For SHOT Show 2023, Beretta released a brand new tactical shotgun targeting the home defense and law enforcement markets. The A300 Ultima Patrol is a small package of firepower that is outfitted with features that exceed most tactical shotguns.
The Ultima Patrol is an American-made Beretta based on the proven A300 action with the gas system optimized for performance with Federal Flight Control shells.
The A300 action is made at Beretta’s Tennessee plant and has a similar gas system to the Beretta Italian-made A400 guns, but features a different bolt design making the A300 less expensive.
In range testing, it functioned flawlessly with buckshot, slugs, and birdshot.
It has a handy overall length of 38 inches, due to its 19.1-inch barrel and 13-inch length-of-pull stock. The stock is short to promote fast handling and interference-free use even while wearing body armor. It proved comfortable to shoot in plain clothes as well
The full-length extended magazine tube holds 7 rounds, providing an 8-round total capacity.
The Ultima Patrol also comes with Velcro on the side of the receiver and a side saddle shell holder for additional rounds. The barrel clamp securing the magazine tube features QD-sling mounting points.
Specs
- MSRP: $ 1099.00
- Barrel Length: 19.1″
- Choke: MC
- Gauge: 12
- Total Length: 38″
- Weight: 7.1 LBS
The receiver on the Patrol has an oversized bolt handle and bolt release for rapid positive operation. The loading port on the bottom of the receiver has been enlarged and sculpted much like the custom guns used in 3-Gun competition to allow faster easier reloading.
The Patrol is topped off with a ghost ring rear sight and a protected fiber optic front sight. In addition, there is a section of Picatinny rail on the receiver for mounting a red dot sight if desired.
The handguard of the Patrol is slim and covered with aggressive checkering to provide a secure grip. I believe the checkering on this gun is the most aggressive I’ve ever handled and I liked it. There was no chance of the gun slipping out of my hands while shooting.

The forward part of the handguard also has three M-Lok mounting points for mounting accessories such as lights or lasers.
Initial impressions of the A300 Ultima Patrol at the Beretta Range Day were that it offered a lot of shotgun for the money, and leaves little else to be desired. It comes with all the features to allow rapid, accurate shooting and smooth easy reloading. Check it out on the Beretta website or at your local dealer.

Will be interesting to see comparisons to the 1301LE model.
That’s exactly what I’m waiting to see. No one seems to clearly define the exact differences in the bolt between the A300, A400, and 1301. “has a similar gas system to the Beretta Italian-made A400 guns, but features a different bolt design making the A300 less expensive”
