pictures on their website show lots of other options…
‘Bonus Rifle’ LMFAO
Very good point, Steve. Anywhere in vehicle where visible would be an invitation for a broken window. Failing that, your vehicle is gone. My use would be trunk placement but am concerned about integrity of mounting. That small base (without buying trac) would surely need a backing plate to stop Zeek. I need estimated height for scoped rifle, clearance for trunk lid. I’d like to know if anyone learned about Veteran consideration. Sounds like a call is in order.
