Law Enforcement was one of the obvious target audiences for this gun, and it shows. The 1301 Tactical features a slightly shorter receiver than the 1301 Competition, part of an overall size reduction. The stock is also slightly shorter, offering a 37.8 inch length of pull out of the box.

Published: August 9, 2018 { 68 comments }Fortunately, dear readers, I have watched a city burn. A couple actually, at least one of which I had nothing to do with starting. Having spent a good portion of my life engaged in urban combat in faraway locales, I have some tips and tricks to share.
Ruger Suppressed 10/22 – Quiet as Death Himself
Published: August 2, 2018 { 56 comments }Today was the first time I got to test the new Ruger 10/22 with the Silent-SR ISB, or Integrally Suppressed Barrel. The lines look like a double barrel gun, but the bottom half is actually a baffle stack. A one-piece barrel and suppressor, it fits any 10/22 takedown model as a replacement. It is one of the most well thought out rimfire suppressors I have seen, Ruger hit it out of the park this time.
Camp Chef Smoke Pro SGX – Review
Published: July 28, 2018 { 9 comments }Besides addressing my grill needs, I can rest assured that Camp Chef is on our team. Their parent company is Vista Outdoors, which is also home to Savage Rifles and Federal Ammunition, amongst others. After the REI debacle with Vista a few months ago, and Vista’s praiseworthy refusal to fold, I am a fan of the company in general. And as the battle lines are drawn in the economic sphere, I am definitely not siding with the smelly hippies and assorted SWJ chuckleheads. I’ll get my outdoor gear from Cabela’s and Brownells from now on.
Leupold Mark 5HD Review with Tracking Test
Published: July 18, 2018 { 15 comments }As optics companies strive for ever better and cheaper scopes, a clear winner has emerged. The consumer. We live in the golden age of optics and weapons, as evidenced by this weeks test of the Leupold Mark 5. At a combined cost of under $4000 for optics and rifle, using .60 cent per round ammo, I was able to test a sub half MOA weapons system. Even 15 years ago, you would be lucky to match that at any price outside of a benchrest rig.

Glock 19X Accessorized

First rattle out of the box, the sights that come as the only option on the 19X are weak sauce.
Altama Maritime Assault Boot: A Winner in Ninja-Grade Footwear
Published: July 11, 2018 { 21 comments }I have plenty of experience with Altama, they made the best jungle boots around during my military career. As a retiree though, I wouldn’t be caught dead in a set. So it was rather surprising to find something as sexy looking as the Maritime Assault Boot in their catalog.
