Second Amendment Foundation: Scalise Shooting Result of Democratic Hate Speech

Alan Gottlieb, the Founder and Executive Vice President of the SAF.

Alan Gottlieb, the Founder and Executive Vice President of the Second Amendment Foundation, said that the Wednesday shooting of Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) at a baseball field is a result of Democratic hate speech toward the Trump Administration and GOP members.

“This hate speech that has been going on since Donald Trump was elected,” said Gottlieb in a press release obtained by GunsAmerica. “It gets their voter base agitated and this is what happens as a result. Is this just a coincidence this happened on the president’s birthday?”

The man responsible for the shooting has been identified as James Hodgkinson.  The 66-year-old Illinois resident was a volunteer for Bernie Sanders 2016 presidential campaign.  On his Facebook page, Hodgkinson published a series of troubling remarks since the election of President Trump.

“Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy,” he wrote on March 22. “It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.”

Earlier this week, Hodgkinson called for the impeachment of President Trump.

“Trump is Guilty & Should Go to Prison for Treason,” Hodgkinson wrote.

“When liberal leftists support the assassination of President Trump on stage what do you expect to happen,” Gottlieb stated. “Hate speech and actions incite this kind of violence. It is time for Democrats like Reps. Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton and many of the talking heads at CNN and MSNBC to shut up.”

Hodgkinson was killed during the attack by two Capitol police officers who were at the congressional baseball practice guarding Scalise, the House majority whip.  At least five people, including Scalise and the two patrolmen, were injured during the shooting.

“Congressman Scalise and others at the field this morning were lucky to have the protection of courageous Capitol police officers, the good guys with guns who took down a bad guy with a gun,” said Gottlieb. “But what if they hadn’t been present?”

Gottlieb said that this incident should be a wake-up call for those who oppose concealed carry.

“Maybe now the anti-gun rights Democrats will support everyone’s right to carry a firearm for self-defense,” Gottlieb said. “We are the first line of defense when it comes to personal protection from crazed individuals.”

“I can only concur with what President Trump said this morning,” concluded Gotlieb. “We are blessed to be Americans, and we are strongest when we are unified and when we work together. Those responsible for this campaign of hate have no place in our society. You own this.”

Oh, please. How many articles did I read during the election about right wing groups gearing up for the coming revolution if Hillary won? In fact, taking up arms against the government is the wet dream of the NRA. So you spout armed revolution for years on end and guess what? There are nuts on both sides of the aisle that will heed the call. There was plenty of hate speech from the conservative side when Obama was president. If you want everybody to play nice stop the toxic talk no matter who is the president.

    • KurtW June 18, 2017, 9:25 am

As a non-Dhim/Com, I missed these calls to violence. Could you please provide some verifiable examples for the rest of the class? I’ve provided a handful, further own in the Comments section, of verifiable quotes from political leaders and “respected Dhimitude icons”, but your loooong list should be easier, right?
btw – Being prepared for Leftist violence is not acting-out, as Leftists ACTUALLY DID repeatedly (thus the common sense in being prepared to protect oneself from such behavior)

      • Stevie June 18, 2017, 11:57 pm

Before I spend my time preparing a list of quotes for you, I’ll wait for you to actually verify your “verifiable” quotes. Info such as date, time, and location the quotes were made, and the context would be useful. Until then all I see is an example of creative writing known as Fake News.

    • Justin June 18, 2017, 2:47 pm

So there were words and rhetoric that directly lead to a Repub deliberately trying to murder some Dems because they were Dems?
Both sides said some heated stuff but this hate filled liberal acted on it. Trying to obscure that fact by talking about things Repubs said is disingenuous.
This liberal actually did what liberals claim Repubs are planning.

      Huge difference here.

    • loupgarous June 18, 2017, 9:54 pm

The fact is, Bernie Sanders sat there with his thumb up his ass while his stormtroopers crashed Trump rallies and brought the violence. And, like the “Secretary” in Mission:Impossible, he disavowed any knowledge of Hopklinson’s mission.

Stephen Colbert, the other dimbulbs with late-night TV shows, and the so-called mainstream press dished red meat to the James Hopkinsons of the country. And the spin in their reporting is about how poor James Hopkinson was homeless and oh, so distraught. Any sympathy they have for Steve Scalise pales by comparison.

This is the way the liberals have been saying hate speech works for decades, and they very purposefully used it to inflame opinions against their political enemies. They have been telling anyone who’ll listen how they have the moral high ground.

Right, Stevie, make your idiotic crap up as you go along, anything to avoid the logical conclusion – the DNC and their concubines in the press decided to stir up unprecedented hatred, and if a few people had to die as a result – well, you can’t have a “fundamental transformation of society” with killing a few people, can you?

      • Stevie June 19, 2017, 5:15 pm

    Dear Sir,
Please be advised by a fellow law abiding citizen who happens to be a registered Democrat the this heinous act committed by a delusional US citizen DOES not represent you no more than he represents me. It is the continued negative speech, such as your article that is perpetuating the fundamental problems that we are presently experiencing in our Great country. Remember, our President was a Democrat, perhaps for business reasons when he was doing his building development in NYC. I implore you tone down YOUR negative speech and use the keyboard for constructive purposed. Not the demise of our great country.

Please take my words to heart and use careful consideration when writing about how one side is so bad. Remember, JFK was a democrat and he gave his life for the country.

    Respectfully,
    Stephen J. Johnson

What if there were two shooters or three or? The fact that there were two Capital Police Officers with hand guns to confront & take out the one shooter with an AR 15 was lucky but if two or more shooters had surrounded the field, those two out gunned LEOs would have been of little help & it would be up to the local police department to respond. We know how long that response time usually is & there could have been many GOP members dead, dying or at least wounded. It is past time for the members of Congress to have armed protection 24/7. It’s just part of today’s violent climate, at least until the rabid leftists are eliminated or at least beaten back with much gusto. I was elated to see that several members of the GOP Congress have come out & said that they will be taking responsibility for their own protection by carrying 24/7. Folks, the times, they are a changing & we must adapt to these changing times & not allow ourselves to become sitting targets for the loons on the left. Arm up, my friends & carry everywhere you go as this could very easily spill out into the common populace.

    • Newelld June 18, 2017, 1:57 pm

Start off with the Truth.. There was no AR-15 present!! Using this event to try to demonize an AR is an example of why meaningful discussion is imposible with dishonest people!!

  • super x June 16, 2017, 3:13 pm

I think that the politicians is totally to blame. Both sides has bashed each other and the news media has fuel the fire. We are so divided now that I hope we don’t go to war anytime soon. Trump has no idea what he is doing and I could not trust Clinton at all. We let people like those two run for a office that affect the whole world and neither one is fit to even say President. This with his twitting stir unstable people to do stupid things. The only way we won WW II was being united in every aspect both as a fight force and a manufacturing entity. People we had better get it together and quit paying attention to these people who does not have a clue what they are doing. I am firmly convince that it is about them and their crony’s

    • SGT-N June 18, 2017, 11:56 am

I was in the same boat as you were when neither candidate appealed to me. The only choice we really had was antigun versus progun, and the progun agenda that won has been subsumed by the ridiculous Russian witch-hunt.

  • DF June 16, 2017, 1:17 pm

So hate speech by Republicans which results in deaths at abortion clinics or the deaths of Sikh men is not responsible, but supposed hate speech by Democrats is? Right, gotcha. Whatever happened to personal responsibility Republicans are always talking about? Hate speech in any form is wrong; however, to suggest that only Democrats are responsible is idiotic. Just looking at the comments on this website makes it clear how far we have to go.

    • DaveGinOly June 16, 2017, 6:45 pm

The difference is that the hate speech on the left is coming from the leadership, a leadership that not only failed to quell, or even disavow, the street violence following Trump’s election, but actively encouraged it. Remember the Republican response to the right-wing riots following Obama’s elections? Oh, right, all the “conservative hate speech” didn’t produce riots following Obama’s elections. The conservative who acts violently isn’t prodded or encouraged by the Republican leadership to act violently. And when one does, conservative leadership condemns and disavows it. OTOH, the left is actively encouraging violence using terms like “Resistance” (invoking the armed resistance in occupied Europe, the reference being rendered inescapable because of the left’s identification of Trump as a “fascist”), Kathy Griffin’s “decapitated Trump” photo set and various other progressive artists openly talking about their own violent fantasies (e.g., Madonna, Jos Whedon, the “Julius Caesar” play), and, as mentioned above, the failure of the leadership to discourage violence when the violence is politically expedient for them. There is one other difference – the left is in hysterics over an election as the right has never been (see the non-existent riots mentioned above) – there are tens of thousands of leftists who have already demonstrated their propensity for violence by their participation in rioting. The baseball shooter was just the tip of the spear, a violent leftist willing to go further than those who make up the spear’s edge. The conservative who acts out violently is not backed up by a similar cadre of similar bent – he’s a one-off.

      • Robert June 16, 2017, 11:28 pm

Where were you when the same was being done by the Republicans when Obama was in office? Why put all of the blame on Democrats but when it is the opposite, the blame is placed on the individual? Whether you want to admit it or not, the very first comment to this article is exactly right.

        • loupgarous June 18, 2017, 10:58 pm

Where were the Republican riots in the streets after Obama’s election? The months of protest rallies in downtown areas of major cities? The protests of the attempted framing of George Zimmerman and Officer Dennis Wilson?

          Oh. There weren’t any.

      • Daniel June 17, 2017, 6:00 am

There have been 40 rioters out of 800,000 protesters.
        You’re purposely exaggerating.

And Trump encouraged violence during his campaign. Not a single democratic leader ebouraged violence. Not one. You can’t quote one, because there isn’t one to be quoted. You’re making that up.

Everything else in your comment is incredibly dense, and flat out wrong.

  • The Beast June 16, 2017, 10:57 am

Scalise had just come out pushing a bill against Human Trafficking and Child Sex Trafficking. The Deep State has a lot of problems with that, since many of it’s members are involved for decades, and certainly the major players behind the Democrat party and the Clitons (misspelling is on purpose.)

Anyone remember the Pedo-Gate and all the pedophile issues with Pizza Gate, Jimmy Comet, Podesta and the Hillary campaign, anyone remember the issues with the Clinton connection to the Epstein Sex Island visits, and on and on. This is sick folks.

This is the real reason Comey was fired. He failed to investigate how deep this sickening behavior goes into the ruling elite and the liberal controllers of the country. Some in the FBI were wanting Comey to bring all this crap to light, but he wouldn’t, because he was a player too.

All this hidden child sex trafficking is a blight against our country, our values, and our democracy. And also in the eyes of the Lord. Let us hope it can be finally eradicated from the entire political mainstream. But America has to come together to rid itself of this atrocity. Let us pray that America can survive such vile intrusion into its Democracy and Founding Core Values.

Madona made public comments about wanting to blow up the White House. A university professor using sovial media wrote the House republicians should be lined up and shot. Another professor in California advocated hanging the President. A comedian posted a picture of her holding the severed head of the President.
These are the messages being sent out by Democrats. Most ok f us find them disturbing, but anyone with diminished capacity for rational thought might easily take these comments as tactic approval for violent action.
Why is the Democratic leadership stayed quiet? Why haven’t former Presidents Obama and Clinton and former Secretary Clinton made statements condemning such attitude?
I dont believe this, but here’s one for all the conspiracy freaks, maybe they want another civil war.

    • chuck June 16, 2017, 2:26 pm

I think Madonna also mentioned the word blow when it came to voting for Hillary didn’t she ?

  • Patrick Duffy June 16, 2017, 10:30 am

As soon as I read “liberal leftists” you lose my attention. Left and right are the extreme and usually have similar aims and attitudes. Liberal occupies the center ground. Look it up – open minded, forward looking, progressive. PS Republican legislators are also decrying this blaming extreme conspiracy theorists doing extreme acts. These people are mentally disturbed whether “left or right”. How about putting some focus on mental health in the new bill? 25% of the population statistically has or will suffer from depression.

    • Roger Johnson June 16, 2017, 2:34 pm

Sorry you have such a tremendous sensitivity to terms like “liberal leftists” and somehow conclude the term “liberal” means standing on the middle ground. Implying that a dictionary definition accurately describes the American political left is truly laughable. Couching politics in terms of mental health is equally funny. But it is easy to miss the forest for the trees, right?

  • KimberproSS June 16, 2017, 10:08 am

There is no reason to restrict the 2nd amendment rights of a US Citizen. There should be no licensing requirement to carry a firearm. There is no licensing requirement for me to make this statement, or for the MSM to spew hateful rhetoric and freedom of speech is a right, just like bearing an arm. Having background checks for purchase, OK, in depth background checks that allows big brother into everything, no. Showing up at a shopping mall, a school, a baseball field to shoot as many people as possible is a sick person. If they can come to the conclusion they should do this, they will, and they will acquire the weapon to do it. No restrictions on firearms will prevent that, just make the law abiding innocents helpless targets. I believe anyone who would take an innocent life is mentally ill. Killing like ISIS does is a result of brainwashing, metal illness. Killing a human being is unfathomable, even in self defense. I could justify it but living with it would change a person. Why is it so difficult for the anti-gun people to understand this? All the money spent fighting over the second amendment should be dumped into identifying and treating mental illness. If all the guns in the world were taken away, ultimately it would come to fighting mental illness. Time for the gun haters to really understand the root cause.

    • Patrick Duffy June 16, 2017, 10:38 am

As a gun owner, former military, keen shooter and hunter, concealed permit holder why should there not be licensing to operate dangerous equipment? You need a license to drive, a more restrictive demanding one for a semi. You need to certify for all sorts of activities – electrician, plumber etc. Why not to operate a gun? You need to be mentally stable, law abiding and trained in the safety and operation of the weapon. To carry concealed you also need to know your boundaries within which you can take action and how to respond when the police turn up.

      • Mike Robbins June 16, 2017, 1:24 pm

Patrick, the difference is that there is a Constitutional right allowing us, as citizens of this free nation, to own and carry firearms. There is no such right regarding driving, operating machinery, etc. The liberal left would like to destroy that Constitutional right to bear arms. If you disagree with that you are hopelessly lost.

      • DaveGinOly June 16, 2017, 6:55 pm

Sound like you’re looking forward to the day when you need a license to join a church, the state’s permission to keep your property, and a bureaucrat’s consent to write a letter to the editor of a local newspaper. You don’t need a license to vote, but enough individuals voting for a particular candidate can do far more harm than a single shooter can ever do with the ubiquitous “high-power assault rifle.”

The next time you’re involved in a collision, I’ll bet you and the other driver will both have licenses. Did that prevent the collision? Do licenses stop people from driving drunk? Does suspending someone’s license keep them from driving? No, no, and no. Licensing will never be an obstacle to the inattentive, the careless, and the irresponsible – and the good, responsible drivers don’t need a license to be good and responsible. It’s not about the vehicle, it’s about the person.

  • R L June 16, 2017, 9:59 am

since the shooting of the unarmed republicans, not to mention all the public fans that were in attendance , I think this is a good reason to allow all U.S. citizens to carry concealed weapons. If it were not for Mr.Scalise’s 2 body guards, I think this would have been a blood bath. Thankfully the only death was the suspect , I hate when there called the ( shooter ). Can you imagine if there were 10 or more armed and trained citizens there. The threat would have been eliminated in 30 seconds. Not 3-7 minutes. Oh and by the way all you dads, Happy Father’s day.

  • Frank June 16, 2017, 9:59 am

The capitol police there to protect Scalise are being hailed as brave heros and I’m not contending they aren’t but with Scalise in intensive care and his condition listed as critical I would say they failed in their mission! Why weren’t they watching the perimeter and observe a man carrying a rifle? Security personnel are supposed to be watching their surroundings for threats and shouldn’t be watching baseball practice!

It definitely pointed out the negative results of the “Hate Speech” issues by celebrities and politicians in the nation. They certainly “own” this one. And we all can thank a “Gun” for that in a positive way. Remember, it was a good guy with a gun, that took out a bad guy with a gun! I pray for the Congressman and the Capitol Police that were wounded and their speedy recovery —- Amen!

Too much division in America today, agree. No excuses for mad men that shoot at innocents. This incident we’re all referring to is a prime example of why we need to express our second amendment rights. In ones home, the Gov’t has no right telling any citizen what he can posses and how many rounds it can hold, for starters. In public, there’s sensible, but the other side has no sense. So, the people walking around with AR’s

This would be like back in the steel and lumber Baron days where the people had no say in anything. Think about this.

The problem we have in the “free world” is most of the media is in the enemies pocket and is a propaganda arm of the enemy!

    • Aardvark June 16, 2017, 4:21 pm

MSN is some of the worst of the fake news. I have never read one of their articles that wasn’t slanted left. They’re still pushing the Russia / Trump collusion angle with no proof of anything. Instead of a crime followed by an investigation (proper law enforcement methodology), it was an investigation in search of a crime. When they couldn’t invent a crime that would stick, they are now trying to invent an “obstruction of justice” charge based on no crime to begin with (Scooter Libby like). The left, the MSM fake news, the Hollyweird elites, the communist universities, and much of the Rino’s in the Republican party, are obstructing our duly elected President from being able to do his job. You watch, when nothing comes from this bogus investigation, they will keep inventing new “investigations” of non-crimes for sake of obstructing him further.

When the enemy comes for them.Who will be there to defend them? These idiots remove their own protection then wonder what happened when they are the subject of personal attack . Great thinkers .There is not a gun problem in this country. There is a Political problem and an ignorance problem. This country was founded on God, guts and guns. Read the history , most of these politicians have not taken the time to read before entering into the political career. Career another problem with our country. Career politicians. Most of which can not do anything else but be a leach on other . Feeding off our society.

  • D. Kimble June 16, 2017, 8:55 am

Donald Trump has done more to advance Hate and Anger in this country than anyone ever in the history of our country. As an example look at the Republican convention, if you can even call it that. It was nothing more than a Hate fest. It paled in comparison to the Democratic convention which had more class and substance than anything the republicans could come up with. He has made our country less safe by alienating our allies and making deals with Saudi Arabia a major supporter of terrorism to provide them arms that will more than likely be used against our own troops at some point. he ranted about ” crooked Hillary and the fact she had classified emails on her private server that could have been compromised, yet he ACTUALLY gave the Russians classified information. Narcissism is the least of his mental incapability. He has mental issues far beyond that. If you think our country is safer because of Donald Trump then you are fooling yourselves. And by the way I was not a Hillary supporter.

    • Retiredextremelydangerous June 16, 2017, 12:18 pm

You really should get some help with your mental delusions! The next thing you know, you’ll be hanging out at ballparks, asking if there are any unarmed Republicans that you can shoot!

    • chuck June 16, 2017, 2:31 pm

Kimble you are clueless, I blame all this rioting and don’t call them protests on Obama. This stuff never happened until he got in office. He also made us a weak link in world power with no one respecting or fearing us. Bring back the old America.

      • GWOT Vet June 16, 2017, 10:13 pm

Never happened beforecently Obama? I guess you forget about Lincoln’s assassination, Kennedy’s assassination, and Reagan’s attempted assassination–all of which involved firearms.

All the divisiveness between Republicans and everybody else–all the ignorant and immature name-calling is about enough to make me ashamed of my service. How are we supposed to call ourselves the “United” States when we can’talk unite on anything that matters? How are we supposed to call ourselves the land of the “free” when we want to legislate our own version of “common sense” to the point of having no free will? How are we supposed to be a home of the “brave” when we’return so afraid of everything and everyone 5hat we have to put up barriers to self-defense and, at the same time, bomb and/or invade other nations preemptively to keep from fighting them here? All of this is nonsense that only serves to keep us divided and so emotional that we can’t think straight. And Heaven forbid, we may actually show some compassion or feel some empathy for another human being that may not believe exactly as we do.

It is the adolescent mind that is so sure that it knows enough that it doesn’t need to learn anymore, and so closes to new ideas and information. Yet the human brain doesn’t complete development in the areas responsible for complex thought and problem solving until the mid-twenties. Sadly, the adolescent years are the most formative and impressionable–which is why the drinking age is 21 but you can enlist at 17.

Sadly, too many today experience Arrested Development and never advance beyond the adolescent mind. They end up going through life making countless mistakes based on believed misinformation, manipulation, or outright lies; oblivious to their responsibility–preferring to blame others for everything that goes wrong . . . taking credit for everything that someone else made work out right.

The bottom line is that everyone is responsible when things go wrong. When a public figure gets hurt by gun violense, we all have blog on our hands if we have spewed any rhetoric or opinion that diminishes or erodes the humanity or right-to-life of any other person or group of people based on gender, political or religious beliefs, nationality, race, or sexual preference. Of this, both Left and Right, Democrats and Republicans, Conservatives and Liberals are equally guilty. So how about, instead of putting each other down in an effort to build ourselves up, we try for a real conversation, a dialogue that actually stands a chance of bringing everyone together for a common good . . . rather than keeping us all divided to benefit a very select few?

    • Roger Johnson June 16, 2017, 2:50 pm

Trump “actually” gave the Russians classified information? Where is your proof and have you contacted the DOJ? And what other “mental issues” does he have? Are you a clinical professional or just an angry, frustrated liberal. BTW……I bet you did vote for Hillary.

  • Fred Ziffle June 16, 2017, 8:46 am

At this moment we are truly a “nation divided.” And with each incident like this the rift grows wider. What do you suppose the end results will be? Where do we go from here? I can’t see any path that leads towards reconciliation. Hopefully someone can before its too late.

  • AJ June 16, 2017, 8:06 am

In 2011, Jared Lee Loughner opened fire in a supermarket parking lot, grievously wounding Representative Gabby Giffords and killing six people, including a 9-year-old girl. There is a key political figure in 2017 conservative politics who’s work appeared to have profoundly influenced Loughner’s worldview at the time: Alex Jones. The point … is not that Alex Jones, Zeitgeist or The Tea Party are responsible for Loughner’s crimes. The point is that he targeted Giffords for a reason, one rooted in his unhinged interpretation of recognizable conspiracy theories. Right-wing activists and politicians have traded on such theories, giving them far more mainstream exposure and credibility than they ever had before. Experts on political violence have been arguing for months that this is extremely dangerous. People like Loughner are the reason why.

    • Dr Motown June 16, 2017, 9:37 am

Loughner was a schizophrenic who could’ve been “influenced” by a talking bird in the park. You’re comparing apples to oranges here. There’s no evidence that Hodgkinson was legally insane or mentally ill, but he was clearly influenced by political hate speech advocating terrorism against the opposition

They want to remove all the american rights and freedoms right from under your noses
Trump is a dictator and a totalitarian.

    • Rick June 16, 2017, 8:11 am

    • The Beast June 16, 2017, 11:32 am

And Killery let the Russians get 20% of the Uranium Reserves in America . And as soon as that happened there were huge Russian donations to the Clit-on Foundation (mis-spelling on purpose), and then Bill doubled his price for lectures in Russia to 1/2 Million, Really?????????

And let’s not forget Killery: blamed a video for Benghazi, and had a private server in a bathroom and then deleted over 30,000 government documents, those emails were previously called evidence, (that is a felony – I would have had charges filed on me for doing that in my job).. Try deleting evidence in a federal investigation, See if they don’t hurry up and give you a new room to live in and a an orange jump suit to dress in. They sure did that to Martha Stewart. But Bill and Killery are above any laws.

Wake up idiots. This Liberal Deep State has an agenda. and all it’s uneducated, ignorant of the Facts and history Followers make it all possible.

If the Deep State Left was not so scared shitless, would they be spending all the millions of dollars in trying to take down the President.? Always, Follow the Money.

All I can say, is but more Ammo.

Still have that money envy and class hatred thing going, right? You must get your news from other fact less liberals who fear their own shadows. What has Trump done to deserve you calling him a dictator? What has he done other than do things that ignorant people like you disagree with. BTW………it’s “American” not “american”. Being long on mouth and short on basic grammar rules paints you as not being too smart but you’re a liberal after all………..

  • Tom June 16, 2017, 7:28 am

Yet again this proves that guns don’t kill people “”crazy”” people kill people!!!!!
This is a perfect example why concealed carry is a good idea!!!!!! This was a political assassination no bars about it this man intentionally sought out to kill Republican lawmakers this is directly linked to the political hate speech by the left and Hollywood Elites Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell, Kathy Griffin for example the crazy liberal-left is off the deep end and their actions need to be stopped before more innocent people are killed!!!!!!

    • Steve June 16, 2017, 9:56 am

      Exactly.
Main Stream Media has for far too long now, along with Ultra-Lib schools, been brainwashing our youth and feeding false narratives to the unstable people. Until that stops, more and more of this violence is going to take place, sadly. But what can be done about “news” networks that not only report false or fake news, but also fight every moment the truth when it’s brought to light? Context is everything. And until all evidence is brought out about any topic, and news reporters use carefully tactful words to preserve peace and not incite hateful conclusion, then this violent stuff is going to keep going. Context isn’t what the MSM want.
I mean, we can’t just force a network to stop running. That would violate “free speech” even though we know that right is being abused. Do they have that right? To abuse the truth? To, on a mass scale, report lies? To put out false narratives? Think about what an uphill battle reasonable people have for them. They have to battle at least 7 or 8 big main stream television stations as well has hundreds of “news” papers throughout the country. Then, we have tactfully placed ultra-liberal school and collegiate teachers and professors throughout our Nation’s schools and colleges. Then, we have population imbalance for political party lines. For example, the West Coast of the USA is by far ultra-liberal in population like New York is and the rest of upper East Coast cities and States. Then you have a fairly conservative, (reasonable), middle America between the two coasts.
Finally, we have Hollywood through movies, tv shows and cartoons and other “entertainment” programming to worry about. A lot of subtle and blatantly open, unashamed political agenda going on there. Propaganda everywhere you look. And it far outweighs conservative outlets.
You know, politicians are in it to stay in it. They will play to their base and the insanity continues to erode our Nation’s social construct. Look at all of in the name of Liberal freedoms that is going on with fighting the President at every turn, tooth and nail, to prevent him and reasonable laws from passing and helping our Nation with the safety and security issues dealing with terrorism. I mean, people can argue on economics all day long, but our Nation’s safety ? No.

    • Roger Johnson June 16, 2017, 3:03 pm

Not as rich as your inability to spell “speech”. LOL! Liberals post the dumbest things……

  • Uncommon Sense June 16, 2017, 6:26 am

What a stupid comment Steven! I may not agree with your political views but no one deserves to be shot for them. Obviously the shooter was a disturbed person.

    • SGT-N June 18, 2017, 1:23 pm

Unfortunately, we automatically label anyone like the “Baseball Shooter” as a disturbed person without looking behind the person’s motivation. In the current case, we have a person who shot the Republican baseball players with malice of forethought as shown by his actions (driving from Illinois with a legally purchased rifle, known to be illegal in D.C. and stayed in the YMCA adjacent to the field) and speech (he belonged to far-left, hate group and posted anti-Trump, anti-Republican rhetoric on its website as well as specifically asking the political party of the people at the field before carefully choosing his firing position). He was a man on a mission to commit first-degree murder, not “disturbed.” If we label all political shooters as having a mental illness (e.g., “disturbed “), we give antigun groups ammunition, no pun intended, to argue that a person shooting another in self-defense must be mentally ill. In certain states, this argument could lead to involuntary commitment to a mental institution with the possibility of being “adjudicated” mentally ill and a short stay to “cure” the person. As you know, this action will legally prevent this person from ever purchasing or even owning a firearm. We must be careful with our semantics, or it could come back to haunt us one day.

  • Brian Hargreaves June 16, 2017, 6:23 am

Saying “To bad it was not!” Is terrible. There is no room in America, the America I love, for hate speech, from anyone, about anyone.
And I carry a pistol, every day. When home, in this free State of Florida. And I should be able to do so, in every State when I travel.
Reason? To protect my Wife of 23 years, my Grand Children, and me.
The pistol I carry. A Glock 19 4th Gen. Night sights. Extended slide release. (I know Glock says slide stop)
4 .5 lb trigger. 147g Ranger T Winchester 9mm rounds. Spare G17 round magazine. Left side belt holster, with 17 rounds of NATO 124g Mil Spec hardball. Surefire light, belt holster, behind Mag. Benchmade folder, sharp as a razor. Clipped to right side pants pocket. IPhone 5 it is small. in mag pocket, Blue Ant Blue tooth on left ear. Never touch phone.
511 Pants used to scream COP/FBI. 25 years ago. Now everybody wears them, or copy’s, all over the world. That’s all I wear. At 81 YOA, who cares.

  • Craig Allred June 16, 2017, 5:56 am

Gottlieb’s comments are ludicrous and hateful. This Washington shootings were cause by one angry and at least temporarily insane little man – period.

    • JT June 16, 2017, 8:43 am

Craig -Please tell me exactly which of Gottliebs comments you find ludicrous and hateful. Do you not think that law-abiding citizens have the right to defend themselves? If not for the armed security detail, this incident would have gone on longer and had a significantly higher casualty count. As far as hateful speech goes, I couldn\’t help but notice that you called the shooter a little man – sounds to me like you have a problem with short men. If you\’re not just a troll, please respond and explain your comments.

      • Craig Allred June 16, 2017, 12:44 pm

As I tried to say, individuals are (or should be) largely responsible for their own behavior, not talking heads on TV or in Washington, etc. There are obvious exceptions…children kidnapped from African villages can be intimidated and “brainwashed” into becoming cold killers…diseases of mental health can cloud judgement enough to do the same, and so on. Gottlieb’s assertion that this crime is the fault of “democratic hate speech” is hateful in the sense that it continues to stoke the political fires consuming this great country. I could cite as many or more examples of Republican hate speech, Muslin hate speech, skin head hate speech etc. as he can, but I do not blame them for atrocities.

Also, of course I think law abiding citizens have the right to defend themselves, which is why I am a “gun advocate” (which means many things to many people). FYI, “short” has many meanings, not just small in stature…you should know this.

        • JT June 17, 2017, 10:50 am

Craig – I too believe in personal responsibility, but that has nothing to do with your original assertions. Hate speech is the same wether it\’s from the right or left, but since the election, it\’s been overwhelmingly from the left, and by and large ignored from the mainstream media. As an example, the play Julius Caesar being performed in Central Park – can you imagine the reaction if Caesar would have been played by a character resembling Hillary or better yet, Obama? I can… the mainstream media would have been apoplectic! Instead the liberal press defends this play by cowardly hiding behind the excuse of artistic freedom. Should the play be shut down or censored? Hell no! But is it in good taste? I\’d have to give the same answer. What I find much more disturbing than the content of the play is the fact that this play is apparently not only a success, but reportedly, the audience routinely stands up and cheers when the Trump character is assassinated! REALLY? REALLY? As much as I and most other conservatives disliked the last eight years of the Obama administration and Hillary, I don\’t think you can find any examples from the right advocating their assassination, either openly or thinly veiled under the guise of artistic license. You spoke of personal responsibility in your response – I believe that also extends to what someone says. In summation, I think that Gottlieb is correct in connecting the dots and saying that hate speech from the left contributed to this shooting. If you think the left doesn\’t share the same opinion when the roles are reversed, just google Pizzagate and read a few of the articles from the Washington Post or NBC. And yes, I do know there are many meanings to the word little. However, you gave me no context, and that in conjunction with several news reports stating the shooter was short in stature, led me to believe you were using the most common definition.

    • Retiredextremelydangerous June 16, 2017, 12:40 pm

The U.S. does not have a gun problem! It has a hate problem, with anyone that disagrees with Liberal Democrats, is against illegal Hispanics, is against Muslim Jihadist refugees being brought in to the U.S. Anyone who opposes open borders, drug cartels and the destruction of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and oppose Sharia Law! They hate all that defend the 1st and 2nd Amendments, the U.S. Flag and defend their families and themselves with firearms! They hate that you have a right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, without being told what, when, where, and how to think and live your life! They hate anything and all things that reeks of Freedom!

    • SGT-N June 18, 2017, 1:33 pm

He was not “temporarily insane” as the term is used legally used. Instead, his actions and speech show that he was legally a sane person on a mission to commit first-degree murder. See my post above for a complete analysis.

  • Joe June 16, 2017, 5:55 am

Schumer is directly responsible for the hate directed against President Trump and the republican majority that We The People voted for and should retire from politics in shame for the destruction achieved at his direction.

      • Steven June 16, 2017, 9:22 am

No, you’re the idiot. My post was a simple statement, not a suggestion. It’s people like Pelosi & Schumer that are the problem with this country, not me. And no, I wouldn’t go on a shooting spree, or try to assassinate government officials, but if something were to happen to Obama, Hitlary & Bill Clinton, and the other Socialists, I would not shed a tear. Now suck on that for awhile, half-brain!
