The gun industry is filled with good people. One such person is ArmaLite president Tommy Thacker. Tommy is currently raising money for the Leukexmia & Lymphoma Society and we thought we’d help him out by syndicating his letter to friends and family to see if the GunsAmerica readership would also like to get involved with this worthy cause.
So below is Tommy’s letter. To learn more about LLS or to check out Tommy’s page, click here.
Dear Friends & Family,
Thank you for visiting my page! I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to help the more than one million Americans who are living with blood cancers. Each year The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), National Capital Area Chapter launches its Man & Woman of the Year fundraising campaign. This year I was asked to join my friend Peter Webb’s campaign team. During this campaign from April 2 to June 13, our team will be fundraising directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
With your support of a tax-deductible donation, LLS can continue funding critical research in the fight against blood cancers as well as provide outstanding patient services. All donations are appreciated and must be received by JUNE 12th. Anyone who donates for my campaign will be put in the drawing to win a new Armalite Versatile Sporting Rifle (information below). For donations under $20, you will receive 1 ticket per $5 donated. Donations made for $20 and over will receive 5 tickets per $20 donated.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your generous support of LLS’s mission. LLS is the leading non-profit organization committed to finding a cure for blood cancers. For additional information, please go to www.mwoy.org/nca.
Sincerely,
Tommy Thacker

I’m probably alone on this, but I think they should bring back a modernized version of the AR-180B. Even if they didn’t make it out of aluminum, it’d be cool to have one with a side-folding stock (maybe a telescoping one like the SCAR), grips compatible with AK grips, muzzle threads, multiple barrel lengths, dust cover, heat shields in the grips, accessory slots, and maybe a Picatinny rail on the receiver. They could call it…wait for it…the AR-180C!
Very nice gun.
