House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former Vice President Joe Biden renewed the call for tougher gun laws last Friday on the 4th anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub attack in Orlando, Florida.
Specifically, Pelosi and Biden want the Senate to vote on two bills the House passed in 2019, H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, and H.R. 1112, the Enhanced Background Checks Act.
“The men and women murdered at Pulse were there to enjoy an evening of music, dancing and celebration in a place of safety and solidarity; they had the right to live free from the fear of gun violence and hate,” said Pelosi in a statement.
“Leader McConnell must listen to the will of the American people, end his partisan obstruction and finally bring H.R. 8 and H.R. 1112 up for a vote,” she continued. “As we take time to remember those we’ve lost, we must never back away from our mission to safeguard our communities and end the horrors of gun violence once and for all.”
H.R. 8 is a “universal background check” bill that would effectively criminalize private transfers and H.R. 1112 would extend the review period for background checks from three to 10 business days. Both would positively chill the 2A rights of law-abiding gun owners while doing very little, if anything at all, to prevent criminals from getting guns.
Interestingly, as Dr. John Lott explained in a 2019 op-ed published by FoxNews, the proposed legislation would be bad for all responsible Americans, but especially bad for people of color as it would make it more difficult for them to obtain a firearm for self-defense.

Of the more than 3 million annual background check denials, the vast majority are mistakes or false positives. In other words, millions of good people attempting to purchase a firearm are denied not because they are a prohibited person but because they share a name and/or a birthdate with someone who is a felon, domestic abuser, mental defective, minor, etc.
Because many minorities live in urban centers with higher rates of crime, they are at greater risk of becoming a victim when they are mistakenly denied by the current system. No gun means no way to defend oneself from armed criminals.
As Lott notes, NICS could be fixed by the use of basic identifying information but instead of trying to actually improve the system, “Democrats reveal that they want to make it more difficult, unfair, and inconvenient for law-abiding people – particularly minorities – to buy a gun.”
Yet, perversely, Biden claims that H.R. 8 & H.R. 1112 would actually make those most vulnerable in our society safer.
“Sadly, all these years later, terrorism, mass shootings, and hate crimes continue to rip apart our American communities,” said Biden in a separate statement. “Our places of worship have been attacked, Hispanics have been targeted in places like El Paso, the death toll from mass shootings continues to mount, and LGBTQ+ people, particularly transgender women of color, are disproportionately targeted by violence.
“The inaction of Republican lawmakers to address the scourge of gun violence in America is unacceptable, and Jill and I stand with the survivors of mass shootings and all the family members of victims to support the #HonorThemWithAction campaign,” Biden continued.
Pelosi and Biden, and the Democratic Party in general, rightly acknowledge that minority communities are “disproportionately targeted by violence,” however instead of empowering these people to defend themselves via their Constitutional rights, they’re pushing policies that will ensure more minorities are unarmed and defenseless in their time of need.
It’s a pernicious game they’re playing, one that ultimately creates more victims who are not only victims of violent crime but also to the belief that gun control enacted by an ever-expanding Nanny State is the only way to stop hardened criminals.

Funny because nearly ALL of that “gun violence” occurs in the MOST Restrictive Gun Controlled cities, and States. Absolutely ZERO evidence that the 25 States that enacted Constitutional Carry,,,, Have ANY more gun violence than before. Actual Data, not Feelings!
My God given rights are much bigger and more important than either of them or anyone else and OUR Constitution and 2nd Amendment simply confirm that.

And we can only hope this gets enough voter attention to help out in November

My friends, all I can say is this- buy as many guns, ammo, magazines, and accessories as you can afford to buy right now, right up to the election. There is a very real possibility Trump will lose the election. Then, Biden will finally be able to implement all of the anti-gun measures he’s been crowing about for years. We would be looking at some of the most extreme bans on firearms in the history of this country.
Only fools would voluntarily & meekly surrender to such anti-American totalitarians. Just ask the Australians about their huge mistake.

Any of us who have taken a CCW class know that even in the case of self defense, you had better be damn sure you have a justified shooting. Yet thousands of lives are lost at the hands of criminals. Ok, so let’s ban guns, starting with the really scary ones like “ARs” because they just look mean. Next is handguns well because they are in movies and kids think it’s cool when you hold them sideways and say things like, “imma bust a cap…” There problem solved. Now that these scary and/or Hollywood glamorized guns are illegal, nobody will ever get illegally shot again. Ever. It’s also illegal to break the speed limit, or drink and drive. Yet EVERYONE speeds at some point or another, and I mean everyone. Millions of Americans still get behind the wheel after having too much to drink. Sometimes they get away with it, sometimes not. Sometimes someone is killed. So let’s make ALL vehicles go no faster than the published speed limit and equip them all with a BAC ignition lock. And those cars that look really fast? They gotta go. Who needs a car that goes 180 mph anyway? Plus, all the Hollywood car chase scenes are giving all the kids the wrong idea so we should probably ban those too. Don’t even get me started on video games… Alcohol and tobacco kills more Americans per year than guns and cars combined so we already know what to do there. Heart disease and cancer are by far the leading causes of death in the US, so really anything that causes that? All illegal, we need to jump on these movements, honor those that have died by taking action people. Now that I’ve solved all the countries problems, we will all live and love happily ever after.

The unrelenting barrage is intended to numb the public and make it difficult to detect their erosive actions. Witness all the social engineering pork they stuffed into the Covid-19 relief bill, thinking no one would actually catch it buried amongst the 1,000+ pages of text.
